Melissa’s creations are beautiful, unique, and high quality. It’s always fun to wear her designs because not only do I love the way they look, but others frequently comment on how cool they are as well. I started off with one of her pop-out pendants which are sturdy while being light-weight, and for Christmas my husband bought me one of her 3-D designs. It’s a real show-stopper without breaking the bank. I absolutely adore it!

I have worn Melissa’s jewelry for years now and I can actually say that EVERYSINGLETIME I wear her jewelry someone stops me to ask about it. I also had the extreme pleasure of wearing one of Melissa’s bubble necklaces to the Latin Grammys a few years ago and I couldn’t take two steps without someone fawning over it. All of the necklaces and earrings in the pop out line make great gifts — particularly if you have to mail them! Simply gorgeous! All of it!

Just like everyone else says, Melissa’s jewelry is fabulous! Everyone who sees it says it looks like it belongs in museum stores, which is one of the many places you can find it. In addition to her jewelry, I love her ornaments! I have one that I hang on an indoor plant all year long. It is so chic and designer, and totally goes with my décor. Totally FABULOUS!!! Of course, if you decorated your Christmas tree with them, it would be phenomenal!

«That’s my necklace!» –Melissa B «Oh really? You have this necklace too?» –Me «No. That’s *my* necklace. I made it. I’m Melissa.» –Melissa B My jaw drops… As many of my friends know, I heart my Melissa Borrell pop-out necklace. I wear it all the time, so much that when I first met Melissa at a Unilocal event a year ago, I was wearing it! And again at another event I ran into her at(EaDo Palooza). My red pop-out necklace by Melissa Borrell is one of the most attention-getting pieces I own. Seriously, no matter what city I’m in, what I’m doing, who I’m with, no less than three people(I dunno why it’s always three, but it is) compliment my jewelry and ask where they can get their hands on one. And one of those three people is always a dude — a straight one at that. Impeccable taste, I must add. And just like Jenni-Beck S, I also started to carry around a bundle of Melissa’s business cards to point people in the right direction. I’ve love how this piece goes with everything I own — from dresses to tank tops. And since I’ve been wearing it since 2007, it’s still in wonderful shape(the silver chain remains beautifully shiny); and no matter how much I wear it, I know it will never go out of style.(I think I’m wearing it in at least 6 of my Unilocal profile pics.) That being said, her pieces are not only great to collect for yourself, but also make wonderful, memorable and beautiful gifts. Just ask Eren M, who constantly wants to snatch it off my neck! Girl, you’ll get yours. I promise. You can shop from Melissa’s studio, online or at various boutiques and galleries in Houston. And even the MoMA in NY is rumored to have sold them. Go Melissa Borrell!

Disclaimer: Melissa is also a friend of mine, but I would buy her stuff anyways. While going out for beers with Melissa is fun, giving her jewelry to people may be even more fun. Everyone I have given her jewelry to has loved it. I purchased one of her fine jewelry necklaces($$$) for my wife and it’s her favorite piece that she owns. I’ve purchased a number of the pop-out and newer 2D/3D pendants and earrings for family and friends and they’re always excited. In short, if you’re looking for an affordable and lovely gift, check out melissa. Also, her shades are super cool for city living.

Melissa and I went to high school together many many years ago. So, when I saw that she was having studio sale, I had to go check it out. Wow! She’s got so many cool designs. I had planned to just get one thing and ended up with 5 different pieces of jewelry! Her cool 3D designs are awesome and I even caught one around the neck of Camryn Manheim on CNN years ago. If you haven’t checked out her website, you should. Her stuff is available there and they make great gifts!

Melissa Borrell’s jewelry, housewares. and décor are all fabulous! Every time I visit her studio, I see something new and fun! I own several different sets of her Pop-out Jewelry designs, and I wear them constantly. Each piece is so unique, and you can layer them to match any outfit you may be wearing. That said, I don’t think I’ve ever worn them without receiving a dozen compliments. I was getting so many inquiries about her jewelry that I finally just asked Melissa if I could carry some of her cards. The best part is that her Pop-our jewelry is reasonably priced. I can feel special that I’m wearing«designer» jewelry, supporting a local artist(who is quickly becoming a superstar), and look beautiful– without spending a fortune. These make excellent gifts for any occasion! I highly recommend visiting her studio and taking a gander!

Disclaimer: Melissa is my friend, but I would buy her jewelry regardless. Melissa Borrell is an incredibly talented jewelry designer with a panache for pop-out pendants. Her signature item, the pendants come in either solid gold($ 50) or powder-coated metal($ 36). If you purchase one of these gems, more than one person will complement you literally every time you wear it. The other cool thing about her pop out jewelry is that the pendant part allows you to participate in the artistic process. The pendant comes flat and still attached to the metal from which it was cut(kind of like a business card with a cut out in the middle), so you pop it out and then form the pendant into your own 3D creation. Cool, huh? In addition to amazing jewelry, Melissa also sells etched lightbulbs that make really cool designs when you light them up, roman shades, and wall art, as well as higher end jewelry that will knock your socks off. You can buy Melissa’s designs at Kuhl-Linscomb or the Museum of Fine Arts, but what’s even better is to buy direct from her on her website or visit her studio during an open house.
