Copernicus STEM, Language and Arts Academy

We were simply looking for a safe and flexible daycare option for our child when we moved to Austin, but we’ve gotten so much more from Copernicus Academy. I honestly cannot believe we were so lucky. The head teacher of the school creates inventive and exciting STEM lesson plans for the children that attend Copernicus. Our 20 month old daughter is working on something new every week. One week she’s digging for fossils, another week she is making a catapult. The focus on science doesn’t come at the exclusion of art. Our daughter is frequently engaged in artistic activities at Copernicus — not cookie-​cutter preschool art, but real, free-​form, process art. How do I know? They send me picture updates throughout the day. All of this is provided in a dual-​language (Spanish and English) environment, by an incredibly caring and gentle staff. They work very hard to encourage and participate in community.
The result? My daughter plays more independently. She explores more readily. She refers to things like «shoes» and «water» in Spanish. Best of all, she has started asking to go to daycare in the mornings. Five stars and two enthusiastic thumbs up for Copernicus.

They receive us with a huge smile every morning and in the afternoon when I pick up our daughter. Each morning she runs over to the teachers and the group to find out what project they are working on. Every day it is something new and creative. She once came home with a spaceship that had a battery and wires. With her little two year old fingers she connected the wires and it rattled. It blew my mind!
There is a good balance between indoor and outdoor activity. They are incredibly patient with potty training and nap time. They have been accommodating with drop off and pick up hours. They send photos of the kids all day over email or an app.
I simply couldn’t ask for more.
The two women who started the school have a wonderful energy and inspiration. They are the people who go above and beyond to do well and to stay in business.

I am always looking for high quality childcare that is both nurturing and educational. Copernicus Academy embodies both of these characteristics and more. The idea of teaching kids at a young age about science, technology, engineering & math is wonderful! It will give them a huge step forward in life. Just check out their website and you will see many of the activities and projects the kids are engaged in. The teachers are creative, dedicated and passionate about their work. The school is bright and welcoming with kids’ art everywhere. From gardening, chemistry experiments & trips to the Farmers Market to language lessons, free-​play & art, this place is definitely special.

It’s obvious as you walk in that this place is being run by pros. The facilities are very nice and everything is always organized. The staff is very friendly (the main teacher is a biologist which is pretty cool if you ask me) and the kids were behaving nicely. Kids love this place. Highly recommended.
