Be careful when quickly putting coins in the rapid buses, it can miss-​read the amount.

Boy, Linda and Mike were soo excited at the Chinatown groundbreaking for this thing. They looked like a couple of high schoolers who OD’d on soda. I was excited too – 101 style service on weekends. Right???
This is what citizens had asked for to improve traffic for years. We wanted to get around town quicker and faster.
Flash forward a couple of months. MetroRapid IS up and running
BUT… 1L/​1M service is inexplicably deleted as a ‘trade off’ even though it was never express. and had always stopped on weekends and even different areas!!.
It is replaced with two slower routes which are always overpacked. Good luck trying to get a seat. Or breathing room.
The two drastically differently numbered (??) routes run at much slower frequencies than their predecessors.
Say what?
And Capital Metro implemented a stupid ‘premium’ fare for MetroRapid. People have to pay hand over fist just to ride MetroRapid — unless you are a UT student. They ride completely free.
Hear the money going down the drain as we speak.
Actual ridership of MetroRapid is largely over inflated. If we took away those UT students, most of the city is not using this system. We can’t afford the premium fares.
Linda Watson should pack her bags right now She looks like something a cat dragged in after batting it around in ‘combat’ She is waging a loosing battle against Capital Metro riders.
And I still do not understand why.
Raising the fares even further (2015) can’t bring that revenue back. It’s long gone.

Austin found this really big red bus.
It has lots of doors.
It stretches from Leander to Kyle.
You get on at one end.
And walk to the other end.
It is driven by Mayor McCheese.
Which means it’s going nowhere fast.
It takes up all available lanes of the street.
And don’t get in its way even when it’s not around.
Or else Ponch will fine you a gazillion dollars.
Hallelujah! Austin has finally solved its transportation issues.
