A couple of my buddies came up from out of town and we were cruising on Mt Bonnell when we came across this hidden gem. Reason for the 4 star is because the parking is very limited, part of my truck was parked in a bush, but the atmosphere is very homey. We went around 5:30 and stayed until sunset. The view at around that time is what you go for, along with the 2.75 Beers. I recommend coming and would definitely go again. Also if you do go bring $$$ as it is a cash bar.

Small wodden shack in the middle of a millionaire house route. People are very nice, friendly and welcoming. Beers are cheap! Paid $ 5.50 for an Austin Beerworks can and an Angry Orchard Cider. Upstairs deck is good to relax, get some sunshine(or shade). It’s a clasicc divey, old, dusty bar with a vintage jukebox and pool table. And all of these things make it wonderful. Will be back.

One of the best hidden gems in Austin. Great dive bar with tons of character and awesome jut-box. People are friendly and the beers are cheap. Make sure to bring cash!

The out of the way bar has been around for many decades, and it shows. It’s old Austin, full of unique character — and the only 45 jukebox in town! The bartender is as sweet as can be, full of stories of the place and it’s former owner. The beers are all under $ 4. With limited hours(generally 4−9pm), it’s the perfect place for a sunset.

Not into this place with the 9 year old girl telling me how to play pool and the 70 year old men hitting on us, within the same first hour we were there. So many other places to go get a good beer and a positive vibe in Austin. Hey, I used to think this place was ok… just not now, that Sarah(the original owner) is gone…

A hidden Austin sunset spot with roof top views and cold cheap brews($ 2.50 banquets). My friend Diana clued me in to this after a hike today. Perfect ending to the day.

Had 2.5 hours to kill so came to nearest bar. It’s like stepping back 50 years. It’s old, worn down and funky. You’ll love it if you’re into that, otherwise you drink your beer(only thing they serve) and get out.

on a whim took Mt. Bonnell Rd south, off FM2222 and stumbled upon this gem– I couldn’t drive past w/out stepping inside. 5 stars: price of cold shiner($ 2.75– cash only). return bottle to bar. 5 stars: they have a plethora of coozies– choose wisely 5 stars: awesome jukebox with classic 45s. Give me Patsy Cline & Waylon Jennings any night 5 stars patio: not so much for the view of the sunset(house built way after this place came around blocks some it now) — but 5 stars for the openness, sky, and general quietness. 5 stars: laid back atmosphere, including pool table

I really love this place! as others have mentioned, it represents true Austin culture of the past. They are open from 4 to 9 everyday. There is no A/C. It’s a creative choice when looking for a place to have a beer. After talking with Angel who runs the place, business is good this year and they recently had the busiest day in 3 years, so hopefully they will be around for many more!

This place is truly Austin. Great place to grab a beer. It has been there since the road by it was a dirt road. Nice place to sit outside given the weather permits. It certainly is out of the way but a popular place for people in the surrounding area to have a beer at the end of the day. Dry creek Sara sadly isn’t alive anymore but her legacy is kept alive by this bar and its hand drawn open sign. It’s a little quaint and out there but that’s what gives it so much character.

I have driven past here for years finally decided to stop in and check the place out on Friday afternoon. The beer was cold, the service fast and friendly. The décor and building does not look like it has been updated since the 1960’s. We went upstairs to check out the view, it was ok. I have a similar view from home so I was a bit disappointed with theirs. I also was a little afraid the deck might collapse. All things considered the place is quaint, has a lot of history and the service is good. Drop in for a quick visit before it drops in the next major windstorm!

Paradise perched on Mt. Bonnell and located just 15 minutes from downtown Austin. Dry Creek is a hidden gem that still serves $ 2 beer and has a jukebox filled with scratchy old 45’s by the likes of Ray Price and Tammy Wynette. An upstairs patio overlooks the greenbelt and is a perfect spot for a romantic pre-dinner drink or hanging out with a group of friends. Super casual and helping to keep Austin weird. There’s a rumor that the Wilson Brothers love this place. No sighting yet, but keep an eye out. You may want to wear mosquito repellent and by all means, don’t forget to bring your empties down to the bartender.

Amongst the million dollar mansions on Lake Austin, there lives a dive bar by the name of Dry Creek. Yeah, that’s correct, I said dive bar. At this particular dive bar, you walk in to be greeted by the owner sitting in front of a cooler of beer and watching t.v. The upstairs deck is where the magic happens at this place. It’s old, it needs a coat of paint, and looks like its made out of plywood but it has plastic tables and chairs with a decent view of the lake. The view would be much better if there wasn’t some kind of large house garage obstructing the view, but the atmosphere is still hard to beat. The hours are only 4 – 9 so come after work and stay till sunset.

In my mind this place is better described as a tree fort for adults than a bar. Dry Creek offers a couple beers(Woo! Pearl!). They provide a coozie as well to keep your beer fresh. This fort is cash only as well with no ATM so please come prepared. The hours at this place makes a statement Monday through Saturday 4:00-ish to 9:00-ish. Great setting, laid back atmosphere. Grab your beer and head upstairs to relax and talk. Interesting mix of people. You’ve got people in their 60’s who’ve been coming since they were at UT, you’ve got westlake hills trophy wives with nothing better to do, and a lot of good random others I have yet to label. No, it’s not that clean, No, it will not have that wine you like, but again, this is a tree fort. Bring down your empties before each round, tip nicely and enjoy the view.

beer in an old fish tackle supply shack. Nice views. Simple, rugged, and now an oxymoron with the mansions everywhere. They have a small beer selection but it’s ALL about ambiance. Bring a friend for a chat. They have weird hours.
