A healthy food truck?! I wasn’t sure what this truck was carrying since the name on the side of the truck is pretty non-descriptive but I probably passed by the truck off of Medical Pkway about 25 times before I finally looked them up. And I am soooo glad that I did. I’ve been watching what I eat lately(hello bathing suit season in Texas) but sometimes making your own chicken/rice/veggie combo can get boring or you didn’t meal plan the way you were told to-oops. Anyway, I had the spicy brisket with brown rice(like I said, real bored of chicken lately). I loved the little salad and Vietnamese vinaigrette that came with it too! If your looking for something healthy and convenient, definitely check this truck out!

— I hate leaving 3 star reviews but I was just not very impressed. I saw the rave reviews on Unilocal and was expecting something a little better. Pros: — Lemon grass chicken = very delicious and seasoning was on point. — Dumplings = were delicious probably my favorite out of all the food I tried here! — Portions are big! Cons: — Lack of flavor: I tried the noodles with the lemon grass chicken. The noodles were so plain and they didn’t seem like they had any seasoning or flavor. There was a side salad with some dressing for the salad I think… I just put it on the noodles and salad. It helped add flavor to the noodles. — I also tried the siracha brisket with rice and it didn’t give me the wow factor. Just like the noodles the rice also seemed plain tasting with no seasoning or flavor. Overall, the owner was very kind and helpful! I loved the dumplings and how you can customize your meal. There is room for improvement though… This place probably wouldn’t be my first choice to visit again given my recent experience.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise. Everything we had was fresh and perfectly prepared. Will swing by next week for lunch and explore the menu deeper.

I would definitely go back, but it was just ok. There are some picnic tables, and low car traffic makes it ok to sit outside. The food came out fast and the cook was nice. A tad overpriced.

Tofu on salad was amazing. The tofu is fried — but so light it melts in your mouth. Sauces are super tasty too!

Absolutely love this place! I go here when I’m looking for something fast, fresh and convenient. I usually get the chicken salad with the vinaigrette and cucumber salad. The owner is a super nice guy too– ALWAYS service with a smile!

It really is what every other review says it is. Amazingly fresh and deliciously seasoned Asian food! Even the rice by itself tasted so good with all those bits of sautéed shallots! I can’t wait to go back and eventually try the whole menu! Update: I have found my favorite! The brisket scallion pancake! O.M.G. It is a very tender, flavorful(seasoned with 10 spices) concoction rolled into an Asian style pancake! It served with a delicious side of Sriracha, I dipped each bite in this, as well as a bed of fresh greens and rice. I already know in going to crave this often! Food trucks just don’t get any better than this! And I realize that is a huge statement here in Austin! Thank you Hoby!

I work walking distance from this truck and I can’t believe I just discovered it. This will definitely become part of my regular lunch rotation. The food is perfect. It’s light, healthy, and delicious. The noodle box with pork tasted just like dishes I had in Vietnam. Hoby knows what he’s doing. For all you Texans out there, don’t be afraid! I saw at least 3 people turn away from the truck because they hear«Authentic Asian Food» and get scared. If I can give one piece of advice, JUSTTRYIT. You will NOT be disappointed.

First time here today and can honestly say it beats out all other places for my asian food fix besides maybe Don. I ordered the lemongrass chicken over rice with Thai curry and my girlfriend got the beef over noddles with Vietnamese vinaigrette. Both were amazing but had their own distinct flavors. They are also a lot of fresh greens with each bowl, something that most similar places don’t do(zen, don, cocos). Also the owner hoby is a cool dude!

This place is on our way to central market. We stopped by on a Friday night 10 minutes after 9PM. The owner had already closed but chose to make us food anyway and it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back.

Checked out this food truck on the recommendation of a coworker and it did not disappoint! Wish I had taken a picture of the food I ordered, but it was all delicious! Got the scallion pancakes with brisket(to die for), salt and pepper chicken, and my super favorite — cucumber side! I wish it were closer to where I work b/c I’d be coming here every day!

Amazing food! Had the Siracha Brisket Scallion Pancake roll and it was love at first bite. The owner was really friendly as well. We will be coming back soon to try the other items on the menu!

This review is long overdue. I went by Hoby’s spot on the second day he was open and was immediately impressed with his offerings. I am now a regular, greeted by name, and served excellent Asian food at very reasonable prices. In fact, I converted my whole office and someone always has Hoby’s fare for lunch. The salt and pepper chicken is fantastic on rice. I usually get it with curry sauce and spicy chili oil. However, my highest recommendation goes to the scallion pancake brisket wrap: a little bit glutinous, but totally delicious! I love Hoby’s Chinese style brisket, it’s a must try. As far as side items go, the dumplings are handmade and taste like your Cantonese grandma’s finest. If you work in the area or are just passing through be sure to try FOB! Highly reccomended.

All the familiar and delicious Asian flavors I’ve come to love and crave, but kicked up a notch and better than ever. I’d been looking for good homemade dumplings in Austin since moving here, and these definitely hit the spot. The scallion pancake brisket wrap I got was also just really delicious. It came with a salad and rice as well, which really rounded out the meal and kept things interesting. Can’t wait to go back and try the other menu items

It would be easy to slap a ubiquitous Unilocal label here and move on. «Yummy Asian street meat!» «Hipster’s Panda Expressiveness!» But what I really think is FOB is a good example of trailer cuisine dilemma: At a $ 9 price point for lunch, do you go for a smaller amount of clever food, but deal with weather, parking, plastic, and having-to-wait issues? Or take the guaranteed comfort zone of a cheap-&-fast in-&-out ginormous lunch special from every brick & mortar Asian place we know? I could argue both ways, but I’m already boring myself. Chef Hoby is running a one man show here, it’s obvious he’s been a pro on kitchen staff, and I’ll bet anything he’s making all his sides and sauces. My salt & pepper battered tofu was good, and I’m curious now about his lemongrass chicken & green onion pancakes. The FOB trailer is at that Shell station lot on 40th& Medical Parkway, right before it becomes Burnet at 45th. There’s always parking across the street up & down Marathon. And with three people ahead of me, I waited just under fifteen-minutes, on a great day to wait. Is FOB doing superb food for nine bucks? Yes. Is FOB the best nine-buck Asian experience on any given day? Let me give that one some thought.

Just saw this on Unilocal today and thought I’d try it out. I drove across town from Ridge-Top hoping the truck was there and it was! Hoby, the owner, was great and friendly. He was pushing the Sriracha Brisket, but for me a little Sriracha goes a long way. I decided to order the Scallion Pancake Roll w/Ginger-Wine Pork, Sweet Plum dressing for the salad, an order of Crab Rangoon and Thai Ice Tea. I also tried the Spicy Thai Curry dressing. It wasn’t anything like I expected spicy thai to be. It tasted like Sriracha and not asian/thai/curry at all. I didn’t care for it, but I can see this flavor fitting in with most of the local Austin flare. The Thai Ice Tea was a good size and meet my expectations, exactly what I was thirsting for. The Crab Rangoon was of the highest quality I’ve ever had. This was NOT that overly sweetened imitation crab meat rangoon that every place pulls out of the deep freezer. It was made with real crab meat and it made all the difference in the world. Once I started the Scallion Pancake Roll was hard to stop eating. I just wanted to continue even though it was more than I could eat comfortably. Here’s to hoping the rest reheats well. Maybe I was just hungry, but man, this was up there with some of the best stuff I’ve eaten in a long time. It was good enough for me to create a Unilocal account to review it. I will be back soon to double check.

As someone else said: great food, big portions, friendly owner. A coworker and I stopped by this truck today as it is near our office, and the experience was great. The food was made fresh to order. The menu is small, but it is a good one.

tl;dr — Great food, big portions, friendly owner I found this truck on Unilocal and had to try it out after reading the other reviews. The truck is next to the Shell station off Medical Pkwy and 40th. It’s where the old Sushi a GoGo truck used to be. Sriracha Brisket Scallion Pancake Roll — Similar to Rice Bowl’s version(which is also very good) with more of a kick. The pancake was the perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and the Brisket was well seasoned. Salt and Pepper Chicken Rice Bowl — Nice crispy tempura crunch on the outside and has a nice spicy kick. Comes on a bed of rice and a little side of greens. If you like chicken nuggets or chicken tenders or fried chicken anything this will hit the spot. Hoby, the owner, was super nice, explained the menu and gave great recommendations. I found my new place for a quick cheap Asian fix in Central Austin. I’ll definitely be back.

I passed by this new food trailer in Rosedale a couple times on my way to People’s Pharmacy during lunch. When I realized it was Asian food, I had to check it out. I ordered the Ginger-Wine Pork Noodle Box for myself and the Lemongrass Chicken Rice Box to take back to my co-worker. The Ginger-Wine Pork was a generous portion of perfectly seasoned, grilled pork with fresh spring mix salad greens & shredded veggies over vermicelli with Vietnamese Vinaigrette dressing. Yumm… a perfect meal in a neat little box!(my co-worker raved about the Lemongrass Chicken too). It was so good, I went back for dinner last night and ordered the Sriracha Brisket — tender with a spicy little kick, along with Thai Curry dressing on the side. Scored again! The owner, Hoby, does the cooking himself and is very welcoming. Don’t let the gas station location deter you. Grab a box to go or join your fellow diners at one of the picnic tables.

On my way to work today I was running a little early and was really hungry, so walking from N. Lamar to Medical Parkway I figured I’d stop at the Shell gas station and get a bag of chips or something to tide me over. Well as I got to the Shell station I noticed a very clean and cool looking food truck. And too my great surprise they had Asian food! Awesome! So I walked up to the window and asked some questions about the menu,(because unfortunately I have a lot of food allergies). The owner(Hoby), who it turns out, came here from the east-coast like myself(where in my opinion the best Asian food stateside is served), answered all of my questions perfectly and made some great suggestions for me. So I decided on the«Grilled Pork With Noodles, Fresh Greens And Plumb Sauce», and then added an order of the«Pan Fried Dumplings With Pork And Mushrooms». All I can say is «DAMN, DAMN, DAMN, DAMN! That was hands down the tastiest and freshest Asian food I’ve had in Texas since I moved here 10 years ago! Seriously! And I search out good Asian food everywhere, especially«Dumplings» which are my favorite food in the world. It’s kinda funny that I just stumbled onto this place. I’m a Taoist so it must have just been the Way.(That means it was meant to be) :)

Glad to have stopped by this new Asian food truck! Pros: –the owner, Hoby, is super friendly and passionate. Apparently he has a food blog?! He asked us if we ever tried REAL salt and pepper chicken, and let us have a sample. The batter and seasoning are on point! I love the fried onions on top! –beef scallion rolls are divine! I prefer these over Rice Bowl’s super flaky rolls. –All main dishes come with a protein, salad and dressing, and a choice among brown rice, jasmine rice, or vermicelli noodles for $ 9. –handmade dumplings! Get ‘em fried or steamed! Fresh dumplings are better than any dumplings you can get at the supermarket! –spicy Thai curry dressing went well with my salad of greens and carrots. I also liked it with the lemon grass chicken! –I was worried that I wouldn’t be full after looking at the pictures, but it was a satisfying portion. Cons: –currently the location is right by a shell gas station on 40th and behind N Lamar. I know the owner’s plan is to move somewhere to attract more people.

I ordered the Chicken Lemongrass main dish and it was very tasty. When you order a main dish, you choose a rice(brown or jasmine) or vermicelli and a dressing for the mixed greens. I got the Thai Curry dressing and was also very good. I’ll be back to try some other things on the menu.
