I simply have no words nor enough lifetime to express how grateful me and my wife feel with the service Chef Jose Alberto provided. He was our caterer for our rehearsal dinner and in a nut shell, he and his team surpassed all expectations. Allow me share more details on this. When we met with him, we gave him a few very specific requests. It needed to be affordable, we wanted the food to be reflective of central America and the Caribbean(given that me and my family are from Panama), and we wanted all this to be done in a relatively small kitchen of the house that we rented. Chef Jose Alberto, with a smile in his face and a confidence of a true master, said yes, I can do this… and he did! The day of the rehearsal dinner, I got there a bit early and Chef Jose Alberto and his team were already working very diligently, making«empanadas» from scratch!!!, cooking an exquisite chicken dish(cooked to perfection!!!), and my favorite part, cooking fried green and ripe plantains… something that’s always present in Caribbean cuisine. Last but not least, the dessert was simply delicious. One more thing I’d like to add, and it’s probably why Chef Jose Alberto will always be our caterer to go from now on… he cooked this amazing chicken soup, so authentic that it made me and my family feel back in Panama and gave my new American family a new exquisite perspective of the amazing cuisine we have over there. Chef Jose Alberto made a really huge batch so we could not only have it at the rehearsal dinner, but for the day after our wedding… a true gift from a true master. Thank you so much Chef Jose Alberto for your amazing talent and so grateful and honored to have had you in one of the happiest days or our lives. We recommend him 10000000000000000%.

Great Empanadas! Can’t wait to eat his other food. I thought there was no good Colombian food here. I only get Colombian food when I go to Houston, not anymore. The map points you to Dallas Night Club, because he serves his empanadas at this club Thursday and Sunday nights. The address shown(from my understanding) is where his truck is located. I went to Dallas Night Club yesterday and pick up 12 empandas, I am eating them now.

Full disclosure: I know the owner of this trailer and happen to be friends with him. Now that that’s out of the way, let me get to the good stuff. No, let me get to the excellent stuff — THEFOOD! Chef Alberto is a Cali, Colombia native and has dedicated his trailer to showcasing Latin American street food. His most popular item, also the trailer’s namesake, is the Cali-style Empanada that he serves fresh and crispy. The empanadas are encased in a corn masa(dough) and have a meat and potato filling. It’s not your average meat and potatoes, though. These empanadas pack serious flavor! He also offers arroz con pollo(chicken and rice), mofongo(a popular plantain dish in Puerto Rico), and vegetarian empanada varieties. If I could, I’d eat them all err’day! Side items include maduros(sweet plantains that are to die for!), tostones(crispy fried plantains that I’d kill for, seriously!), and his famous aji salsa. The flavor of that salsa is undescribable, you’ve just gotta try it to know how delicious it is. Go for the empanadas, and while you’re there, order one of the sides. Then when you realize what a flavor revelation this trailer has to offer, go back and order some more. It really is THAT good.
