Oh my gosh. Amazing chocolate. What an amazing and creative tessa. She is also very nice. Generous sampling. Just cover your eyes let that chocolate melt in your mouth. Heavenly

So incredibly impressed with this place — the chocolate is second to none! Definitely Belgium/​European quality/​style. Owner/​staff are so friendly and helpful at the same time incredibly knowledgable all that aside for me the fact that put this place above and beyond my expectations was the awareness and sensitivity of the staff with regard to food allergies especially nut allergies. This is something hard to come by in Austin! If you are living with a family member with a nut allergy but you still need good chocolate in your life this is your place!

I am lucky enough to work next door to this wonderful place. Tessa’s chocolates are the best I’ve ever eaten. If you love chocolate, or need a gift for someone, you cannot go wrong here. Also, Tessa herself is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell she really loves what she does. All of the staff I have interacted with have given great service.

Yummy, home-​made, delicious, high-​quality chocolate heaven! Part of my pampering ritual on Saturdays after acupuncture next door. I go to Ashley and get my relaxing acupuncture treatment and then go to this place to treat my chocolate addiction. The dark chocolate and espresso chocolate are my favorites. She always has free samples as well. Then treat yourself to a mani/​pedi or holistic massage next door at Nina’s.

This place is amazing! Absolutely wonderful chocolates that have stunning flavor and subtle differences. Also, they did a great job at putting together several packages together for clients of mine. There are many places to buy chocolate but none in Austin like Tessa’s.

I just got samples from here the milk chocolate was good and my kids ending up stealing that one and devouring it.
The hazelnut crunch was amazing but my favorite hands down was the mocha pyramid! It is everything chocolate should be be. The flavored developed as I ate it the chocolate was smooth and it was just amazing.

I’m very surprised by the raving reviews. Being a European guy, I happen to be quite familiar with good chocolate and this is not what this store sells. My fiancée bought a box and everything in that box was overly fat and creamy, to the point that it wasn’t good. The chocolate is not dark enough. Any good bar of Cote d’Or will be superior to this. Sorry, and I’m not an American chocolate hater as I’ve had excellent chocolate from boutique shops on the East coast. OK I do hate Hershey’s but that’s not exactly chocolate…
We were comparing this with some mendiants and various other types of dark chocolate I just got from Paris and Lyon, and this does not get even close. Perhaps they have better ones but that box was a big disappointment…

Europe is too far to travel for perfect chocolate bonbons so do yourself and your wallet a favor and get some of Tessa’s chocolates! Just go in and try a sample and you’ll be hooked. Always fresh and smooth with delicate yet bold flavors. Just like her chocolates, Tessa is such a sweet little treat!

Just when you think life doesn’t get any better, Taco deli starts selling their caramels and you, my friend, have hit the Jackpot. I have consumed multiple 4 packs of these delicious little treats, and I see many more in my future. GO NOW!

Chocolaterie Tessa is my new favorite sweet treat spot. From the incredibly delicious chocolate covered almonds to the gooey goodness of her Salted Caramels I can’t get enough of her chocolates.
I had the opportunity to visit the chocolate shop in the back and see where all the magic happens. It was so fun and interesting to see where all the chocolate is made and to hear Tessa’s story. Tessa is a pro at her craft and such a delight to talk to. She really has something special.

Wonderful! Tessa herself guided us through her beautiful offerings. I enjoyed the Black & Tan and the Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate the most. The kitchen is visually available from the front and is spotless. Tessa is a heritage chocolatier with 30 years experience passed on from her father to her. Simply lovely, delicious and affordable.

This place is magical! I stopped in on Valentine’s Day to pick up some of Tessa’s heavenly truffles. Heather F. gifted me with some delicious truffles for Christmas so I knew how wonderful and special Tessa’s chocolates are.
When I walked in the first thing I saw were two smiling faces. A gentlemen offered samples and a tour of the chocolaterie to a curious kiddo left a wonderful first impression. Front and center there is a simple clean glass display with gorgeous rows of truffles. They also have boxes of freshly made truffles in boxes and for the holiday heart shaped chocolates and gift sets. The sets look very classy and beautiful. I chose to build my own box of a ½ dozen truffles. The chocolate covered cherry was so rich and delicious and the mint was equally delightful. These babies just melt in your mouth.
Tessa learned the family trade from her father who studied in the Netherlands. He also helped her open the new shop but is now himself retired. How special to learn such a wonderful trade and carry on the traditional and legacy.
If you want to give a special gift or want to treat yourself this is the place to go.

After returning to the US from Switzerland, I have been homesick for an actual «chocolaterie» (yes there is a difference). I have found some delicious chocolate shops in Austin that specialize in truffles, and other sweets, but not a specialized «chocolaterie». The emphasis here is quality over quantity. Quality imported chocolate (especially dark), and praline style chocolates.
This boutique style store front doesn’t look like it should belong in this tucked away hidden strip mall on Burnet. It has only been open since Nov 2014. The shop is sparkling clean, and you can even see them working to make the delicious morsels in the back kitchen. Tessa is the chocolate chocolatier, and has followed in her Dad’s footsteps. The staff are friendly, and will offer you samples if you are curious. The samples sell themselves, the tough part is making a decision. Always be sure to ask what chocolates they have in the back, as they don’t always have all the options for purchase out in the glass case.
The chocolates melt in your mouth, and are all amazing. The chocolate thins are addictive, and like opening a can of Pringles, once you pop you can’t stop. The cherry liquor chocolate, mocha chocolate pyramid, and vanilla dark chocolate are some of my favorites. Right now for V-​day they have amazing flavored marshmallow dipped heart chocolates that are heaven in your mouth. If you can’t find time to make it to north burnet, there is a fabulous website that you can order this fresh hand made chocolate from.

I’m not a sweets person really but occasionally I like a bite of something special. This is that place. Not only sweet — but also special. It’s a spot where you find that perfect piece.
Tessa imports her chocolate from France and when whhhhips them up into outstanding little confections. Current seasonal flavor is pumpkin spice trufffffffle. Believe me when I say this could potentially ruin you for all other chocolates.
She has beautiful molds and gifts as well. Be prepared — it’s a little spendy — but it;s also a hell of a lot better than those hershey kisses you’ve been popping.

Tessa (a second generation chocolatier) and her husband are extremely nice and got a great thing going here at this new chocolaterie. Their chocolates taste fresh (they make everything in house) and have a delicate quality to them.
I got a bunch of their chocolates for friends of mine who were very pleased. I also got some for me which had me very pleased. I was particularly fond of the dark chocolate coffee piece and the seasonal pumpkin truffle. The atmosphere is pristine and to me, it feels like a jewelry store. Which is fitting since those little chocolate gems are quite precious.

I love seeing a business develop and improve before my very eyes. That is what is occurring at Chocolaterie Tessa. I visited the new storefront last week and was absolutely delighted with the new flavors.
The white chocolate with passion fruit is incredible and the hazelnut crunch is a new favorite of mine. Along with the Heart of Darkness dark chocolate truffle, it is getting more challenging to just pick a few. That’s one reason I like the different size options of the gift boxes from which to choose.
The turkey moulds are a great gift idea for Thanksgiving and Tessa has lots of other moulds as well, for special occasions.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. I think Austin has a wonderful treasure in the making with this one.

Chocolaterie Tessa is tucked in the corner of a quiet strip mall at the intersection of Richcreek and Burnet, and definitely classes up the otherwise nondescript shopping center. The space is beautiful and the proprietor and her husband could not be more welcoming.
The candies were delectable. We bought the medium sampler to try a little bit of everything and enjoyed every morsel. The standouts were definitely the white chocolate passion fruit truffle that was bursting with tangy fruit flavor; the hazelnut truffle with a nice, nutty crunch surrounding a smooth as silk ganache center; the Heart of Darkness homage to dark chocolate; and the ridiculously good pâté de fruit.
I know I’ll be back regularly to pick-​up containers of chocolate discs topped with all sorts of tasty bits, including candied ginger and fleur de sel. You’d be hard-​pressed to find a better hostess gift for under $ 10.
What a great addition to the neighborhood!

The store is *VERY* inviting! Clean lines, brightly lit, such a great color structure. The smell of chocolate will make you swoon a little. Tessa is there to greet you with a beautiful smile.
Then your eyes fall on the chocolate. And you decide then and there you are never leaving. OMG. The display is just a work of art. Neatly lined, a flavor for everyone (or all for you). Smooth. Delicate. Melt-​in-​your-​mouth (it would melt in your hand, but you would never hold it that long without gobbling it up). Absolutely perfect.
As you come out of your stupor and start looking around the store more you see other selections, molded chocolates, some already put in boxes ready for you to buy, and a shelf of empty boxes waiting for you to have Tessa fill them up so you can take them home to share (or gobble them all down yourself in the car. Chocolates? What chocolates? Oh, yeah, um… I didn’t make it to the store today, *cough*, maybe tomorrow?)

Fresh chocolates!!! Was just gifted with a lovely cylinder of the round wafer chocolates. They look so simple (what is this, melted chocolate chips?) but oh mmmmyyyyy, these are a perfect little bite. The flavor is full and rich, no hint of a grocery store waxy coating. The little ginger bits included with the thins are heavenly.
It’s a little hard to find them — they’re tucked into the corner of a shopping center across from El Mercado /​Genie Car Wash, just south of Top Notch and wacky Austin Furniture Depot. They’re on the East side. The cross-​street is Richcreek and it has a stop light. Bring me some when you go, ok? I hear there are samples.
