Be very wary of using this shop, if you choose to roll the dice by going here. If they do a simple job like a brake job or oil change they seem to be ok, but any major service that requires replacement or rebuilding of any engine or tranny parts and you may find yourself frustrated and out thousands of dollars.
I’ll keep this story short, but more than 3 years ago I took my car, a 2005 Dodge SRT-​4, to HK Auto for a transmission rebuild because the owner, Jason, talked me into bringing it to him with a very low price. It look over a month to get the rebuild done, but I was just happy to have it done and I got it back. Shortly after I got it back, I noticed leaks from the transmission, and after taking it back to get the leaks fixed, I got a phone call from Jason one day. The transmission had exploded on the test drive after they tried to fix the leak. When it exploded, it took out some major engine parts, which ultimately necessitated a complete engine and transmission replacement of my beloved vehicle. Jason dicked around with the car for another *14*, yes, FOURTEEN MONTHS, taking full advantage of my patience as a customer and my gullibility in general. He finally admitted they did not have the expertise to fix my car, and agreed to pay for full repairs being done by another shop. Once again, in my gullibility, when the other shop finished the car and I asked Jason to pay them, he asked me if I could pay them on his behalf and he would pay me back the following week. It’s been well over a year since then and Jason does not return calls or e-​mails any more, and never paid me back the thousands of dollars I paid to repair the damage his shop did to my car.
Be wary, there are plenty of other shops in Austin that will at least stand up and take responsibility if they mess up your car, HK Auto is not one of them. How they still manage to stay in business is a mystery, but I would advise you to keep looking, they’re not the only cheap shop in town and you risk losing thousands of dollars and years of frustration if you have problems with them.

I wrote the review on the Prelude. I have since sold the car. I avoided posting feedback until the vehicle was sold in the fear that you would not honor the warranty. Jason is a smooth talker. Look at the way those words so elegantly flow out of his mouth. Folks, I like appointments. I would call to inform of a vehicle drop off. I would never leave a vehicle for 8 days at a stretch without calling to check in. The suggestion that anyone would do that is silly. I did in fact drop the car off with a full tank of gas. I picked it up empty. They drove over 300 miles on MY gas. To suggest otherwise is a lie. You fought my insurance company on payment of the claim when my car was hit in your parking lot. I did lose my deductible. My transmission shifted like crap, which is why I sold the car. It didnt shift fine. I wouldnt consider myself a picky customer. I just wanted my transmission to shift. Not like new. just shift. Shift into first gear when coming to a stop. A war of words is just what you have now.
You want to make it right, Jason? Give me what I paid for my deductible
when your parts girl hit it with the White Dodge Ram, while the vehicle was parked in YOUR lot, in YOUR posession. Anyone feel free to email me, ill send you the accident information gladly. And how HK Auto will act when somebody smashes your car while in their posession.
HK gave me bad service. And im still upset.

Somehow… the first post I made for this company was taken off of the reviews… So, I’m reposting, because people need to know what really goes on here.
My best friend referred me to this auto shop because a coworker of hers was the owners neighbor. I left my car for a week while I was out of town to be repaired. The repairs on my car weren’t done until the day I returned home, and the car wasn’t even checked after the repairs were completed!
I had left my car with a half tank of gas and when I got it back it was on empty and had a whole new problem with it where it was shuddering like it was threatening to stall out. The next day I found a Starbucks receipt dated during the time I was out of town, and a bag from Charming Charlie’s left in my car! When I called to complain, Jason, THE OWNER admitted to driving my car while it was with him! He admitted to picking up his wife and taking her shopping, then driving down south to run an errand and back to the shop. However, I was also informed that my car was seen parked at the owners house while I was gone.
So even though the work may be cheap, do you really want to let the owner use your car for his own private use? Do you really want your insurance premiums to sky rocket if he wrecks your car while in his care? Do you want to be held responsible for traffic tickets? Do you really want to let this immoral and unprofessional business anywhere near your car?
Also, when I made a fuss about this unprofessional behavior, they offered to pay to replace my windshield for me in compensation… Two weeks and 5 phone calls later… I’m still waiting for my windshield to get fixed.

These guys are great. Excellent prices! I got my timing belt changed for less than $ 350 including the water pump (quoted over $ 1000 at other places *cough* LAMB’s *cough*). AND I got concierge service, dropped off at my home while they did the work about 18 miles away. Thanks Guys!
