This is real Mexican food in a truly Mexican atmosphere. The food is delicious, the service is perfect, and the hot sauce is HOT! If you are anglo(as we are) be prepared to stand out but it is no problemo. Great place to practice your Spanish. We will be back often

So far, so good. The chips are warm and crispy. The salsa is perfectly spicy. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla with guacamole. It was huge, but very delicious. I crave it, every so often.

Attentive staff. Not busy. Ordered shrimp ceviche tostada as a starter. Was ok. Lacked a good punch. Ordered fish/rice dish for an entrée. Didn’t taste fresh.

Love it or not at all it seems, according to these reviews. I’m in the love it camp. The best price on oysters in Austin, and they’re local TX oysters, and very tasty! The food here is a great value, for seafood, quite cheap, large portions, and filling. The hush puppies are awesome. Down one star from five because the oysters aren’t always available. I would say call ahead and check if you’re coming for the oysters.

Worst mariscos place I’ve ever been to. The soup I ordered was old seafood put to boil then that’s what I was served. No spices no nothing. I actually returned it back which I never do because I always worked at a restaurant.

We decided to try this place after seeing it had just opened on e oltorf. We were really not happy with the food overall. We started off with ceviche. It was plain and lacked any real imagination. The price was kind of high for the serving. I also had the seafood platter. Here is the breakdown on the platter. Crab cake was over cooked and very bready. It lacked any real flavor of any distinction. The sea trout was cooked very well but also lacked flavor along with the shrimp. I would say all of the platter was very well done and it just had no flavor. Although the oysters on the half shell were very good you must remember to request the horseradish and cocktail sauce. The steamed vegitables were perfect and my girlfriend was impressed with the size and freshness of the dinner salad. Our take on the place was that although the prices were not high they were too high for what you get. but if you want a good salad and steamed vegitables this is a place to go. I think they should stay awayfrom the seafood business though.

Absolutely love this place! My family and I have been going for years. I love the shrimp a la Mexicana and the Mexican Martinis. The staff is great and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone.

This place is terrible. The beans were canned refried beans and the rice was dry and flavorless. The shrimp was horrible, it was frozen shrimp that was heated and then placed on nachos. The only perk was that the chips/tortillas were actually made in house, but I can’t figure out why you want to make seafood and then use frozen items. I could make this same meal at home in 5 minutes. If you want a good Mexican Seafood restaurant then go to the(unrelated) Mariscos on Riverside.

We were excited when this restaurant reopened. They had had great food and good, friendly service. We tried going back a couple of nights ago. The wait person had an attitude from the beginning. It took a very long time to get drinks and get our order taken. We never got silverware or napkins. When our food sat on the counter at the back for 10 or 15 minutes, and the wait person made NO attempt to bring them, that was enough. We left and I doubt we’ll ever go back.

I have literally died and gone to heaven! I drove by 2121 Oltorf today, 7÷18÷2013, and what did I find? My most favorite restaurant in Austin has at last re-opened. That’s right. Mariscos Seafood has at last re-opened. I love this place. I had the whole fried catfish dinner with 2 sides. Can’t wait to go back with my son for the oysters on the half-shell.

Figured we’d try it since it was right down the street. BADIDEA. The music was too loud to have a conversation, which I understand might be the way to go at 9, but not at 6 when we just want to eat and maybe have a little chat while we are doing so. Service was okay but the food was overpriced and not good at all. The basic fried stuff was, well, basic fried stuff. But the tilapia in the mojo sauce was pretty gross. Too much garlic, not enough other stuff. And the fish tasted like fish, which isn’t supposed to happen if it’s fresh. We spent the next two days running to the bathroom. When we weren’t pooping, we felt nauseous. Never again.
