I’d love to review it, but the angry dog at the door wouldn’t let me in. Not a sign of an employee. Seems like a strange way to run a retail establishment.

The guy working was rude and anti-social. All of which could be somewhat overlooked if they had a larger selection of records. They didn’t.

This place is great! So glad I came across this store. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and I feel like my business is sincerely appreciated every time I make a purchase. Even if I can’t find what I am looking for, they will either order it or let me know when they will have it again. Keep up the good work!

As far as used vinyl goes. Pretty non existent unless you like really old stuff. They had an awesome selection of new vinyl, some were over priced but others were an alright deal. If you have good taste in music and don’t mind spending 15 – 25 dollars for each record then this place is pretty cool. You can usually find better deals online which is the only draw back

Skimpy used CD and Vinyl selection. For CD’s, basically one or two offerings from some well known bands/artists, with a few obscure things, but basically they only thing notable is a bunch of bargain priced greatest hits CD’s that they price to high. There is one bin of used, not in very good condition Vinyl, and then a miss match selection of brand new, sealed vinyl. As these things go, that means all the new stuff is way over priced. Very seldomly do I buy newly sealed vinyl, I am not sure if I get it? Some are nearly $ 30, and if you can get the same thing used, in good condition, you will not no the difference in sound quality and often times for less then about a 1⁄3rd of that price. Of coarse, that means a record store actually has to have some stock to browse through, which these guys don’t have. The one person at the register did not seem to care if I was in the store or not, and I was the only customer. Pretty much a waist of time to come here.

On the positive side, the staff guy was very engaging and friendly. I really appreciate that! The selection at this store is just thin. They are stronger on the new side than the used. Glad I stopped in but not a hot spot to stop as a collector.

I was so pleased with this shop. They will order for you if they don’t have it in stock. The man there was very friendly and talked with me awhile even though we had opposite tastes in music. It was a laid back store with a decent selection. I would definitely go there again when I am in Austin.

Chuck and the staff at Encore records are excellent. They have a unique blend of new and used records, CD’s and DVD’s. It’s refreshing in the time of Itunes and mp3’s that there is still a mom and pop’s record store in Austin. Chuck has always been supportive of the local music scene especially the metal scene in Austin. He has gone out of his way to have local in-store performances and he’s always up front and first rate. If I had one thing to keep it out of a 5 star rating it would be a larger selection of vinyl. But that’s it. Like I said, they carry some hard to find dvd’s and cd’s and if your looking for something a little different, Encore is the place to go to.
