Visited this place on my 1-day trip to Austin. Great food, great service. I had the Escargots de Bourgogne and the Confits de canard aux apricots. Both were amazing. Small but cozy restaurant. Would definitely eat here again.

Adorably cozy! This is a great place to get authentic French food in Austin. The escargot was delicious(it’s served with the local Austin bakery, Easy Tiger’s baguette). I also really appreciated how colorful and perfectly cooked the vegetables were with each of our entrees. Super friendly staff and great French wine selection!

Chez Nous is one of my all-time Austin favorites, so I was very happy to find that they could seat 3 of us immediately on Saturday night — a late dinner before Esther’s Follies. We had the country pâté, I had the scallops St. Jacques, a cheese plate with fruit, and I don’t remember what my son had as I was so engrossed in enjoying my meal! Lovely wines by the glass, absolutely classic small French eatery ambiance, and for the most part, native French speakers providing the service & hospitality. Je l’adore!

The food here was good enough, but nothing fantastic. The dining area could use an upgrade.

Très bon! The ambiance, service, and food was excellent. A most enjoyable dining experience. It was well worth the drive up from San Antonio(and closer than my food Mecca, New Orleans). I anticipate making frequent return visits.

Wow, great experience and great food! All but one dessert was a disappointment(used lightly here), but didn’t take away even half a star: Get the crème brule(auto correct won’t allow a correct spelling). Rum cake reminds me of a yellow loaf cake from the grocery store, with rum and awesome whip cream on it. Chocolate soufflé is just pudding in a bowl, really good pudding, but something I would serve a child. Next time we’ll double up on the appetizers!

In town for a convention & we had a craving for French. We were not disappointed. Many of the Mgmt and/or staff are native French speaking, thus making it that much more fun. We started with a charcuterie plate — it was fantastic. I had scallops and my husband the salmon and chocolate mousse for desert. We Loved every bite and our waiter was a joy. We arrived at opening so we could get a seat, it seems very popular with locals. We’ll be back again. merci beaucoup!

Bonne petite adresse en retrait du vacarme ahurissant des bars de la 6th street! Une étoile en moins pour le manqué de vins” à prix abordable” genre pichet maison… Killer desserts

I come here every chance I get when I’m in Austin. Sometimes I eat here multiple times on a trip. I find the food and service that good. I can honestly say I’ve never had anything I wasn’t a fan of. Very friendly and attentive staff too!

Chez Nous is a long time favorite for my wife and me. We almost always go here to eat when we want to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. The food is always great, and the service is just the right level of attentive without being intrusive. The same people have worked there for years, which I always take as a good sign. Their prices aren’t cheap, but are very fair for the quality of the food. Compared to a lot of newer, high end restaurants in Austin, Chez Nous is a bargain. A reservation is a good idea, but if you show up without one, they’ll work you in.

A friend and I came in for coffee and dessert and were basically given the cold shoulder from the staff. They seemed annoyed when we told them that we would not be needing the dinner menu. The place wasn’t even busy at the time, but it still took them a while to take our order. We went with a cappuccino and the profiteroles. Both were good, but nothing spectacular for their price.

It had been a very long time since I last visited here. What a mistake that was because I and friends missed out on a gem of a restaurant. Straightforward menu(any of those any more?) . Everything that we ordered was excellent. Service was warm and efficient. This was a Sunday night(always looking for a good restaurant on Sunday night). Highly recommended and all of our group are food professionals. I’m going back frequently after an outstanding dinner with friends…

Despite its location right off 6th, we were deeply impressed with The food. Expecting a bland tourist fare, we were impressed as locals. The waitstaff was excellent and the food was phenomenal. We’ll definitely return.

I saw the review in Unilocal and called them to enquire about a birthday party I would like to host. The person who answered was EXTREMELY rude he shouted and banged the phone on my face. He said he would not be able to give me any information as he is busy with more important things. How you treat others is clearly a statement you make about yourself.

Friend recommended this restaurant to me and after reading all the great reviews, I decided to give it a go. We started out with escargot and pâté. I’ve never been a big fan of snails but the flavor was sooooo good. I almost kicked the escargot plate after we were done with the dish. The creaminess of the sauce mixed with mushrooms… Oh my! Lol The pâté was good as well, it was fresh and I enjoyed it. I liked their bread and I dipped it in the escargot haha Now for the entrees… I got the lamb and my mom got the duck… honestly I don’t think those two dishes were anything special. I took a few bites and that was it. It did not stood out to me so I was pretty disappointed. This is the fun part. When we got home, we got a really bad stomach virus type of thing. Our stomachs didn’t handle the food very well… so I don’t think I’ll be back… Ha. ha

Great spot for lunch. Classy and cute little bistro nestled off 6th street. Had a fantastique croque madame with a gorgeous, rich beschemel and pretty, runny egg on top. Served with a fresh vinegerette salad on the side, it was the perfect amount of tart to cut through the creamy, decadent sandwich. The bread before was soft and perfect, and I swear we didn’t mean to eat the whole basket before our meal showed up, but… that happened. I can’t wait to come back here. This already looks like it’s going to end up on our date night(and date lunch break) list, at the top, with a bullet. My partner goes bananas for any French food. I like a cute bistro where the folks working there really care and put out a great dish somewhere that’s not stuffy or pretentious, but lets the food speak for itself. This one hits the sweet spot for us both, with exceptional food, great service, and cute atmosphere. Casually cool, something for those of us who love classic food and not just the hippest incarnation of a dish around right now. Intimate and perfect for a date or small group. Get some wine and do as the french do — luxuriate over it and some smart conversation. This is the perfect spot to do it.

The food was good but I’ve had better. Considering the price, I can’t complain! They have a fixed 3 course menu of an appetizer: soup, salad, or pâté, main menu, and dessert. You can sub for a main menu dessert with an addition of $ 1, including coffees. The parking is difficult due to location but there are parking lots and garages near the area. Service was a little slow tonight but I guess it’s to be expected of a Saturday. I ordered the soup of the day: butternut squash and Brie soup(they have an option between a hot soup or a cold soup), salmon and crab, and a cappuccino. My BF got the escargot, duck confit, and meringue island. Appetizer: –hot soup of the day– it was a good creamy consistency and nice flavors. A good option when you want something light! –escargot– absolutely delicious. Instead of the usual baking that most restaurants do, it is sautéed here with mushrooms and soaked in a butter sauce with a mix of great spices. This is a must get on the menu. Probably my favorite item for the night. –bread was nothing special and was cold. Not sure if it’s supposed to come like that but it was average. Main course: –salmon au crabe– this was delicious! The salmon was cooked with a super crispy skin and the sauce was a great match! If I had to guess the sauce has a mayonnaise base. The crab meat was a refreshing touch to the whole meal. It also came with squash and red cabbage slices, hush puppies(kinda weird), and tomatoes. –duck confit– the duck reminded me of Cantonese duck you get at Asian restaurants. The meat fell off the bone and the skin was also very crispy. It has a little bit too much fat, but it’s unavoidable due to it being the legs. It also came with apricot chutney which was a sweet tangy twist to the overall meal. Did not care too much for the pair. The veggies were the same as the salmon but no tomatoes. Dessert: –meringue island– hmm not my favorite due to the texture. I’ve never had meringue before but for those of you not familiar what it is, it’s egg white whipped very quickly to solidify. It came with a caramel crème sauce. –cappuccino– pretty typical with espresso and a foamy milk. Overall the food was not bad! Did not knock my pants off though. They do have some good sweet white wines as well as desert wines.

Je t’aime a la folie! I wanted French food… but wAsnt in the mood for Justine’s, so I headed downtown for my first(and definitely not my last) meal at Chez Nous. I had the soup du jour, which was a delight(onions, cream, beef broth… like a French onion soup), steak frites(the food on my plate was disappearing without me even noticing… I wasn’t even talking to my date), and crème brûlée(so creamy, I haven’t stopped thinking about it), and two glasses of wine. It is super casual and the servers were cheery. I can’t wait to return ANDEATEVERYTHING!

It’s a very cosy place where you enjoy delicious meals. It looks like a typical brasserie! The service is perfect and the owners are really nice. I am French and this place give me the impression to be in France… I definitely recommend this restaurant

Went here with friends for a bachelorette party dinner. We had no problem getting seated on a Saturday night. The ambiance is very typical sidewalk casual french café. It’s not particularly nice looking. We all ordered the prix fixe menu for $ 35 a person. Most of us ordered the steak or the salmon. I had the steak with the soup du jour and chocolate mousse. The steak was flavored well, but not the most tender. Definitely nothing to rave about and far from amazing. Soup was really good and we all scarfed it down. I think it was the cauliflower soup. My friends who ordered the salmon loved it and thought it was one of the best prepared salmon they’ve had. I’m not particularly fond of cooked salmon, so I didn’t care to taste it. For dessert, we all had the chocolate mousse. Again, my friends loved it and scarfed it down. It was too rich for me though and I could only handle few bites. If you aren’t in love with dark rich chocolate, I’d opt for a different dessert. The chocolate mousse definitely isn’t for the chocolate faint of heart. The service was alright, but nothing special. Overall, not sure if I’ll go back again. It’s pretty pricey for the portion size and I didn’t leave super satisfied.
