I started training at Cooper MMA2 months ago. Overweight and out of shape, I was apprehensive about joining as I assumed it would have the usual gym atmosphere I had been exposed to before. That is NOT the case at Cooper MMA. Sean Cooper, the owner and head instructor, is an extremely talented teacher and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels comfortable and understands the techniques he teaches in his Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes. The amazing thing about this gym is that positive attitude flows through the entire gym, from his very talented staff to all the members that train there. If you’re looking for a place to get fit or really hone your skills in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu(GI and No GI), Muy Thai, Boxing, Judo, or MMA, I urge you to come experience Cooper MMA, I promise you wont be disappointed.

I have been training BJJ for about 8 years and have trained at a variety of academies not just in Austin but California and Chicago. I have been training with Sean now for about two years. Cooper MMA in my option is the best place in all of Austin and Texas to train. You will find great top level training partners, knowledgable instructors and wide variety of options. Sean’s reputation as quality instructor and awesome individual draws talent from all over Austin from quality BJJ black belts to high caliber MMA fighters Sean is a fantastic BJJ instructor who teaches all technics and is willing to share the subtleties of each technic. The facilities are top notch with two showers a boxing ring and about the largest mat area I personally have ever seen. Sean also supplements his BJJ training with other forms of combat arts such as box, kick boxing and MMA training. Bottom line is if you want to train at the best with the best Cooper MMA is the place to be.
