High Pointe Baptist Church

Because I go to hear God’s truth, I give HPBC five stars. We checked out three other churches in Austin upon moving to the area. They were all good churches with solid teaching of the Bible so it was hard to choose. At HPBC, everyone is very welcoming and friendly. They have this newcomer’s lunch every second Sunday of the month where they treat you to good food and you meet some of elders of the church who tell you about the church. It was easy to get plugged in. I love the diversity; families with babies and teenagers to very old members, different races and ethnic backgrounds and there is an Ethopian church that has church in one of the rooms upstairs.

Well, it depends on what you are looking for in a church. We were attending a large church in Gtwn and determined that for our family (with young male children) that we wanted a church where women dressed appropriately… good luck right! We were also after sound doctrine, energetic delivery, topical with some expository teaching, great fellowship, and contemporary music.
Well this church met most of our needs: good fellowship (personal decision to participate), a mix of traditional music with some contemporary (hymns mostly… not as moving to me, but great message), sound doctrine, energetic mostly, expository 95% and occasional topical– all of these things we had found at a few other churches… but the DEAL MAKER for us… the women dress appropriately! No exposed cleavage, no tight blue jeans on stage, pretty and traditional.
I guess it comes down to what you want for your life. We could find all the right mixes in several great churches in the Austin area; however, I did not want me or my son distracted by scantily clad women… I knew I was not perfect and found myself easily distracted.
We joined!
