There was something I saw on Facebook where they made and scraped off the ice cream of a cold surface and I thought was pretty cool! I visited my friend from UT and we decided to come here since she told me about it! We got here around 2 hours before closing and like 3 people where in front of us. We waited for awhile since there was only one guy making the ice cream but no biggie, we weren’t in a rush, it’s a small business I don’t expect him to hustle and bustle to get my order put in. It was pretty cool watching him make the ice cream. Then it got down to us and he said he’s running out of milk for the ice cream and he only had enough milk for one and we were okay with that! One ice cream roll is so huge we were going to share one anyways so it worked out perfectly. We ended up splitting it into two cups and each cup was pretty filled! The other people in line were just there for the snow cones, which was pretty huge too! Overall, I would definitely go back to try more flavors!

Before I heard about this place on Unilocal from Nina H, I was literally watching youtube videos with my husband of people making ice cream just like this in Thailand 2 days before. You can imagine my surprise when I saw Nina’s picture of the folded ice cream. I was immediately intrigued and knew I needed to try this place out as soon as possible! I went with my friend Thao E, as she is always up for good food and dessert. On the menu they have a few concoctions to choose from or you can create your own. I decided to create my own and went with the vanilla ice cream, for my mix-ins I chose brownie and oreo and for my topping I chose whipped cream. Thao decided to do one of the selections from the menu — the Caramel Apple. The trailer has big windows which adds to the experience so you can watch while he makes your ice cream. It was so cool and impressive! In no time at all my ice cream was up and ready to go. For the price it is actually a lot of ice cream! My creation was soooo good and exactly what I wanted! He has pretty much any mix-in you can probably think of available, so you can really get creative if you would like. This place is awesome! I love the concept and the ice cream. They are also the only ones in Austin doing this sort of thing too! I am absolutely a fan! I will be back for sure! FYI the trailer is located in the parking lot of the shell gas station on South Congress — just a tad south from the soco strip.

For only 5.50 I got the banana split. So good and cheap for so much ice cream. He mixes in fresh fruit with ice cream. The process is entertaining to watch and the result is delicious. Can’t believe I just found this place!

Very very cool concept — inspired by ice cream stands from Thailand! You choose a base flavor, some toppings to mix in, and then more toppings. It’s a huge portion for ~$ 4! I would recommend sharing with a friend. I thought the ice cream was just OK, the flavor seemed a bit off to me. It’s definitely worth checking out and seeing it for yourself!

Know that feeling you get when Anglos start messing with Bánh mì, or want to do your Shellac? Well, think Anglos reinventing Snow Monster, and actually doing it cool. With Amy’s crushin’s and a little show biz thrown in. Is this a great country or what? And the other reviews explain how it works quite nicely. Yes, you get tubes instead of ribbons, you’re at a trailer instead of a brick & mortar, but what the heck — it’s good stuff & you get a whole lot of it for $ 4.50. Just leave a $ 5 bill. Oops, should I have left more? They do snow cones too, probably for the same reasons steakhouses offer seafood. I was fascinated by their faux anti-griddle machine, and remember the Jess & Les show is only open from 11am-9pm on Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays. The parking at this Shell station may be limited, don’t come here all pressed for time, and we’ll both wonder what the heck clever people will come up with next.

This is one of my favorite ice cream places in Austin! It’s a food truck next to a 7 – 11 gas station(lol) located on South Congress. The gentleman who helped us(I’m guessing the owner) was really polite and patient as he answered all of our questions. I got the vanilla flavored ice cream with strawberries and Reese’s as mix ins, whipped cream and gummy bears as toppings. Since the ice cream is freshly made to order it took a few minutes to prepare it but that was totally okay because there is s clear glass window and I was able to watch the process of my ice cream bring made. When he finished it and handed it to me I was surprised at the huge portion size(only $ 4.50) of the rolls of ice cream. It was delicious, creamy and very satisfying in the Texas heat. They also have other options such as snow cones, etc.

Hand made ice cream! Wow. it is delicious. I almost came back the next day but I didn’t want my daughter to be on a sugar high so close to bedtime. I had one of their specials instead of a custom one. I got the Caramel Apple. I saw the man pour this green green creamy liquid on his … ice workstation and magic happened. It was wonderful. I think the ice creams are all 4.50. The sno cones, I didn’t notice b/c sno cones are common now! haha :) Just kidding, I was too into the ice scraping. I’ve seen a video of someone making this handmade ice cream before. I am SOGLAD we have something like that here in the ATX! Come try it out, you will not be disappointed.

I think this place is better than marble slab, good price for a good amount. The icecream doesn’t melt too fast. They scrape the icecream and the filling really well. I had vanilla with banana and coconut filling with nuts and magic dust toppings. I could really taste the banana and coconut throughout the icecream. It’s a good food truck. At first it looks like just an ice/slushing truck but I really suggest trying the custom icecream! My friend had the banana split and it tasted great as well. Pretty entertaining to watch them make your product as well. The people were friendly and helpful.

This is not fast food ice cream, this is made to order and takes a bit of time. The presentation is to die for and the price point is very fair for the large amount of ice cream you get. It is a one person operation, so if there’s a line, you will have to wait a few minutes. You choose a base, chocolate or vanilla, two mix ins, and two toppings for one price, $ 4.50. I chose vanilla, strawberry and brownie mixing, and whipped cream and chocolate syrup. It was good, but I didn’t love the brownie texture as it stuck to my teeth. The combos are numerous, so it’ll be fun to return and try another. Good for my waistline that this place is a little drive from both home and work. The scraped ice effect is pretty cool, although at the end of the day, it doesn’t taste that different than regular ice cream(not as novel as say Sno Monster). But for fans of ice cream, it is a must try. Word for the wise, their plastic spoons are too pliable for the firm ice cream, maybe byospoon.

Great concept and wonderful ice cream. The guys were super friendly and helped me figure everything out. Watching the process is really fun and something that would be great to bring the family to. The ice cream was very good but the base flavor could have used a little more punch — more vanilla-y. Overall great experience, but watch out trying to eat it in the car afterwards with those plastic spoons hahaha.

Wow. This is probably the smoothest, creamiest I’ve cream I’ve ever had. They make it on a minus-10-degrees«anti-griddle» and it freezes instantly, then they scrape it into«flutes” – very unusual. I’ve never had anything quite like it. Wonderful texture. Apparently it originated in Thailand, where it is called rolled, or ‘fried’ ice cream – because it is made on an anti-griddle(not actually fried). This place in Austin is one of the first few places in the US where you can get this. There are hour-long lines for it in NYC. I’ve only tried the carrot cake specialty flavor so far. Great flavor – highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back.

Ordering is very easy and the worker was extremely helpful during the process. He even offered some suggestions of what would go good together. It was cool to see your ice cream being made in front of you! I was afraid the ice cream would be too sweet but when I tried it, it wasn’t overbearing which was perfect for me! The portion is very large compared to what you get from other ice cream shops. I think it is definitely worth the price($ 4.50) I loved it and would definitely come back again.

Thai inspired rolled ice cream! Delicious and enjoyable to watch. For the price of $ 4.50 you can pick a base(vanilla or chocolate), two mix-ins, and another two toppings! My first time here I got vanilla with Oreos and Reece’s peanut butter cups crushed in with nuts and gummy bears on top! I might try it with just one mix-in next time to keep it simple. Oh and if you get vanilla with strawberry mix-ins it comes out like strawberry ice cream :) The serving size is also pretty generous. Maybe because they’re in rolls so it takes up more room? I’d say it’s a good size to share(even though I finished one on my own HA). They also serve snowballs and they’re located in the parking lot of a Shell gas station.

Nice treat — delicious and very cool to watch how it’s made. The end result is unlike any ice cream you’ve ever eaten since it is in rolls like a crêpe. You start with a base of either chocolate or vanilla and then there is a list of about 15 – 20 things that you can crush in and you can choose 2… then choose 2 other things for the top. I got chocolate with strawberries and coconut with whipped cream and nuts on top. The guy also added a little chocolate sauce and a frozen cherry on top. The location — in the parking lot of the Shell Station on South Congress(just north of Live Oak) is kind of weird so I’m sure they don’t get a lot of foot traffic but it’s worth making it a destination for a special treat. Kids would love it. Snowcones available too.

The first ice cream food truck in Texas with this Thai inspired concept of rolled ice cream! The ice cream is made to order(like Coldstone) by starting with a liquid base and scraping the ice cream off a metal(?) surface into your cup(not like Coldstone or any other ice cream shop!) How: they pour your choice of vanilla or chocolate cream base on a frozen surface, add your mix-ins, spread it thin allowing it to freeze, and scrape rolls of ice cream strips that they neatly place into a cup. For $ 4.50, you’ll get a heaping, generous portion of rolled ice cream. 1. Choose ice cream base: vanilla or chocolate 2. Choose 2 add-ins: strawberry, brownie, banana, watermelon, Reese’s, etc.(photo) 3. Choose 2 toppings: whipped cream, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, etc.(photo) I ordered the vanilla ice cream, strawberries, brownies, whipped cream and caramel sauce. I barely had lunch. Don’t judge. This was the perfect combo! The brownies are pretty rich so if I ever go back, I’ll probably go with Oreos instead. My sister got strawberries and watermelon as mix-ins, which was surprisingly good and refreshing! The process takes about 5−10min, but it’s entertaining concept and definitely a fun experience! They also offer sno cones«snowballs» but all I wanted was the ice cream. My friends did enjoy the snowballs without leaving a single bite behind. The food truck is located in the same lot as a Shell gas station. There were some friendly bees that like to keep you company but just don’t bother them and you’ll be fine. :) Service is also great! The lady at the register was very sweet and her brother, husband and grandson were pros making the ice cream! There’s no other place like this in Texas(yet) so check it out while it’s hot and new!

I saw this new food trailer opened very recently on Twitter and wanted to give them a try. Everything about it was great! They make crepes style Ice cream to order and it’s delicious! I’ve not seen anything like this. He pours the cream and the ingredients on the block and it freezes as he mixes it all together. He then flattens it out, slices it and rolls slices up into crepes style ice cream. It was delicious, fresh and fun to watch! The owner was super nice and happy to offer suggestions and talk about his business. I will go back… too often, I’m sure!

Another Unilocaler recommended this place, so I went ahead and checked it out! Their ice scrapers are delicious! You can pick a vanilla or chocolate base, then load it up with things mixed in, and then add toppings — all for a flat fee! I need to come back and try their snow cones. Since it is Texas and it’s the peak of summer, just keep that in mind! It’s a food truck, so there’s not a lot of shade, and all your orders are made to order(which is great!). You just might work up a sweat while waiting!
