Computer Medic

Another home run by Scott. I have a theoretically strong PC that’s been anemic for quite some time. I’ve never had time to back up all my data properly and bring it to Scott but finally, I’d had enough. I told him what was going on and he got right into it the next day. He found significant fan and cooling issues that were causing lots of CPU stress. Fixed.
Scott ran a few benchmark tests and said before vs after was 3.5 times better.
My little black box is very strong now. Thanks.

Day one: I first brought my laptop in for a cracked screen. They were able to replace the screen immediately which was great. I brought the laptop home and didn’t use it that night.
Day two: In the morning, I opened it up and it had a TAB fault error screen. My husband called and informed them right away. I brought the laptop back that afternoon and when I dropped it off, I was basically accused of having damaged the brand new screen, and that it couldn’t have been anything else besides my negligence. They replaced the screen again for me for free which I thought was fair.
Day three: I open my laptop and I can hear something within the screen/​lid clicking around, like a loose screw or something stuck inside. Every time I open or close the laptop or move it around, I hear a small metallic rattle. The screen is also covered in grey diagonal lines which I didn’t notice right away. When using a white background (like MS word document) it is very obvious and annoying.
Almost $ 200 wasted in repairing it… I would’ve been better off bringing this to Fry’s or buying a new computer. By the way this laptop is only a year old and never had any issues before the cracked screen and ensuing repairs.

Scott arrived at our office less than 24 hours & fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. I’ve had other IT guys take over a day for the same issue! He was fast, efficient, inexpensive & had a great attitude. We will use him from now on. Thanks Scott!

I went to the Computer Medic sometime back in 2015. The clean-​up/​tune-​up of my computer was done in the time promised and my issues were addressed. Helpful answering questions, and when I got home a few things were off from having been connected to a different system, and Scott was very helpful answering my questions via e-​mail to make sure everything was back to how I am used to. I would certainly bring my computer back to him.

Tested my computer on the spot when it wasn’t charging and sold me the proper charger for a decent price. The whole thing took less than 20 minutes. Will definitely stop by again if I have other issues.

They do a great job for very reasonable prices. Having run computer repair shops for over 20 years, this is where I tell my friends to go.

Very fast! And great service, sort of. When I picked up my laptop, I learned my anti-​virus software had been uninstalled, and they reactivated a MS Windows product. Their explanation made perfect sense and I agreed with their reasoning, but they failed to run this by me before they did it.
Also, as I just discovered at 10am Sun 10/​4, they also uninstalled a basic photo editing program I love. This was particularly aggravating, because I was going to use that program to put together the slideshow for a party in Dallas tonight, for my parents’ 50^th wedding anniversary.
How can you make changes like this without running them by your customers first?

Scott did a great job recovering data from an old external hard-​drive that my son had managed to destroy. He was very knowledgable, and the entire staff is very friendly.

Wow… for someone who works for herself and does not have access to a «help desk» — it was a true pleasure and delight to be able to lean on Computer Medic’s fantastic staff to do some trouble shooting for me.
I will be back!

We had Scott go by an employees house because of her complaints about internet connections. In the time he spent there, he couldn’t resolve the problem & he left without fixing anything. I personally went to check on the laptop, & the problem was resolved by plugging in an Ethernet cord to the laptop, because the Time Warner router was having WiFi consistency issues. If that problem was over his head, I wouldn’t trust him to work on any of our PCs.

The crew here were very helpful and offered their services at a very fair price. Alvin, in particular, was thorough in searching for a computer which matched the specs needed for my job. Additionally, he held a workstation for me in case the search did not turn out as expected. And this is all as he was undergoing a personal tragedy.
He performed work on a machine, adding RAM among other things for a great price and the machine works much better than advertised.
Another visit yielded an awesome clean-​up/​performance improvement of my old lap top in a very timely manner. The level of service provided then was much higher than what was billed.
For some instances, I would suggest that you as a patron be patient with the staff. They are busy going beyond the call to provide you & everyone else the best service possible.
I would highly recommend Computer Medic for any hardware (& software clean-​up) work. I certainly will return should any other need arise. These guys & gals know their stuff!

I can’t thank Scott and his crew enough! I needed to wipe data from 4 donated laptops for shipment to an impoverished area in Tanzania. We negotiated a lower price since it was for charity, but Scott surprised me by doing the work for free — he was happy to help a good cause. Not only that, but when one laptop failed to operate, he threw in not 1 but 2 more systems for us to send to Africa. I can’t begin to tell you how much this was appreciated. How many shops do you know of that are so generous and community minded?
More than that, though, is that the shop is run by lovely people (and their adorable canine companions). This is a solid shop. I will happily use Computer Medic again if I need help in the future!

This is my first review on Unilocal and I have to say that I only made the account to write a review for Computer Medic. They are absolutely awesome! They fixed my baby brothers laptop in a matter of days and the price was really good! I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone having computer issues :)

This is what every business should aspire to be. They are friendly, honest and do excellent work in a timely fashion. They saved me a bunch of money and completed the work a full day quicker than expected. I’ll never take any of my computers anywhere else. Back in the fall of 2012 my laptop charger died. Having recently moved to Austin and more recently having moved to my current neighborhood, I consulted Unilocal.After a thorough investigation I chose Computer Medic. Great reviews, Close proximity and the price was right.
Scott gave me a fair deal on a fine used charger and we discussed updates to my laptop. I ended up having him update the laptop and he ended up hiring me to do some cleaning around the shop. Thus began a great working relationship and a fine friendship.

The people at Computer Medic are awesome! They are all so nice. I went to Best Buy to have the password reset on our old desktop, but they couldn’t do it because it had Linux on it. Best Buy had my computer for days. I took it to Computer Medic and they had it done in one day! Their prices are very reasonable and the people there are so friendly and helpful!
To add to the great service, I got the computer back and was setting it up when I realized that we didn’t have a keyboard. I called Computer Medic and offered to buy one of the many extra they had there. Scott told me he’d give me one for free!
Great company, great staff, and excellent customer service. I was very pleased and recommend people use this company.
