Had a hard drive fail on me, of course after a few months of not backing up (I usually back up everything). After panicking, I called IT Data Recovery and a few other places. Talked to Tom, he was very professional, calm, and very helpful. I wasn’t thrilled about having to drop what could be hundreds, if not a thousand dollars on a drive recovery, but I had to have the files (all irreplaceable work files), and what IT Data Recovery was asking for was fair. Filled out the form, called them, spoke to Tom again, he took time to answer my questions, didn’t rush me, was polite and super patient, and made sure I had all the info I needed. Dropped off the drive the same day. Got a call the next day with good news. Picked it up the day after. The entire experience was as painless as it could have been.

It’s hard to imagine how one could give a 5-​star review for a data recovery operation. What a stressful ordeal — losing one’s data! It’s even worse when it’s your small business data which was stored in a RAID array and had a backup copy on a separate drive to boot. This was not my finest hour.
However, Tom and his team came to my rescue by saving all of my data and providing it back to me exactly as it was. Furthermore, it was not terribly expensive (not compared to the competition anyway). I have always been a believer in local small businesses, and I admit I was briefly tempted to send off our server to a lab somewhere. However, I am so glad that I did not! This is a trustworthy company that will be excruciatingly careful with your data, and they will set your expectations properly up front. Plus, they will bend over backwards to help out and move things forward as best they can. In short, you can trust these folks.
They are really busy (or were when I called them). So you might just ask when they would be able to get to it. I am guessing all these great reviews have led to a thriving business… and deservedly so.

Thomas was very professional and always available to answer any questions. He repaired my dead as a doornail hard drive for less than I expected. I haven’t had time to reinstall on new computer, but he said 99.9 recovery which is fantastic. He’s the best in town… heard this from many other competitors that they can’t compete with his technology.

My external hard drive crashed, with my life on it 8 days before my scheduled backup, late on a Sunday night. I found them on Unilocal,went to the site, filled out the form, and the guy emailed me back, LATE on a Sunday night, within 7 minutes!!! I had already begun chugging tequila to contain the panic and he was just top notch. Seriously, I like my world tip top and I’m willing to pay for it (this is a way of saying I expect quality, diligence, and communication, and yes, I’m willing to pay for it) and they could not have been better. I’ve only ever wanted to give 6 stars once before and I would to these guys if I could. They could have charged me 10 times the price but they were honest and OMG I owe you guys. I got EVERYTHING back. Whomever wrote the poor review is either lying, nuts, or lying, or nuts… or nuts. USE THIS COMPANY!

Prior to calling IT Data Recovery I had a prior quote for a recovery of my 1 TB raid 5 disk array network attached storage device from a different device in Austin. After just talking to Tom, I was convinced he was more professional, more qualified and more informed on the remedies.
I brought the drives to him and he got back to me quickly that it was ready and they had done two different recoveries and I would be able to compare the results. Both were exactly the same and on top of that the total cost was less than half the cost of my original estimate. They saved me over $ 2000!
I’ll use these guys again in a heartbeat if I ever have a drive failure, without a question!

I pretty much had multiple panic attacks when my external drive quit working. It would power up but none of the computers in the house would recognize it. So, thinking it was something simple like a bad USB cord — I took it up north to Frys. They took it off my hands and said they had to run a diagnostic and get back to me. That evening they said their computers could recognize it but couldn’t see data. Okay. Progress.
Then five days went by with no update but since it was such a huge drive I didn’t panic too, too much. Then I called them for an update and found out they didn’t retrieve anything and now the drive was making noises (according to them). Panic kicks in.
Just to give you an idea — this drive had almost a 18months — 2yrs of work and photos of my kid on it … I needed it all back.
So, after some phone calls I was referred to Tom at IT Data Recovery. I gave him a call and he immediately told me to retrieve my drive and drop it off on Monday. I did all of that and by Thursday I got a phone call letting me know he was 95% certain he could get everything off the drive. By Friday it was a done deal and by the following Monday I had a new drive in hand with all my data.
Tom is completely professional and upfront about the risks, costs, everything. I am SUPER happy with the result and will refer IT Data Recovery to all my friends and colleagues who have issues with their drives.
My only complaint was that I didn’t meet him in person to give him a giant hug for giving me everything back on that drive that was so precious to me.

I don’t know where to begin. One day, my external hard-​drive with very important files started to fail. I didn’t know what to do, I was freaking out and all over the place. I recently was referred to IT Data Recovery when two other providers were unable to recover data off a corrupted hard drive. The data included 6 years of pictues-​dating back to the birth of my kids. Tom and his staff were extremely responsive, patient and efficient. The price was fair and, while they were careful not guarantee success (if they were not successful in the recovery they would not charge me), they were able to get everything off the hard drive and onto another.
I highly recommend them. Great customer service and great results.

Wow. Business must be good. I just talked to Tom, who turned my words around, said I kept changing the story when indeed he was not listening to what I said but was filling in blanks that didn’t exist, and within minutes the free evaluation they boast about became a $ 100 charge. Okay. I was fine with that because he said the evaluation would essentially be an initial recovery attempt. i.e. my issue sounded like an easy fix, but after the initial charge the total would be a minimum of $ 400. Wait a second: At the beginning of the conversation he had just told me the minimum was $ 300 and now it is $ 400? This is when he realized his error and that I knew he was going to overcharge me. I actually was still fine with the $ 400 since I already knew that was about the going rate. But suddenly, he said he «wanted to back out». His exact words. «I want to back out.»
I’ve been in business since 1991, and I have never had a more upsetting or disrespectful conversation with a potential service provider. Right before I called, I had just come out of a successful negotiation at my office so I was feeling great and was really on. But this one phone conversation with him left my mouth dry and me feeling confused and very disturbed. I hope he was just having a bad day and doesn’t treat everyone who doesn’t appear to be a big wig with such disdain. (I hadn’t identified myself as a business owner, though I thought he could have told that from caller ID.)

Fast, fast, and top quality data recovery. Tom and crew are fantastic. The prices were fair and the service was tops. I couldn’t have asked for a better end to a hard drive disaster. I came to IT Data Recovery after pricing out Flashback. I didn’t like the price and the timeline at Flashback.
Tom was extremely helpful and answered his phone after hours. He understood how important getting my data back was to me. I picked up my data after hours from his office, which he was kind of to meet me. Everything was recovered exactly the way I left it before my hard drive failure.

and failed to have a good backup system in place for a hard drive crash. Well it finally happened. I looked online for a local data recovery company. All I was finding were companies out of the area that I was going to have to ship my drive to and I was not comfortable do this. Thank goodness I found Tom at

It was great to talk to someone on the phone I could understand. I was able to drop my drive off for an evaluation of the damage and a quote for the recovery cost. It did take a few months for the recovery, but they were able to recover all of my data and I was charged exactly what they said it would cost. I have everything backed up to three different places now :)

These guys are the best. They are the only local shop that does their own clean room in Austin, so you don’t have to pay the middle man for shipping it out to some other clean room outside of town. The prices were the cheapest I could find, and I got basically 100% of my data back.

Two year old IMAC. Hard drive completely fried. Nothing backed up. Contained my son’s first two years of memories in video and photo. Needless to say, they were priceless images for my wife and me. I called Tom in a very desperate moment (probably blabbering and not speaking very clearly in my distraught state), and he calmly listened to my drawn out version of how everything had transpired (despite the fact that it was a Saturday and IT Data Services was closed) and then explained in extraneous detail all of my options. Because of numerous complications and frustrations with Apple Customer Service, I had to call Tom back multiple times before I decided to use their services. Each and every time he was considerate and listened to my problem/​issue/​concern without revealing any signs impatience. Due to the fact that I live up at Fort Hood, Tom offered to pick up the drive from Compuzone where the warranty work was being done on the computer. In a matter of days, IT Data Services completely recovered 100% of the information on my hard drive for a very reasonable price. They saved it to an external and sent it to me 2-​day FedEx to let me look through the drive and make sure everything looked satisfactory. Once I confirmed that it was a complete recovery, they dropped the hard drive back off at Compuzone. Let me also mention that although Compuzone is only a couple of blocks from IT Data Services, many stores would have charged me for the convenience of the pick up/​drop off. IT Data Services, on the other hand, offered to take care of it before I even had to ask. Overall, the technical competence of the staff at IT Data Services is without question as you can read in the other reviews. That is to be expected from a company in this niche market. It is really the attention to the client that sets this company apart from so many businesses these days. These guys appreciate the value of satisfied customers and will do everything in their power to make one of you.

We had a 8 drive RAID 10 with VMWare ESXi running a couple of production VM’s fail. I contacted Tom and he was able to fully recover both VM’s (~600GB vmdk’s) in a short period of time.
I’ve recommended him to a few friends and clients and heard nothing but praise.

I work at Camp Mabry, with the National Guard. An employee at my organization had some problems with her hard drive. Because I am the «tech guy,» I was asked to recover the information using available tools. Unfortunately, even using fancy software to clone the drive, I was unable to do so.
To our rescue came Tom and his techs at IT Data Recovery.
After initial expectation management from Tom over the phone, I sent my coworker with the affected hard drive and a blank hard drive to recover the data to the Frost Tower location. After two days, Tom was able to recover 99% of the data on the disk, and 100% of the data that we needed. On top of that, he was flexible with the payment, and very professional.
