Emily gives me the most consistent and best haircuts I’ve had in my curly-​headed life. She serves the curly-​headed community in Austin so well that I feel pretty much every time I ask another curly-​headed woman with a good haircut who cuts her hair, inevitably it’s Emily!

Five stars and two thumbs up! Emily really knows how to cut hair! I am one of the toughest critics and a total perfectionist about my «effortless» style. My wavy/​curly locks are my signature and since moving to Austin (4 years back) I haven’t found anyone that could do my hair justice. I’ve even flown back to MInneapolis to have my hair cut a few times. That’s sad. Anyway, I was referred to Emily (by a man with a great haircut), problem solved. My Hair = stunning once again.

I was very happy with the blonde balayage look that Emily gave 2 weeks ago. That was my first time seeing Emily because I recently moved to Austin. I will absolutely go back to see Emily. She worked with me to understand what I wanted and made sure it fit within my budget. If you are looking for a spa like atmosphere this may not be the salon for you, but if you want amazing hair and a welcoming environment this is your place! Also, Jen is an awesome admin and extra helper in the salon. She helps clients feel welcome and comfortable.

I have no idea what has happened to Emily. I have been going to her for several years
and would get a lot of compliments on my hair and I was happy with it. For awhile now, maybe 8 months my hair has been looking worse and worse. On my last appointment, I asked her to not cut more layers, but only lightly trim the ends.
I have very fine hair and fine hair does not work well with lots of layers. Layers make
fine hair look stringy. Instead of doing what I asked she cut a whole bunch more layers and made it really short. It looks really ragged and stringy. I have not been getting compliments from people for awhile now. Another thing, she let her appointment girl put color in my hair! That girl did not know what she was doing
and I had to tell her where to put the color. Lastly, she styled my hair really badly last
time and I had to go home and rewash and redo my hair, after spending way too much money. Maybe this is some phase she is going through and hopefully she will get back to cutting and styling nicely, but… I’m not going back.

I met Emily when she styled my hair for a friend’s wedding, and when it was the first (and only time, still) that I’ve actually LOVED my wedding-​do, I decided to visit her for a cut & color a few months later. I’ve been seeing her ever since (2 yrs now), & couldn’t be more obsessed with her technique, the results, and her energetic personality. Emily is literally the first stylist I’ve found who can actually translate what we discuss into reality for me. She has extreme attention to detail, is patient, and ensures you leave feeling beautiful. I like to change my style a lot, and I have never, ever left her adorable salon dissatisfied (& I can admit that I am a particular, fussy lady.) Also can’t tell you how many times folks have asked me to share her name/​# with them after stopping me while I’m out, seeing her masterful results. Go see Emily at Lucy Skyrocket Salon! SHE’S A GEM!

Emily is awesome. I have very think, coarse, wavy hair and Emily has helped me select the right products to use to keep my hair healthy and feeling wonderful. She listens well to what my concerns are and is always able to make my hair look fabulous. She’s made great suggestions that have really made a difference in both look and feel. And, for special occasions, she has done a masterful job in making me look my very best. I highly recommend Emily and her salon (which is adorable).

I’ve never had so many compliments on my hair as since I’ve been going to Emily. I’ve also never had such consistently great results. That’s not to say she gives me the same thing every time – although she has, and easily can. But I often come in wanting to do something slightly different and fun, but within my conservative comfort zone, and Emily always has great ideas and excellent execution. This last time we added bright auburn lowlights, and I love them. Emily’s cuts are meticulous – one curl at a time, and when she’s finished they fall beautifully, and best of all (because I am lazy about upkeep), her cuts grow out so well that I have to come in to have my hair thinned out a little to make it easier to manage long before I actually need a haircut to make it look better. Her highlights are great for curly hair – she grabs individual curls, not random chunks of hair, so they look so natural and catch the light beautifully. And as an added bonus, she’s great personality-​wise – enthusiastic, upbeat, accommodating but willing to be creative if you want her to, a really hard worker, and just fun and easy to talk to. (I’ve actually had to leave hairdressers because I felt overwhelmed by their constant drama that I seemed to just be a handy audience for.)

Emily is AMAZING! I am incredibly picky when it comes to my hair. Emily listens to what I want (even when I’m pretty sure I’m not making any sense) and she does a more beautiful job than I could ever expect. I recently had to go from brown hair to blonde for a play. I was really worried about the bleach damaging my hair, but she was very careful and particular about how we did it and it turned out awesome. I get SO many compliments!!! I will never go to any other hair stylist!

Emily is excellent! I was in need of a very new do, and Emily gave me something fun and easy to style. Her salon, Lucy Skyrocket, is a cute little place that makes you feel comfortable, at ease, and like a star. I highly recommend her!

If you have curly hair, then you should be seeing Emily.
I have curly hair that’s pretty low-​maintenance. No matter what she does, it looks good. I’ve had her do wet and dry cuts and they have all turned out fabulous — recently I had her add some highlights to my wintry blonde hair and those too look absolutely amazing. Before I came in for the color she made sure that I bring pics to show her what I had in mind.
Price wise, she is very reasonable and competitive. I’ve been to several other local establishments that do the «dry curly cut» as Emily does, but it just doesn’t last or look half as good as hers. Emily’s cuts will last and continue to look great even after you leave.

I’ve never been loyal to a particular hair person because before Emily I’ve never really been 100% happy whenever I left the salon. Emily was recommended to me by a friend and now I don’t know what I would do if he ever left Austin. She gave me the best blonde color with so many textures that even my bangs looked better (if that’s possible) and just recently she made me a dark brown brunette and both times I’ve left so excited about my new hair. She is phenomenal with color. She asks me for my preferences throughout the entire process to make sure I’m getting exactly what I want. She’s the best.

Emily is a rare gem when it comes to creating a style that fits your personality for both work and fun. She takes the time to understand what you are looking for and has the ability to create a look that will leave you smiling.
I have sent nearly a dozen friends to her in the past year and every one of them has been extremely impressed. If you are looking for a cut that will attract frequent compliments, give her a shot… you won’t be disappointed!
