What great pizza they have! Some of the best thin crust in all of Minnesota I’m quite sure. For sure George’s is much better than Steve’s a couple blocks down the street. Not even close competition. I highly recommend.

Definitely love George’s and always make it appoint to visit when I’m home visiting. BUT I will never come around if Dewight is around. My husband, my brother, friend, and myself came in with my husband’s service dog. Not only did he scream to get her out of here.(Who also was in his arms) He was completely rude and yelling. As we presented the Paperwork he looked at the paperwork rolled his eyes and said whatever. As we walk to our table he said«fucking stupid» REALLY. Not to mention he has a full beard and no hair net over it. HEMAKESPIZZAS. I definitely will be calling the owner who we personally know. Love the food and people. But don’t ever let him touch your food without washing his hands and no hairnets. Oh and tells my brother who works there that if he requests days off he can’t be here. My husband who’s in the service came home and everyone is okay with his brother taking days off. He had our server tell him and not dewight who is a manager.

Georges for me is the BEST pizza place in town! They make incredible thin crust pizza that is to die for! They also have a variety of other good foods including spaghetti and other various italina items. Outside of the pizza I highly recommend the Gondola! It’s a warm sandwich that include various meats and veggies(or whatever you want on it). Their garlic cheese bread is also the best in town! For pizza that have a number of specialties but I usually stick to the basics — Italian sausage and beef(the italian sausage are sausage balls and they use ground beef). The environment is pretty basic and blah so nothing great there. They do have a space where kids can go up and watch the pizzas being made which is neat(I still remember doing this as a kid!). The price is a little more spendy than what you would pay at a Godfathers or Domino’s but the cost is well worth it!

Apparently there was some big schisim between George’s and Steve’s pizza… at least that’s how the story goes. When I last lived in Austin I was 5 years old so I can’t say for sure. Luckily I got the chance to try ‘the original Austin pizza place’, this past week. The crust was super thin, and the pizzas were good for sharing, size-wise. But the sauce just didn’t really do it for me… whether it just wasn’t too flavorful or there wasn’t enough of it, I can’t say. Still, it was tasty enough that I split a pizza with Bill. They also have cute little glasses of MGD, or High Life… I can’t remember(which shows those aren’t my typical beers of choice). But they were just too precious not to get one — in other news I think that’s the first time I’ve used the term ‘precious’ to describe a beer. As for the nachos… that was a bit confusing. Their menu includes: Nachos with Salsa, Nachos with Cheese, Nachos with Jalapenos, Nachos with Beef, etc. This led me to ask… ‘nachos with cheese? don’t all nachos have cheese by definition?‘ There was some discussion at our table about whether there was such a thing as a ‘nacho chip’, but it became apparent that this was kind of an ‘à la carte’ nacho situation. We ordered nachos with beef, salsa, jalapenos and cheese… and everything showed up on the side in tiny bowls. Weird. I could comment on the décor, which included a selection of random items, but why spoil the fun… George’s would be a recommended stop for an interested Unilocaler in Austin but if I were in town again I’d have to hit up Steve’s so I could compare. Bonus, their dining room is open as late as they deliver: 1am! Score!

One of two great independent pizza shops in town. I suggest the Greek, but there is also a pizza that isn’t on the menu called the Beckle special that is very good.
