Jiffy Lube

I’ve been in here a few times before and it was ok. Today I came in and noticed that when the boss isn’t here their customer service goes out the roof. I pulled up, came in and waited until I started noticing that these jerks started taking their friends cars before mine. Whenever the boss was here these guys work, but as soon as he’s gone Luis slacks off and the rest of them get really sluggish. Never coming back.

If I could give zero stars I would. This place has been unable to do an inspection for the last month and they always have a difference excuse. In the beginning the machine was broken, they were booked solid, the tech was unavailable, and finally they admitted that they don’t have a guy for inspections anymore. I thought this was the only place to get an inspection on Sunday, now I’m glad to know better.

I needed to get my inspection done and was immediately told that I’d would have about a 30 to 45 minute wait. «45 minutes MAXIMUM» he said. I got off work early and was already there so I figured, sure why not. I gave them my keys at 3:50pm and my car wasn’t finished until after 5:00. At 4:53 I asked why my car was taking so long and they told me that the manager is actually working on my car now and that the «inspection guy went to lunch and there were 3 cars ahead of me when I got there». Of course I asked to speak with a manager so he had me wait yet another 13 minutes after my car was done before making me step outside (away from customers) to finally speak with him. He then told me that there «was an incident with the vehicle before me that prolonged the wait for my service» they said they wouldn’t take care of the charge because it was state mandated. They basically gave me the run around and wasted my time while not even keeping their story straight. DON’T come here unless you have time to waste!!!
Never coming back.

Well I came here once, late in the day for an inspection and they took me and knocked it out in about 15 minutes. I was impressed. For oil changes i usually hit the Jiffy Lube on S. Lamar, which is consistently good and quick, but i needed an inspection on my other car so i figured I’d do both quickly this morning.
That was a bad assumption on my part.
First they said they don’t do inspections before 11 a.m. Oh well. No big deal.
Although it’s kind of funny since most of the Jiffy Lubes tell you they don’t do oil changes after 4 p.m., so it makes you wonder why they have such a short shift for that task, and why it apparently takes a trained rocket scientist to be able to determine if your headlights are working and if your windshield wiper blades are halfway decent.
Anyway, I digress. So I request an oil change. Looks like there’s about 3 cars ahead of me and at least four people working, so I figure it’s about 15 or 20 minutes. Granted, they did not give me a time estimate. But after about 30 minutes, even though when I pulled in I told them I only wanted a basic oil change, they called me and proceeded to go down there a laundry list of everything they wanted to upsell me on. I actually stopped the guy halfway through and reiterated I was in a hurry and only wanted to basic oil change and didn’t want to waste his time or mine. From that point forward, it was about another 15 minutes.
Oh, and unless the one on Lamar has recently upped their price, this one is a little more expensive too.
All in all, it took a lot longer than it does at the normal Jiffy Lube I go to on Lamar. And even though my initial experience with the inspection was good, I’m not likely to return here.

****Being burned by Covert Cadillac (see review) made me rush and I did not read all the reviews or notice the obvious bot 5 star reviews about this particular place. Shame on me for that, but time was not on my side this morning. I will go to mom and pops from here on out.
15 minutes is what I was told but it took 35 minutes. I got an oil change and my tires rotated. Upon looking at the checklist, I noticed that the vacuum part was checked but my car was not. What is up with that? Small things…
It was not busy, so that helped the time thing. It would have been nice to have more people in the bay when more customers showed up. I noticed this one guy kept going out of the main office a couple of times. Once to get his breakfast sandwich. Perhaps time would not be such an argument if everybody did what they were supposed to do.
Friendliness is not a part of these folks day to day agenda, so that usually makes me not want to come back and experience it again. I will go to the one up north, where it seems they actually like having a job.
The money that I spent and the amount of time it took, you could have at least done what you said you did.

They quoted me 20 – 25 minutes for my car. 45 minutes later for a basic oil change, it still isn’t done. One of the employees asked the manager twice to help him and the manager sat in the back and didn’t help him. I’m used to jiffy lubes being extraordinarily fast, correct when they quote a time, and usually have excellent customer service. This location did not. I witnessed poor communication with the manager not helping his staff and an extra long wait when they didn’t fulfill the time they promised my car to be done.
Luis was awesome. He was the only
One who acknowledged me and apologized. Great customer service from him for such a horrible experience. He deserves some recognition.

Awful experience. First the employee told me that they didn’t do inspections and after some back and forth he agreed to inspect my vehicle. He then told me that I would need new windshield wipers to pass inspection, so I agreed to that but would later figure out that he never changed them. During checkout a different employee would charge me the wrong amount which I wasn’t aware of until the manager called me the following day and cleared everything up. Unorganized paired with rude incompetent employees makes for an awful branch of the jiffy lube chain.

Fast, friendly service. No wait, pulled right in on my way home from work at 5pm on a Wednesday. Was in and out in 10 minutes. They were very prompt and courteous which is exactly what I was looking for.

This jiffy lube is on point! I went on a Sunday afternoon for a car inspection. It was done and taken care in a timely and professional manner. Eric was the technician that did my inspection and he was courteous, friendly and competent. I recommend this place highly! I will definitely be back.

Awesome service and great people! Orlando made sure I was taken care of and Gee did an awesome job on my brakes. They also let me know about my car malfunctions and where to get it fixed. I will be returning for my oil change :)

I waited THREE hours to have the belts in my car changed, after both calling ahead and letting the employees know the prior day during an oil change that I would be back to have my belts replaced. Not once did anyone check in with me to let me know the wait time, nor did they apologize for the inordinate amount of time I was forced to wait. It’s a poorly organized place with horrible customer service that is vastly understaffed.

**FINAL UPDATE**
The director of this areas jiffy lube’s was able to locate my transaction and as a token of good business, making bad situations better, refunded the full amount of the service from this incident. Much appreciated, thank you.

Let’s not forget: This is an automotive service shop. They upsell everything. I used to live in a house with a drive way and it was very convenient to change my own oil when ever I needed to. Total cost averaged $ 25; and that was for some of the best oil I could find. It was laborious, but I saved money and loved it. Now I live in an apartment and changing my own oil is not an option. I don’t think the apartment staff would appreciate me dripping oil in their lot. As a consequence I have to take my car to a service shop, and this Jiffy Lube is right down the street from me. I dread going every time though, because I know I need things done with my car, but I hate getting lectured about how my car will blow up if I don’t get ever recommended service done. I am not made of money Jiffy Lube!!! Nevertheless, a simple «I don’t have the money right now,» excuse usually gets them off my back. I always try to escape with spending as little money as possible. Best thing to remember is not to let them throw you off with their production. They always bring me out to the shop where they usually have a part of my car sitting on a table, dirty as hell, and make me look at a computer with red and yellow graphs, in an attempt to scare me into buying everything that is «recommended.» It makes me cringe because I feel like a dentist is lecturing me to floss, but I usually just tune them out, weigh my options, and tell them i’ll do it next time. They can’t make me do it; only strongly suggest it. Bottom line for this place, and probably most places like it: just be firm on what you want, and don’t let them scare you into buying things you are certain you don’t need. The internet is a powerful tool and it can help ease most concerns they will try to put in your head.

First of all, the location of this Jiffy Lube on Google Maps is INCORRECT. It’s not 5510 S I H 35. It’s actually on E Stassney Ln.
Here we go… I came here for a simple oil change and tire rotation which I was told would take 30 min. That made me laugh. It took over an hour which I anticipated, so this didn’t throw me off too much.
They pulled my car out when it was complete and left it running, which is fine. But here’s where it gets… just weird.
Quick explanation of an intelligent key if you don’t know how it works… My car uses an intelligent key, which means I don’t have to put a key into the ignition to start my car. I just push a button. This button, however, requires a sensor to be present and inside the car order to start the car.
So my car is running, and I assume that they had put the intelligent key in the center console for me. For this, I gave them too much credit. My intelligent key was nowhere inside car. When I asked the employees what happened with my key, they each put the blame on another employee and it went around in circles like that until I decided they were all completely useless to me. They had «lost» my key.
HOW DO YOU LOSE A CUSTOMERS’ CAR KEYS?! What makes it even worse is that it was an intelligent key, which can cost around $ 200 to replace.
So in the end, a $ 20 oil change turned into a $ 300 «oil change.» Thanks Jiffy Lube! I’ll be sending you my bill on Monday.

Customer service has always been great here. Never had a problem. Sure they like to upgrade you to the Synthetic Blend oil, but we’ve made so many advances in car engines & oil that the hybrid really is worth it in your car over the long run. Conventional breaks down faster & burns easier.
Most of the extra services they offer aren’t necessarily because they are trying to rip you off. It’s because most people don’t replace the wiper blades, air filters, etc in their cars. They offer to do it for you, at a premium price because it cost a lot for them to carry all that non-​oil related stuff in the store. It’s really a convenience charge for people who don’t know how to do it or won’t go to the dealer, where you will also get ripped off. If you want to spend less just go to the auto parts store when they are slow, ask the person what product to buy and how to install it. Chances are they will walk out to the parking lot and show you how.
The guys have always been great. It is what it is, a great oil change shop that offers additional convenience services. Just say no if you don’t want them.

I have been a customer of Jiffy Lube for over 10 years now. Out of all the locations this one is by far the best. They have awesome customer service here. You will never get that «what do you want» vibe. They always greet you and walk you into the lobby. Who likes taking time out if their day to get maintenance done on their vehicle? It’s just one of those things you have to do. This location is so comfortable that you won’t mind waiting on your vehicle. I will not go to any other Jiffy Lube again!

The people who work here are shitheads. They said my car needed some extra amount of oil and charged me for that. That resulted in oil level being ½ inch higher than the maximum shown on a dipstick. I accidentally noticed that more than a month later. Now this means the engine is taking damage. Going back to beat crap out of them.

I have a vagina, not a mental disability. Apparently here, they can’t tell the two apart. They seriously were going to sell me ALL that I had done last time. Things that you only need ever 20k miles. Ummm, probably haven’t even gone 2k miles. I have GREAT peripheral vision and saw the condescending smirk, FUCK-​FACE!!!
I was going to get a couple of things done here, but was so enraged I got the basic of the basic of the basic. It’s amazing how when he knew I knew he was trying to fuck me he suddenly got VERY respectful.
Unless you have a penis, I wouldn’t go here unless you feel like setting a scam-​artist chauvinist straight. (that part was a bit fun)

You said it in your review… maybe they were taking you for a ride because you were a woman… and I think that is completely true. I went in one day after having gotten horrible news… I was in tears and my car desperately needed an oil change. I had a male friend with me who knows NOTHING about cars and that became apparent to the people working on my car after the first question.
They post signs everywhere about their special $ 28 oil change. I had coupons at home for cheaper deals but since this place was close to home, I figured why not… These people tried to take me for a ride. My newer car that had been recently purchased and had had a full eval and everything else was given a poor condition from Jiffy Lube. They wanted to change everything from my windshield wipers (new I had JUST replaced like 2 weeks ago) to my air filter…
They didnt flinch when they told me that my car MUST have the most expensive oil they had ($ 90 oil change) and for an extra $ 25 I could get the headlight holders cleaned on the inside. I had had enough. I insisted they give me a decent oil change and be done with it. My guy friend just stood there, not knowing about cars and was asking questions… when those guys sensed he didnt know what was up, they tried to take me.
Its such BS that companies like this pray on women and think we are ignorant. I left this place with a $ 50 plus oil change, All I wanted was a simple oil change and feel like I got screwed. I went to my regular mechanic (CARTER’s TRANSMISSION on S Lamar) and they charged me $ 31 bucks… I will never return to Jiffy Lube… I am saddened by this practice of string sales and although I know you need to try and upgrade me… you dont have to lie to me and tell me this is something I MUST have…
