Peanut butter and banana sandwich along with some good coffee = great success! Have ventured into some of their egg breakfast sandwiches also, never disappoint!

It’s a cute shop near the UT campus. I got the peanut butter, banana, and chia seed breakfast sandwich with an earl grey tea. It’s a simple sandwich that was well done. I think what I enjoyed about this place was the simplicity and variety of items they had on their menu. The service was good! I went on an off hour, so it wasn’t busy. It was just a quaint breakfast spot that filled me with good food. What more could I want before the end of an Austin trip?

Really great place for breakfast, coffee, and gelato pops! Small restaurant with cute décor and a «Mary» wall. Not great for large groups. Lots of parking since it’s a shared lot with Jimmy Johns and other businesses. Vanilla Latte and chocolate liege waffle were both so delicious! Would definitely return!

Brunch time! Although being walking distance from UT campus, I never knew this place existed until a friend brought us here. Driving or walking by, you can’t miss their sign out front and their interior décor is just as interesting. It’s a small place with booths at the window, several small tables, and a couch. What a place appropriate for Austin! Their menu covers waffles, coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, tacos, and salads. Seriously, all breakfast places should have a sampler dish available! Their waffles looked pretty good so I ordered an Original Leige Waffle with chocolate chips mixed in and topped with bananas and strawberries. Their online menu has a list of different waffles, but you really just make your own. First impression when it came out was that it looks kind of small. Don’t worry, it isn’t. I definitely had to work my way through to the end and the fruit tasted fresh. The waffle was a bit dense for me, so I might consider having the bananas mixed in or topped with a sauce the next time I get it. The sandwiches also looked pretty good too, and you also get $ 2 off a breakfast sandwich when you check in! Missed out on their Gelato Pops too, so another excuse to come back. There’s only one or two cooks, so the food will take a while to come out. Make sure you’re not in a rush. I was the last of a group of 8 to order, and my waffle took about 30 minutes. Nevertheless, service was great and so was the food. If you find yourself on their website, take the time to read their heartwarming story!

Visited Mary’s again last week and got the chicken salad sandwich. It was still a hit! Brought some guests from out of town and they loved everything they had as well(breakfast sandwich and the other one got a bowl, with turkey, avocado, cheese, lettuce and a fried egg). This place is still a hit and I look forward to bringing more people here!

We stumbled across this place by chance. My friends and I sought shelter during one of the flash floods and came this little quaint breakfast shop. All wet and damped the server welcomed us in and had disney music playing in the background to really set the happy vibes. I tried a bacon, avocado, egg taco and their basic leige waffle(apparently what they are known for). The taco was made fresh, you could taste the egg being recently cooked as it came off the pan. The waffle was amazing. I am not too much of a fan of waffles but it’s chewy goodness sent me back to the days when I was a little child experiencing my mothers warm and soothing hot chocolate when I came back from primary school. I have now found a little gem worthy of five stars and a place in my heart.

Nice little place, come here for lunch sometimes. They have a great menu and awesome panini’s, I usually go with the chicken pesto. Only downside is they’re often short-staffed with only 1 or 2 people working, but that said they hustle for sure when it gets crowded. Nonetheless great little hidden gem here!

This locally owned café is super cute and convenient for those living in the area and needing a quick breakfast or lunch break. The menu consists of a variety of healthy and hearty options, and the staff will accommodate to your needs well. I originally came in with a Tastebud purchase, but because of a miscommunication between the two businesses, my voucher didn’t work like it was supposed to. Nevertheless, the friendly manager(?) gave me all the food I ordered for free. Such nice people, especially since I ordered a smoothie, coffee, AND breakfast taco! The bacon, egg, and avocado breakfast taco the staff made me was delicious, warm, and fresh. The Jane smoothie was a healthy way to wash it down, and the coffee was a great kick start to the day. Decent prices for breakfast and lunch fare also. I plan to come back for some gelato pops sometime!

Love love love the local charm and adorable owner! Great place to stop for a breakfast sandwich, gourmet coffee or waffle. The choose your own breakfast sandwich is my favorite. Some of the toppings include a variety of cheeses, avocado, hummus, bananas and peanut butter(yum).etc. All the pastries including the bagels, muffins, croissants, and breads come from Texas French Bread and are made fresh daily. Great place for a grab n go. Close to St. David’s Hospital. Friendly counter service.

We’ve had this catered several times at my workplace and it always arrives promptly and they set up everything for you. The breakfast tacos are my favorite, actually they look like cute mini burritos. They offer several options including a few with avocado in them, which is my favorite! Also, the salsa is super yummy as well. The waffles(not sure exactly what they are called) are mini waffles with some sort of syrup baked into it. They are heaven! I’ve also had their sandwiches and ice cream and everything has always been fresh and tasty! Check them out for sure!

I just really like breakfast. And finding breakfast close to the UT campus is kinda hard… you got Torchy’s, Chick Fil A, Kerbey, but I wanted something MORE. Enter Mary’s Pop Shop. It’s a small, cute café located on the way other side of campus(drive if you can), and they’re neighbors with Cornucopia. They offer those standard café drinks, breakfast sandwiches, waffles, and gelato! I had the Avocado, Queso Fresco, Fried Egg breakfast sandwich, which is exactly what the name says. For those of you who don’t know what queso fresco is(me), it’s a creamy, soft cheese that looks like egg whites with a light cheese flavor. This is excellent for me because I’m not a fan of sharp cheeses. It’s a pretty decent and dare I say healthy(?) breakfast(also comes with two orange slices!) for the price(around $ 5). But wait! If you Unilocal check-in you can have this delicious breakfast sandwich for only like $ 3 something. Look at you being all thrifty. Now what to do with the $ 2 you saved? BUY A GELATOPOP($ 3). Hello, this place is Mary’s POP shop, and who turns down gelato for breakfast? Their flavors rotate and they usually have one vegan option(they had passion fruit last time). I tried their Oatmeal Cookie gelato pop and my oh my, that pop was DELICIOUS. It tasted exactly like the name and no it’s not healthy even it says oatmeal! But who cares! It tasted like a cookie in gelato form. I will definitely be returning. If I can find someone to drive me again. :)

Mission find gelato pops in Austin: success! Mary’s is a super cute & hip café located about a 5 minute drive out from campus. Their menu consists of everything — from breakfast tacos, to waffles, to coffees, and don’t forget the gelato pops. What I’ve tried: — Salted Caramel Iced Coffee(2⁄5): I always order salted caramel at every coffee shop if they have the option, but this was mainly syrup, not so much coffee. I probably wouldn’t order coffee here again. — Peanut Butter Pig(4⁄5): Yum! Banana stuffed waffle topped with peanut butter, sliced bacon(!!), and sliced bananas — Berry Mary(5⁄5): I was told that people order this the most and I can definitely see why! This is blueberry stuffed waffle topped with sweetened cream cheese and sliced strawberries They make everything in-house and the waffles on the spot which is a-awesome! I’m definitely going back to try the gelato pops because what’s a better dessert in this hot Texas weather? There’s a private lot out in front so you won’t have to worry about parking and plenty of seating inside(plus wifi!) Also, if you care enough to check out the story behind the name of the café on the website — truly touching! See you often, Mary!

Listen, fellow Unilocalers, there is not one«bad» thing about this spot — WAIT! They are closed on Sundays through July… that breaks my food lovin heart — but they’re beyond awesome, other than that. Ken, the owner has got to be one of the hardest working, food love giving, awesome music playing, gelato pop making folks out there! The menu is simple, but oh so tasty and really does have endless possibilities with just basic, fresh and tasty options to mix, match and combine. The waffles are fresh made and oh so damn good. They’re Liège waffles and, until you have Liège waffles, you haven’t had the best. You can fill them or top them or BOTH with everything from nutella to blueberries to chocolate to pecans… and so much more! There’s lovely espresso drinks, even one with Ken’s made from scratch gelato in it… DECADENT! Breakfast sandwiches can be created to your liking, or simply chose one of the great concoctions they have assembled. Breakfast tacos are a plenty, as well. Lunch? Oh, Mary’s has got that covered, honey… there are grilled wraps that are mouth watering delish, as well as lovely salads. Oh, and that gelato I told you about that Ken makes? Yeah… that is the stuff my kids fight over. The gelato pops are just too srumdiddlyumptious to even think about not having… and having every flavor over time. All in all, Mary’s is my go to spot for any meal of they day and I know it’ll be fresh, made from scratch and made with so much foodie love that the foodie angels sing praises from the parted clouds above.

Decided to check this place out based on some other Unilocal reviews and the fact that it was really close to campus. It’s a small little hole in the wall. The day I stopped by there were a handful of people at the little tables and a single, very nice woman running the show. I ordered a salad to go(Old City?) and was really impressed by how fast she was able to put it together for me. When I got home I opened the to-go box to find a lovely salad of mixed greens with slices of apples, pecans, dried cranberries and some bits of cheese. The dressing was tasty and a good addition to the salad. I love a good salad, like«love it so much I want to marry it» love. This was a good salad. Not the best I’ve had, but worth coming back. The treats they have on offer were really hard to pass up. Seriously, saying no to a sweet waffle was the worst thing I did that day.

This is a pretty cute place, and sort of in a very random location near campus — I never would have noticed it if my friend hadn’t told me about it. It is sort of a random restaurant with sort of a 1960s diner feel. There is an entire wall covered with pictures of «Mary’s», which I found to be a cute twist on the restaurant’s name. I heard the story of who Mary is from my friend, and it’s super touching — ask the owner next time you’re in! I tried the gelato here, and it was pretty good — they handmake all of their gelato in the store. The chocolate chocolate chip is rich and delicious. The mint chocolate chip and cappucino flavors are a little bit lacking in flavor. The gelato has a really«sticky», pull-apart texture, almost like eating cake batter, which I find to be interesting! I’ll be sure to be back to try the gelato pops & waffles and the various breakfast sandwiches(there is one involving cream cheese and strawberries, and it is definitely on my radar). I’ll be sure to stop by again some day.(:

We came here after eating at an Italian place with no gelato on the dessert menu. Seriously? Unilocal to the rescue. I think there were 8 or 10 different flavors of gelato. And granted, this wasn’t just your plain old raspberry, vanilla, chocolate, whatever. This had character. The raspberry was mixed with homemade ladyfingers. Yum! And the vanilla was mixed with their homemade chocolate chips. There was even popcorn with the yummy stuff from Cornucopia next door. I can’t remember all of them, but they were delicious. I decided on the Fruit Loop(raspberry with ladyfingers). It was delicious. My date had the vanilla chocolate chip gelato(can’t remember the fancy name) & one of their homemade chocolate banana waffles. OMG was it good. This place is still pretty new(open a couple of months) & their selection is growing. I think I’d like to try one of their breakfast options next time. I’ll be back!

So when I was a fat kid, I learned to do three things really well: 1. Make people laugh. 2. Field strip, clean, and reassemble a Colt Government M-1911 .45ACP. 3. Sit & shoot a pencil out of my stomach, with unerring accuracy, up to seven feet. The point is I’m deadly serious now about desserts & sweets, because I’m acutely aware of what I consume these days and how often I consume it. And also, fat kids may be all smiley and laughing around you, but what they really want to do is blow your brains out. This may be TMI. But it does segue nicely to Mary’s Pop Shop. Unfortunately when I was there, the actual«gelato pop» portion of the menu wasn’t quite ready yet, although it should be in place by the time you read this. But there were four types of gelato available, with three kinds of giant gelato/cookie concoctions, which all looked good but exceeded my calorie calculations. So I went with a tarragon chicken salad sandwich. And it was a really good tarragon chicken salad sandwich. Huge breast chunks, grapes & pecans? Subtle mayo spicing & celery? Yeah, that works for me. It also appears to be a one-man operation, with him doing everything, and his website story is touching. The shop itself is cool. The coffee smells great. I’m curious now about the morning«Breakfast toast» specials, and how slammed he’ll be during peak hours. But what impressed me the most was when he took my money, gave me change, but then washed his hands, put on gloves, and made my tarragon chicken salad sandwich. You know stuff we take for granted? Don’t. So right now, I’m a fan of Mary’s Pop Shop, and I haven’t even tasted the gelato yet. My instinct here is to let the newness diffuse a bit, let the tweaks settle in, and give this place a chance to catch its breath. And then pop in for a gelato update. I’m calculating the moments.
