Highly impressed, they offer a unique menu with lots to choose from. Just about everything you get here is to die for! I would love to eat here everyday if I could! 5 stars isn’t enough to rate them!

Loved my first experience here! I came here with a visiting friend to get some queso with dinner, and it did not disappoint. We both fell in love with the Kerbey Queso — it had just right amount of thickness to it and mixed wonderfully with the guac. It was also served with salsa, and eating the chips with both the queso and salsa together was magic. We both have been dreaming about the queso ever since. As for choosing from their other food options, we were both a bit overwhelmed because the menu is massive and so many things sound utterly delicious! Breakfast all day was a plus. We both ended up choosing dishes from their seasonal menu. The friend ordered the chicken & pancakes, but was able to substitute her cinnamon beignet pancakes for lemon-poppyseed pancakes. I got the crab mac & cheese, which was great because it wasn’t too cheesy and there were definitely substantial pieces of crab in it. Everything was great, but way too much for either of us to finish! Never opposed to leftovers though. In addition to the food, we loved the bright colors of the building, quaint décor, and exceptionally friendly service — our waitress just had the best attitude and was so welcoming. There is parking in back, but I didn’t notice and had no problems parking along the street. I’ll definitely be back!

I am in a quandary as to what to write. This has always been a main stay for me in Austin. Now that I’ve moved, I don’t get to frequent as often. After we were seated, it was about 7 – 10 min for someone to bring our drink order. I tried to place my order then but it was drinks only. We were allowed to order queso as an app. The queso beat the waters out. Then we got to order. My mom ordered a burger and I got a Nabil’s salad. It took 40 minutes from the meal order for it to arrive. My mom said her burgers and fries were absolutely tasteless.(Well she did say the ketchup was good.) My salad was mediocre as the lettuces weren’t crisp and even the chick peas were dried out. There used to be half an avocado, now it’s a fourth. This place just doesn’t hold to the standards it did before. Glad we got the queso! Most of our meal was comped, but we didn’t walk away ready to return! :(

Fantastic food! Get there early and you will not be disappointed. Everything is great. I especially love the chilaquillas, which you can stack up against any restaurant in Mexico.

I came here due to many recommendations by friends. It was not as good as everyone said. I found Kerbey Lane to be average. We walked in on a Tuesday night and there was a good crowd. We were quickly seated and the waiter came to get drinks. He also told me some of their popular menu items, which are basically the ones in green on the menu. We weren’t ready to order yet and he came back with enough time for us to decide, but not too long. The service was a plus. I ordered the French toast platter with extra cinnamon with over medium eggs and fruit. I am a sucker for Texas Toast, so that’s how i decided. The food arrived hot. Pros of the meal: The eggs were cooked over medium just like I asked Cons of the meal: I would not order fruit here again. The cantaloupe tasted sour and the strawberries were going bad, i.e. dark red and too sweet. The only good fruit was the grapes. I expected the french toast with Texas Toast to be crisp. It was soggy. Kerbey Lane is a popular joint with a homey atmosphere but still average breakfast food.

The Good Seed veggie burger is not good. Too crumbly. I think Kerby needs to work on this.

We haven’t been to this location is quite a while. I have to say that it was the best Kirby Lane experience that I have had to date. The Migas with Rancharo sauce was delightfully delicious. I will definitely be back.

Great food, great service! About half an hour wait Saturday around noon. Recommend the fried chicken Benedict. Crispy and tender, egg cooked to perfection with the yolk glazing down the side. I inhaled that food like that pink Kirby guy from that one game boy video game.

I love the food here at Kerbey Lane! Really good quality and portion. Always make accommodations and help you have a great meal in the cooking department. But the wait staff is really lacking. I know I wasn’t the only one feeling this way last night. at table across from us complained about never getting there chips and quest and another table actually admitted that this was the worst service they had ever gotten. I get that it was late at night and I believe they were having technical difficulties but no matter what the wait staff could have been more attentive. We rarely got drink refills!

Kirby Queso, all day, e’ry day. And the Tomato Pie from the Summer seasonal menu. O jesus, it’s so delicious. Can it please just be summer yet!!! Most of their other menu items are pretty solid, but I always tend to order off the seasonal menus and then pine for my favorites until their glorious return.

EEERRRMMAAHHGAWD. I want to eat here everyday. EVERY. DAY. I had the special that consisted of banana nut bread french toast & migas. I die. It took me a good 10 minutes to choose something from the menu and honestly, Unilocal didn’t help because the reviews are favorable about pretty much anything; there isn’t a bad choice at Kerbey Lane.

Kerbey does a lot of good things in the Austin tradition – local sourcing, seasonal menu items, etc. But I am appalled to find out that for anything other than fried or poached eggs, these establishments use processed egg mixture from a carton, unless you specifically request otherwise when ordering. Like an «Egg Beaters» type carton mix. I am sorry, but for what y’all charge I expect quality. Not only real eggs, but local farm eggs would be more true to the form you represent your establishment with. Extremely disappointed long time(former) customer here.

I like pancakes. I like waffles. And I like them even more with fast service when I am hangry in the morning. Kerbey lane successfully delivers on all these hankerings that hit me come Saturday morning. Indeed, there usually is a wait, but never longer than they predict. And predict they do — with such positivity, which makes me even more excited to eat the oversized pancakes(that can be supplemented with peanut butter and bananas, by the way). And although I’ve only enjoyed breakfast items here, like their delightful French Toast and sausage in addition to their pancakes — I can only imagine their tastiness is a testament to how delicious the rest of the menu is. Plus, any spot that serves grapefruit juice makes me a fan.

My sisters and I came here late one night after visiting 6th street and we were ready to sit down and chow. It was pretty packed and we waited a few moments before getting seated at a table. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He told us about all the popular dishes and must-haves at Kerbey Lane. KERBEYQUESO– guacamole covered with queso and topped with pico de gallo This signature queso is amazing! I love the creaminess of the quacamole and the acidity of the pico de gallo. It’s the perfect dip when you have chips because it’s so savory and saucy. I love just how smooth and crisp the flavors are. EGGSFRANCISCO– english muffin layered with scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, avocado, and queso served with a side of home fries This dish was okay. Nothing special here. It was almost like an egg benedict except the eggs are scrambled and the flavors are pretty simple. The english muffin was chewy and I wanted it to have a slight crisp for a contrast in textures. The home fries were bland and could’ve used more seasoning. SINGLEPUMPKINPANCAKE I really liked the pumpkin flavor. It had a nice seasonal spice to it and it was fluffy and light. The powdered sugar and glaze gave it that extra sweetness. I would order this again. CHIPOTLECHICKENCLUB– mozzarella, bacon, chipotle aioli, grilled chicken breast, and sweet potato fries The chicken was moist and flavorful and I like the crispy bacon. The chipotle aioli was a very nice touch. The flavors were not overwhelming and complemented each other well, but it was just a simple chicken club. The sweet potato fries were chewy and not crispy. You could really taste the sweet potatoes. I haven’t been back since I came here the first time, but I might stop in the next time I’m in town.

Yum times 5! I haven’t been here in years but it tasted just like I remembered it. This time I brought along my grouchy kids who didn’t want to eat here. We started with the amazing Kerbey queso because that is a must! It disappeared quickly. Things we ordered: Son-angus bacon cheeseburger with fries cooked medium. He couldn’t eat all the fries but the burger was gone. Daughter– turkey avocado bacon sandwich with sweet potato fries. She could only eat half but ate too much queso Hubs-angus bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. All gone Me– Kerbey combo which was 2 blueberry pancakes, 2 slices of bacon, fresh fruit, 1 sausage and 2 eggs over medium. Heaven! Heaven! Bites of heaven were those pancakes. I think we all had to be rolled out of the restaurant. Glad we don’t have one in New Braunfels because I would be hitting the gym daily to even things out. Love the local art hanging. We will be purchasing two amazing pieces we fell in love with. We will be back but for now I will dream of pancakes.

I don’t know if I just have amazing timing or I’m super patient or what. We decided to get brunch at Kerbey Lane on a Saturday morning because we are brave. I think we showed up around noonish? 1:00? Somewhere around there, but we only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for two. We got a chance to study the menu while we waited, and I liked that they send a text to your cell phone when your table is ready because we were able to wander around the building and soak up some sun. Our waitress was fantastic. Extremely professional, friendly, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. She assisted us in making our selections because I was so indecisive. I was torn between the Elvis pancake and the apple whole wheat, and ended up getting one of each — no problemo! Honestly, I’m glad I got both because they were equally yummy and I ate every last bite of both pancakes AND my egg white omelet. My friend got the pumpkin pancakes, so I got to sample those as well and they most definitely did not suck. If you’ve got a hankering for pancakes, Kerbey Lane is the place to go! Oh, and just about everybody under the sun says their queso is amazing and I made a huge mistake by not trying it, so… may as well order that too.

Four star is a fairly accurate review. This was probably one of the better breakfast places I have been to in Texas. Even better than the renowned Magnolia’s in San Antonio. All in all the portion size for the meals were right on. Just enough food to satisfy for the prices. The pancakes. Not the best ever but certainly great. I highly recommend trying them. The biscuit was moist and soft with great texture and simple flavors that we all knows makes a great biscuit. The omelette was very light and refreshing. The hashbrown swerve generic and ordinary compared to the rest of the dish. This was a fantastic visit to Kerby Lane Café. I would definitely come back for breakfast but really interested in trying their lunch menu. Only real flaw is the parking is very limited. And the inside of the restaurant could use a little renovating and cleaning… Buts that’s just being very picky.

If I had been allowed to do so, I would have moved into Kerbey Lane Café, like a stowaway on an 18th-century ocean voyage, hiding under tables and venturing forth whenever safe to steal whatever I could. As this did not seem a realistic option, what with my job expecting my return on Monday, I did the next best thing… I came to Kerbey Lane for BOTH days of my two-day Austin trip. Why bother going somewhere else when you have already discovered a place that sells $ 2 mimosas, migas(eggs with many Mexican-y things over tortilla chips), and gluten-free pumpkin French toast? If you answered, «There is absolutely no reason to go anywhere else,» then you are absolutely correct. To begin, the mimosas. These were mimosas in only the loosest sense of the word, as they were really full glasses of champagne with a drop of orange food coloring poured on top. I feel I got my $ 2 worth. Moving onward, the migas. I had never experienced or even heard of migas before Kerbey Lane, but I am confused as to why more places have not yet discovered the brilliance of mixing all the delicious Mexican things with eggs and tortilla chips. Highly recommended. Next, the gluten-free pumpkin French toast. Yum? I can’t really say anything else. Worth ordering. A lot. As I went back the next day, I can also speak to the pork tacos, which were as delicious as everything else. The prices were fantastic, the servers were friendly, and if you can somehow get out of doing your job or area already career-less, I highly recommend considering this as your new place of residence.

This was my favorite restaurant when I was a starving college student for too many years at UT, and it’s still up there in my top 5 for quintessential old Austin fare. They do breakfast, lunch and dinner café style, but with a creative, healthy twist that has become the Austin standard. Kerbey Lane cafes have sprung up all over Austin, and now in Round Rock, but this is the mothership where it all started. And it’s a tiny one, patched together from two old cottages linked together on Kerbey Lane of 35th Street adjacent to the medical center. The tables are crammed together inside and there’s little elbow or walk room in between. Their pancakes are huge and are so popular that they sell the bagged mixes at HEB. That will come in handy when you drive up on a Sunday morning and change your mind because there’s a 2-hour wait for a table. But never fear, they serve breakfast items all day and evening, so you can try them another time if you don’t want to break out the griddle from the back of the cabinet. The lunch and dinner menu is my favorite, however, ranging from Tex-Mex with black bean and avocado tacos, California enchiladas to Nabil’s Mid-East Feast salad and soups made fresh daily, along with a variety of burgers and sandwiches. They have seasonal offerings, including an entire menu featuring dishes made with tomatoes. It’s worth trying the seasonal specials or their daily specials, listed on the chalkboard on the wall. Gluten-free and vegan options are clearly marked on the menus. For drinks, they feature a variety of fresh juices, coffees, teas, and Maine Root sodas. Beer and wine by the glass is $ 3. Parking is scarce, because there’s a tiny lot in back of the house but otherwise you’re hunting on the nearby streets. Prepare to walk and to dodge traffic as necessary. Personally, I don’t stop if there isn’t a spot within a block, because I know the wait will be longer than I want. I usually hit them up on off-peak dining times and don’t have a problem snagging a table.
