I lived here for two years from 2012 – 1014 and have nothing but nice things to say about Brian. Whenever I had a problem(saw a bug in the unit, needed an air filter, TimeWarner acting up, leak in pipes, clogged drain, etc.), a quick call/text/email to Brain was followed up with immediate action and the problem was solved. The only negative feedback I can give is that two of my bikes, on separate occasions, were stolen off of my patio(thank god for renters insurance). Brian genuinely cared about me and my needs as a tenant, and I would recommend this place to anyone.

I can’t echo the sentiments of the previous reviewer. In fact, I’ve had the complete opposite experience. The property is owned by Brian Novy, and has been in his family for(I think) over 30 years now.(Brian primarily deals with commercial real estate, like doctors’ offices.) It’s not owned by a property management company, unlike 99% of the other places in West Campus — if you’ve heard of University Realty, 512 Realty and the like, then you know that this is a good thing. When it comes to maintenance, I’ve never had any problems with getting things taken care of quickly and without fuss. I’ve lived here for three years, and in that time a number of issues have occasionally popped up — cockroaches, busted pipes, and a faulty toilet. These things can and do happen anywhere, but if they do, I just shoot off an e-mail to Brian(and he responds usually within an hour) and maintenance shows up within a day or two. As an example: my toilet had a small leak out of the tank so that it was slowly losing water and refilling it. It wasn’t draining onto the floor or anything — it was just going down the drain — but Brian called Steve’s Plumbing and they showed up twice within the next couple of days. When the plumber couldn’t figure out how to fix the leak on the first day, he replaced the toilet with a new one at no charge to me. So, yeah. Maintenance is great. On to other things. The apartment itself is kind of small, but it’s still plenty of room if you’re living by yourself. They’re one-bed, one-bath units with a kitchen. The tenants in the complex are generally quiet and keep to themselves, though there is a fraternity house across the street that can get loud on the weekends. Cable(TV+Internet, TWC Business class) and water are paid for; you only have to pay for electricity. There’s central air and heat, and each unit has its own hot water heater. The floors are all tile, and each unit comes furnished with a pleather couch. All in all, it’s a good place to live. The complex is dated — it was built in the 70s — but the price is good for the area(~$ 300 less per month compared to West 24th St. Apts right next door) and the management won’t leave you hanging out to dry like a lot of other places will.

I disagree 100% with the last comment. Brian is a fantastic and kind landlord. The apartment was well kept for its age and was very competitively priced for the area(West campus ain’t cheap). I stayed here for 2 years and Brian always was very prompt and cal led me when ever I had an issue and it was fixed in no time at all. Would definitely recommend this place to any one who wants to live in West Campus with-out living in the thick of it. Other than round up, it is very quiet which is saying a lot for West Campus.

Brian Novy is a horrible, greedy landlord. You pay overpriced for ghetto apartments. I had roaches and broken pipes, toilet, etc. and he did little to nothing to fix it but tricked me into setting up a year long lease. It is all about the money to him and the value isn’t worth it. Try other apartments.
