Donn’s BBQ

They have the best breakfast tacos. Thier BBQ can sometimes be a little dry which is why I give them 4 stars instead of 5. They are fast, affordable and very friendly. It’s the best restaurant for miles arounds.

This is the worst BBQ I have ever had cycle 3 for old dogs if you like bad sausage dry brisket at county line price You will love Don’s FYI. pretty crappy looking on outside and inside all the locals eat here cause its 15 miles from. Anyplace good

Staff is incredibly caring and attentive helps that food is outstanding. Must try for sure!

Service is usually wonderful and the vibe of this place old school. Love it! The selection is also really good.

As much as I love a long and wordy review, I think short and sweet works best for this one.
I had some pretty serious surgery a while ago. Tubes, induced coma, the whole shebang. When I finally got clearance to eat ACTUAL human food again, my husband asked me what I wanted to eat.

No frills, just good BBQ. If you’re looking for a fancy dine in spot, this is not the place. If you are looking to get in and out and eat great food for a great price, this is a good spot.
Don’t be fooled by the outside appearance. It’s a great spot to eat BBQ.

This is a very delicious place to eat! I have been eating BBQ from here for years. Come check this place out and try the Brisket and Potato salad. The breakfast tacos are absolutely delicious especially the Migas Taco. The atmosphere is very much traditional BBQ restaurant.

I dropped in for some lunch the other day. I didn’t know what to expect but I knew I didn’t want to go to Jim’s across the street.
Small parking lot but there were only 3 other sets of customers when I walked in.
I ordered two brisket taco plate Borracho beans and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Sides of onions and pickles, sweet tea, and I inquired about the pecan pie.
The gentlemen at the registered informed me that they were made by and different company. After I paid and walked towards my seat. He told me that the pies were still really good.
X games was on the TV. I was watching and really enjoying the food. The beans were great. Brisket, very tasty. Sauce, very complimentary to the meat. I only used what I needed. The Potatoes were very good with the brown gravy. I’ll try the white next time.
Didn’t want to leave when I finished. Still watching games and thoroughly enjoyed my meal so I got a piece of the coconut cream pie. Didn’t want to risk such a good meal ending with a bad pecan pie experience. Almost lost a ½ star for the pies not being homemade, however the coconut cream pie was pretty good.
By the time I was ready to walk outside, the place had at least 7 sets of guests and several take out orders had passed through.
I am not a critic, I am a customer.

Little hole in the wall with big flavor! The potatoes are sooooo good and the breakfast tacos are to die for. I will definitely come back again and again. I’m glad a friend referred me to this place!

I really like Donns brisket, chicken, sausage… All the bbq here is awesome. The sides are really rich and flavorful too… going here is always a treat

Mediocre BBQ, soggy sides. I make a point to visit as many barbecue joints as I can in the Central Texas area. This was my first and last time at Donn’s.
Life is too short and there are so many better places…

Stopped in here for a quick bite. Had a chopped beef with sides of coleslaw and potatoe salad. Chopped beef sandwich was big and plate was very reasonably priced. Sides were good but nothing award winning. Ice cold Big Red on the side, worth every penny.
This place will do if you just want some pretty good BBQ. I will defiantly be back.

Really bad food meet taste expired or not cooked all the way or something else but really really bad I couldnt stand the ribs (which was sheffs recomendation) so I traded it for something simple hoping its going to be good enough to eat but it wasnt turky was awful the only thing about this place that was ok is the service thats why they get 2 stars not 1

So many places in the Austin area look horrendously divey but end up being really good, and Donn’s is almost an ur-​example of that trend. It’s the kind of place that looks like a bad decision at 5am.
Fortunately, that is NOT a bad decision, but not because of the BBQ which is, while good, not the best thing about the restaurant, but for the breakfast tacos, which are very, very tasty, and just about the only thing available anywhere in the area on an early, early morning before an all-​day outing.
It’s strange to say you come to a divey-​looking BBQ place for the tacos, but that’s Austin in a nutshell!

We just moved to the neighborhood and decided on this location during a rainy night. We decided on take out. My husband said that the service was prompt and courteous. We ordered two combo meals and enjoyed them very much. My okra was delicious and fried to perfection. The sausage was that perfect peppery and juicy type with a crisp casing. The sauce was a mouthwatering addition and they include bread as well. We had a great experience and will definitely be visiting again.

Don’t judge this restaurant by its exterior. It’s a little neighborhood eating establishment and very, very tasty too. Lately, we’ve had some ucky bbq from around the area and was a little nervous about trying more. Thankfully, this place has down to earth delicious bbq at affordable prices.
I had the chopped chicken sandwich with Mac & cheese and fried okra. The okra was addictive crunchiness even after it cooled down. The chopped chicken tender and flavorful. My husband had the brisket sandwich and said it was very good. We both had some of his fries and yes, they were still delicious even kinda cold. You can dine in or take out. Boy, are the folks in that neighborhood lucky to have such good quality bbq right on the corner!

Ok my favorite part of any bbq place is the potato salad. I love this place. Bbq is good. Nothing to really compare to. I just really dislike other bbq places potato salad. So I drive from round rock.
Opens early. Breakfast tacos are good too. Usually have a special on outside board (4 bbq sandwiches for 13.00)

Besides a bar, what place is open at 5:30 in the morning and can make you regret certain decisions? Donn’s is the answer. I’m glad we got these tacos to go because they are some good, I’d have ordered much more. It’s 5:30 AM and I wanted to go fishing at Walter E Long. For the furthest miles that you could not see (it’s well before sunrise), nothing was open. Being that it was a last resort, I thought it was going to be meh, I’m not hungry anymore. I ordered a brisket and egg taco and I was wrong on both accounts. One definitely left me feeling full to the point of loosening up the belt and I was not at all disappointed. Next time, I’m gonna have to enjoy a full on plate.

Donn’s is OK.
I’ve had the whirlwind tour of the menu, which is to say I’ve had most of the BBQ and sides they offer.
I have never had great BBQ here. Good, yes. But never great.
I’ve had sour beans here. I’ve had several bones in my chopped chicken sandwich.
I’ve had killer fried okra and wonderful potato salad here too.
My advice is to go to lunch and order from the lunch special menu. It is by far the best way to get the most bang for your buck.
The tipping point between 2 and 3 stars is the cleanliness of the place. It is an older building, but it is always very clean. Also, the staff is very nice and accommodating.
