Lamme’s Candies has been my favorite chocolate store since I moved here in the 80’s. I have eaten enough chocolate covered strawberries to feed a small country and, according to my dentist, way too many chewy pralines. And, oh, their fantastic caramel pecan turtles! I love the history of Lamme’s dating back to the 1800’s and the lamb logo created by it’s founder. My history buff friend told me they used to sell ice cream years ago and little candies with interesting sayings wrapped inside. Of course, the ice cream is no longer sold but the business continues. The candy is always high quality and delicious. I have purchased boxes to share with friends outside of Texas since it travels so well. Lamme’s does a great job during the holidays with festively wrapped ready-to-go boxes of the pralines and chocolates. I like to keep several around for spontaneous gifts. And, when I «forget» to give that last box away, I give it to myself! All candy is made by the company preservative free and as far as I know, owned by the same family. Northcross Mall still houses a Lamme’s store but I’m almost certain it will go when Walmart arrives.
