The woman working was friendly enough and we got the meal deal for $ 6.99 each. I enjoyed the curry and ample amount of rice and bean soup I got, as well as the roti. Be aware that this curry has a kick to it, so if you’re like me, be prepared the next morning(or even later in the day) to feel the burn as it goes out. The curry burned going in and it burned going out, but I’m somewhat sensitive to spicy foods, so they didn’t lose points for that. Overall it was a good Indian meal at a decent price.

I haven’t had Indian food in a long time and so I was really happy when my friend Amanda suggested it for lunch. The food is laid out cafeteria style. I decided to order the lunch special to make it easy ;-) … It was a lot of food! I had a samosa(love those), roti bread(tortilla-like), paneer, chaat and lemon rice. The food was very good and filling! Everyone there was really friendly. And they offer 10% off if you check in on Unilocal.I definitely recommend!

I like idli sambhar, dabeli and paneer dish there. You will like this place if you are looking for home cook kind of food which I prefer to go for sometimes.

A few years ago I had some good and some terrible meals here. They have improved though. The food tastes like they use more unhealthy oils than other similar places. Also, there are always flies everywhere, landing on food behind counter as well as your dish if dining in. This should be easy to fix but they don’t seem to care. If they got rid of the flies and used less and better oils this would be 5 star. Hope they read these :)

This place is not close to me, but I stop in any chance I get. The food is always very good! It is vegetarian, so I never feel the need to ask what is in it. The service is friendly. The price is reasonable. The facilities are adequate. The quality of the food is outstanding! You don’t have to wait for your food… it is always hot and ready!

Been here a few times. This is quick and cafeteria style. Not too much décor or personality. The few times, I’ve gone in, the person serving has been sweet and kind. Food is okay, The one time I got the combo with the dessert, I had to throw away the dessert. It was so stale, they shouldn’t have served it. I think it’s okay if you are needing something right away. Otherwise, I would just go to Bombay Express, which is pretty close by. Comparing dish to dish, Bombay Express’s version is just fresher and tastier. But it’s decent. So I may drop by again if I’m in a rush.

Their value meal and meal deals are the best you can get anywhere in town. I love their paneer paratha and mango lassi! Have been here just too many times and was never disappointed with the quality of food.

I came here last week and it was AMAZING. I think I had a samosa… Not sure really. I came in and told the lady it was my first time there. I ordered the Pani Puri after reading a good review about it. However, the lady was hard to understand… And I think we(she) decided to change my order to the Samosa… And it was a great joint decision. I’m going back today to try to order the same thing again. Wish me luck.

Very good food and the service person are pretty nice! According to someone who know about the restaurant, this is a Gujarati restaurant. Honestly, I am a Chinese but to me the food is nice! Just be careful, some of them are quite spicy…

I took my parents to this place on a Monday afternoon, and I have to admit I was not entirely impressed with this place. We ordered their $ 8.99 special which included 1 vegetable, 1 lentil(Daal), 4 chapatti’s(Indian flatbread), rice, a small samosa and dessert. The actual taste of the food was not bad, but I was dissapointed that they didn’t make their flatbreads fresh; they were already pre-made and not made-to-order. The water they offered to drink also had a weird smell to it. The interaction I had with the lady behind the counter left much to be desired; i.e. it was very confusing and I still have no idea what she was trying to say. Bombay Express on 13000 N I-35, offers a $ 7.99 special which includes 2 vegetables, a lentil soup, and fresh made-to-order flatbreads along with their specials. The place is nice and clean and their food tastes fresh and authentic. I would rather suggest going to Bombay Express as opposed to Curry in a Hurry.

Ahh, food reviews! When you read the critics reviews you can often times see that the moniker of «Ethnic Cuisine» is often times frowned upon these days. Probably because most establishments use it as a way to up-sell their food as being«Authentic», which in most cases just isn’t true at all. I will say this. Buyer beware, when you read or hear anything that says Ethnic Cuisine, or Authentic… no matter what. It is hard to find Chinese food that is truly Authentic, and that has not actually been«Americanized», or changed in some fashion. This can and is often held true for most eateries. Now, Curry in Hurry, has always been on my radar since I have moved into the Austin area from San Antonio. I had always just placed it on the back burner.(mostly it is because Curried food has never set well with my innards, and often times caused me to have severe migraines… and that my friends is hard to deal with, because curry is good eats.) My darling wife has eaten here a number of times and always given it high praise. So, I have taken the time to eat here, and experienced its wonderful tasting food. Here, the food is not served in the typical restaurant fashion, but more of a cafeteria style, with the host or server behind the lines preparing your dishes. Now, it does not matter what style of cuisine I am eating, or where it is at. There are dishes that I will order that will ultimately be the bar as to how I rate most places. For Mexican food, it is carne guisada, and for Indian food it would be Paneer Tikka Masala. The common food choice for myself. So Curry in Hurry has a weekly menu that changes from week to week and can be found on the website. I chose the the day when the daily special was the Paneer Tikka Masal. When I entered the establishment I was very pleased to see the high number Indian’s and Pakistani’s present which kind of gives this place the«ethnic cuisine» moniker for me.(even though it does not advertise in such a way) A very good sign. I ordered the daily special and was given really excellent service, even when there was some language barrier issues, bu we muddled through nicely. The food was not what you would call classic restaurant presentation food, but let me tell you the taste, and the quality spoke volumes! The flavors exploded, and flooded your palate with yummy delight. The paneer masala, the chole masala, the cumin rice and samosa’s were absolutely delightful and delicious in every way. It truly felt as if they stood in my kitchen and cooked this meal just for me, as they would have done so for their own family. Not all Curry, or Indian food in general are created equally. There are just as many styles of Indian food as there are in Chinese food. Each region of India has its own nuances of flavor and dishes, and each restaurant has its own origin or regional background. So they’re subtle to distinctive difference from place to place. Here at Curry in Hurry, I found that there are no food items, or dishes that I did not like or enjoy and for me that is saying something. I give this place a solid 5 stars for its food. I would say that this place falls into that most beloved category of the classic Mom & Pop hole in the wall establishment. «Cause, there just ain’t no place like Mom and Pop’s to fill your belly and make you feel like your back home again.»

Excellent! Only thing better than the food was the service – the ladies working here were super helpful and let me sample everything to make sure I got what I wanted. I got the daily special which was a sampling of everything, I’m not big on sweets but even liked the dessert! Wish it was a tad more spicy.

Wow, how the heck did I not realize that this is a *vegetarian* restaurant?!? LOL. I apologize for this uninformative review upfront but I thought I would share my hilarious/confusing experience anyway. I’m sure I’m not the first person to make this mistake. Well, I like Indian food and I’ve had this place bookmarked as one of the most highly rated Indian food places around my house. Therefore, when I walked into the place one Saturday afternoon, I had high expectations. I was greeted by a dimly lit cafeteria style room, completely empty except 2 scruffy looking Indian dudes in the corner. I walked up to the counter but nobody was there. I looked at the silver serving trays and looked at the labels. What the heck are these? Where are my tikki masalas? Now the Indian dudes are looking at me. I walked over to the other end of the counter. Nobody. I felt so out of place. Then finally, a lady came out from the back and asked me what I want. I asked for recommendations. She pointed at the menu above, then pointed to the serving trays, and said some words. I couldn’t understand any of it. It might be the accent. But I’m a PhD student in Computer Science! I should be used to Indian accents since I hang out with a ton of Indian students. Still, I couldn’t understand anything but the words«special combo». I’m desperate at this point so I just said, «I’ll have the special combo to go». It worked!!! So for $ 8.99, I got some kind of curry with potatoes, some lentil stuff, samosa, naan, some kind of sweet sauce, and some kind of dessert that’s green on the inside and coated in silver on the outside. I’m such a noob at vegetarian Indian food. What an experience. When I got home and realized that none of the items had any meat in them, my wife pitied me so much that she microwaved me some Chinese pork chop. Oh btw, the food was okay actually. I just had no idea what I was eating and I was barely half full after finishing everything.

Mmmmm I am a sucker for Indian food and this place is somewhat close to my work so I figured I’d give it a try. When I saw in the description that it was pretty much fast food Indian I was skeptical, but Curry in a Hurry was way better than I expected. It’s located in a small strip mall and seemed very quiet and low key, still skeptical at this point lol. When I walked in they had like a cafeteria style line up with all sorts of selections that were ready to go. They also had a full menu where you could order anything fresh. So many things looked good but I decided to go with the paneer(cottage cheese in a creamy tomato sauce), some sort of chicken on top of their rice. The flavors were all so amazing! It was only $ 6.99 for two selections on top of rice and she gave me nan also! If you’re a vegetarian, def try that paneer! Mmmm can’t wait to go back!

Had this last night! She was super helpful and let us try samples! It was all very good! Spicy and good! Try the samosas. If you want curry in a hurry this is definitely the place to go. It is already made so you just go in and out. All vegetarian dishes if that is what you are looking for :)

Being originally from Houston I missed finding little pockets of Indian restaurants to eat at, and today, with a particularly strong curry craving, I made my way to Curry in Hurry. Walking in, the restaurant has an echoed sound, and in the front is a sort of cafeteria-buffet full of delicious vegetarian options for the choosing. I picked the special, as I wanted to scarf the entire menu down and took a seat in the front. The multitude of curried spices with the thickness of coconut milk had a wonderful aroma, and I completely annihilated the buttered paneer curry. I wasn’t too fond of the desert, which was somewhat of a cake donut hole soaked in a sweet honey sauce — as I’m not a fan of super sweet items. The only qualm I had about this place is that it took 15 minutes to pay for our meal, as we came during lunch and the cashier was swamped taking orders over phone, making plates, and ringing up others at the register.

I love Curry in Hurry. Great food. All Vegetarian. Ready to go. The menu changes each day, so sometimes, it may not be as good as others. Their aloo sabzi(sp?) is awesome. The daals are all great. I usually opt for their meal deal, which gets you one curry, one daal, roti, and rice for a great price. I’ve never disliked a dish I’ve ordered here. The last time I visited, they had butter paneer. A very rare dish to find vegetarian, in my experience. Their stuffed naans are terrific. The aloo and paneer, especially. There was some weird«pizza masala» that just bothered me by the name alone, but it was actually really good. I feel my four stars are a bit skewed. Curry in Hurry is really a jack of all trades, master of none. EVERYTHING is tasty but if you’re craving a particular dish, this isn’t the place to go. Their deserts are all refrigerated so, despite the fact that they’re made in house, they really aren’t as good as they could be. If I make a better gulab jamun what reason do I have to buy your refrigerated version? I don’t like lassi’s but the friends I’ve brought here have lauded them. My big problem with Curry in Hurry is that… There is no way I would come here if I was in a hurry. They absolutely refuse to let you pay for your Luby’s style meal after you receive it. They order you to sit, eat, then pay. Which means you are waiting in a second line after you eat, for payment. I work five minutes from them, but I would never attempt to try them on my limited lunch break. Of the dozens of times I’ve dined here, there has never been more than one server and once chef,. And they do get busy. In full disclosure, I will admit that one time I did see a roach on the food line. I didn’t mind because… I’m gross. If this is something that bothers you, you may not want to come here. I just can’t resist unfailingly great food at a terrific price. If you let me pay at the counter and keep your jamuns heated, I would easily come here twice a week.

What is it that I desired? Curry. What was I short on? Time. How can I possibly get what I want with such constraints? CURRYIN A HURRY. So I finally made my way in and it was perfect. I stood there for a moment perusing the menu, troubled by the myriad of choices. So as to keep my lack of time in check, I went for the daily special. Kadai paneer, kala chana, jeera rice, paratha, a samosa, and a dessert. The paneer and chana dishes were DELICIOUS, particularly the kadai paneer. The kala chana was very good, but I would have liked a little more spice. The samosa could present a problem for me, as it is hands down one of the best I’ve had in town. The staff was very kind and ready to answer any question. I was able to get all of my affairs handled today. And with the great experience that Curry in a Hurry provided today, I will try NOT to be in a hurry so I can try more of their menu.
