M Station

Where do I begin? M station apartment, they are very strict and will be in your face to anything they disagree with you. I travel frequently for work so that means I have to leave my home, and I dont feel safe leaving my belonging unattended because I’ve had someone peel off my window screen and try to break in. I had brought that to thier attention and got shit for it. The staff acted like I was making it up and wasting their time when I put in a work order for it and months later it still has yet to be fixed.
I have friends ive asked to look over my apartment while I’m gone for a week or two and the apartments call me and say that I’m not allowed to do that and they classify it as «unauthorized occupants» and say I’m violating my lease. I’ve explained to them I like to have people check in on my home while I’m not there due to previous window incident and they are not understanding. They said every time I leave town I have to notify the apartments I’ll have people checking in on my home, they call me with attitude threatening to charge me with lease violations and fees.
I’ve never lived anywhere that was not understanding of my belongings safety, I’m actually shocked they care more about that then some other issues I thought would be more of a priority. The price I pay is nice, but doesn’t mean they can treat their tenants like puppets or dogs.
If you like rude landlords, wild children messing up your plants, attempted break in, gunshots in the middle of the night, and your car getting broken into and blown up, m station may be the place for you.

My ex husband and I moved to M Station in February 2012 right after we got married and we were excited to be there. Nice location close to DT, beautiful brand new apartments, green area seemed perfect for a young family. We signed the contract, furnished our new home and than the fairytale ended.
1. The management was nice to us only one single day — the day we were signing the contract. After that they have always been rude, disrespectful and most of the issues have never been addressed.
They also lied about a lot of things. I.e. the complex is right next to the railway tracks and during the day a tiny little metro train is passing by every now and than. You can hear it but it’s not a big deal. When I asked the manager about noise level due to trains he said he barely hears it. Oh well, that was true during the day, but at night same railway is used by giant and long-​ass cargo trains and the noise makes walls in the building shake!
2. The things got real when our car got towed 2 times, because M Station only gives you 1 parking permit for 2 people in 2 bedrooms. The towing company named JJ made the complex their sweet piece of pie and they were towing every night, even from visitor spots, because the management would do nothing against it.
There is never enough parking spots period because of the poor design of the complex — there are more apartments than parking spots and nobody thought of it when building it and sure thing in 3 years management has done nothing to fix it despite 100 0000s of complaints.
So even if you have a permit you will have to park on the other side of the complex, very far away if you are lucky to find a spot.
But don’t think your car is safe there. We had our cars broken into 2 times and guess who takes 0 responsibility for it? Right, the management! Not a single action to address or prevent it!
3. When we were trying to get out of the lease on our 3^rd year — 2 months before it would end after being excellent tenants never causing problems and paying rent on time — because we got divorced and that already was a painful experience, we were told that to end the lease 2 months earlier we will need to pay a fine of 80% of the rent and pay monthly rent for every month before they find new tenants. And 30 days notice is not enough, you have to give a 60 days notice. That was outrageous. The management didn’t even consider working with us on our situation. We ended up just paying for it anyway.
4. The move out process was disgusting. The manager Angie was trying to extort as much money from us as she could. She was not there on our move out day, which we identified clearly 60 days prior to it. Actually getting to see the manager has always been an issue. The office tends to be closed 30 minutes after opening hours and an hour before closing, the manager is constantly on «personal day off», vacation, sick, out of office, lunch, «just not here yet». If you have a full time job you will have to take a day of to find out that Angie has a day off!
The day after move out I had to come back again and the moment I entered the office she was talking shit about me with her co-​worker, calling my last name. I was shocked and introduced myself. She pretended nothing happened and tried to play it cool, so I asked her to not bother with fake friendliness and get to the business. She accused us in smoking in the apartment which never happened and put 300 $ worth of charges on top of the deposit for nothing. She was rude throwing papers on me when I asked her to give me a printer final bill without handwritten corrections on every page so the document became unreadable. When I asked for some sort of contract termination to avoid her sending me more bills and extorting more money from me she said that a handwritten paper is all I get!
I’m not even mentioning that while we lived there every months we used to get a notice about someone’s apartment being broken into, same with cars (including ours), police cars were there every other night, so if I had a kid I would not consider living there.
The bugs issues has always been major. Cockroaches were frequent guests despite our massive investments on traps and one time we saw pest control there clearly getting rid of bad bugs in the apartment right below ours.
I felt so bad leaving a place that I once called home with such a terrible negative experience in the end. I had many great memories from this place and it hurts a lot to leave it like this. The people living there are very nice and I would like to thank them for that. The area is growing and may turn into a great place to live.
But this management will ruin it for you. So beware.

I have to remove several stars. New management has come in and things have just sunk to a level worse than the stagnant water in Louisiana swamps.
I am beginning to truly dislike it here.
First and foremost, the management has gone from a staff of caring, community involved, open door, welcoming, friendly staff with a vested interest and love for the property and community to a woman who seriously could not care less about the property, what goes on, what it looks like or what the residents here are having issues with.
1. I live on the first floor. That means all the thugs and «gang» kids that are now residents here can be heard all hours of the night. They cat call my 18 year old twin girls, to the point where they don’t feel safe walking their dog without their brother or someone else with them and certainly can’t enjoy what was once a really nice courtyard outside our door. The hanging out on the stairwell, the courtyard and walking the area while smoking weed, cursing and yelling loudly either with one another, or on their phones by the random groups of thugs… Yeah, it’s just great.
2. Roaches? Yep. There was an infestation that wasn’t handled from May to October NOT AT ALL. Not after I emailed, went in, residents complained, I complained… nothing. Nada. For MONTHS. They finally sprayed last week. There was a notice on a Tuesday that it would happen on Thursday and we’d need to clear out all cabinets in the home; bathrooms, kitchen, etc. Because people don’t work all day and we all had plenty of time to take off Wednesday to make sure that happened. So courteous.
3. The manager, after I inform her of issues with the drug dealing, the drug use and basic infestation of thug activity does nothing to stop it. Her answer is «well, that’s an issue for the police.» No, woman… that’s a really large lease violation and EVICTION is what that is. When issues like this occur, and we call the police, the police have to actually catch them in the action of the crime in order to enforce anything. Since it takes the police anywhere from 15 — 30 minutes (or longer if they are busy) to arrive, there’s nothing going on anymore. She has no desire to know the community so that, when residents walk in and describe a person, or group of people, she’ll know who that is and address the thug or drug dealing activity.
The apartments used to do all they can to keep the children and teens here busy and productive; there were summer activities through the H.E.R.O.E.S. program, as well as throughout the school year. Now, there’s a small children’s program and I don’t think there was anything this summer. Many kids and teenagers that just aren’t watched by parents still destroy things and litter, making it bad for the kids that really are great kids.
How thug has it gotten? Oh, not only is there the whole «Welcome to M Station! Yes, feel free to smoke weed wherever in front of small children playing. Feel free to sell drugs here. Feel free to make people uncomfortable in their own homes. Feel free to be unclean and infest our residents with roaches. Feel free to just act completely ridiculous, uneducated and uncivilized. There are NO repercussions here, folks!», seems that the other day, someone fired off gunshots into another person’s car. Awesome. YAY!
I really loved living here. I loved that the community was filled with people that WERE nice, that DID care and that the complex itself did things to promote the sense of pride and community here via community meetings and events. That no longer exists; the number of people left that truly care about M Station is about 5. Seriously… ok, maybe 6 or 7.
I enjoy several of my neighbors, but most of the people here that were excited about the great community M Station was have moved due to the place just completely falling apart and the new management just not giving a hoot about what’s going on; she’s getting paid and filling those apartments. *they might be filling them with creeps, thugs and jerks… but hey, money is money and numbers are numbers, right…
I am waiting to hear back from someone over the manager’s head to email them and see what can be done to turn M Station back around. If things change, I’ll certainly change my review.
M Station has the ability to be a really great place full of contributing members to our community and I hope to see it return to a community that will evolve into the amazing place it should be.
