Check in if u want a whore and drugs. If u smoke your luggage from the house will get u a DNR (don’t rent) even when u smoke out side. Oh yeah be ready to be pan handled by the low income guest !

not as trashy as you would think. bad area, lots of prostitution and drugs in this hotel. but the rooms aren’t too bad, you can tell it had a major overhaul in the past couple years.

I enjoyed my stay there, as a previous pool operator I’d even say the pool wasn’t bad as far as motel pools go. The front desk staff was awesome and I’d stay there again because of them. I will admit I was offered weed on my way to the vending machine, but in their defense I do have a long beard, wear thai fisherman’s pants, and wear a glass tongue pendant. The security guard was awesome, looked like a cop with his vest and revolver. Very America! I felt safe the whole time although the place could use a good power washing my room was clean. One of the cheapest places in town and I left feeling refreshed and happy every day I stayed there, what more can you ask?

The most horrible hotel ever, the room next door was broke into, the room above me was slinging drugs out of it all night, and the manager Beatrice Ruiz was a total bitch and was not in any way trying to help her customers. If there was negative stars I would give this place that rating, stay away from here, for your safety and the safety of your belongings

I enjoy my stay of four nights in this place. I will come back again, but maybe not with the family. I just don’t feel it is secure for my girls, but for me it is just fine.
Room was clean and everything worked just fine. Front desk is helpful and permanent.

I wouldn’t give these people any business. They confirm paid reservations and then tell you there’s no room in the inn!

I was expecting the worst because of some of the other reviews but the area wasn’t all that terrible, my upper room was fairly quiet and the staff were nice. But the SMELL of the room was awful, it stank of stale cigarette smoke to such an extent that I woke in the morning with red eyes and my clothes smelt disgusting even with my bag closed. I would have left them outside but frankly they’d probably get stolen. Room wasn’t particularly clean either, I saw hair and even a hooker-​painted blue woman’s nail left on the floor. All in all not a nice experience but everything worked like the TV and shower so I guess I’ll give two instead of one star for that.

Pros-​cheap, front desk was nice, security at night despite being by the highway it was quiet at night… or I was too tired to notice.
Cons-​the room smelled like they tried to hide smoke residue, the sheets seemed cleaned but I found a hair or two in between them as I did my usual inspection.
I’d say I built a mutual trust to stay there once more if I don’t find a better place.

Pretty typical Motel 6 experience.

This one was remodeled in their new style. I’m just glad they got rid of the nasty rug.
Most Motel 6s are located next to highways, but this one is extra special… there’s two highways! Plus, the entrance/​exit for the parking lot is on avery busy frontage road for I35. You’re going to hear «whooosh! whooosh! whooosh!» and «ROAR!» all day and all night.

Nicely redone room, in the M6’s new Modern Monk Style with a very nice flat screen TV. Pool looks inviting. There appears to be a fire in the past 1 – 2 days which took out rooms and valuable parking spaces. On the other hand, I’m betting our room’s fire system is in good working order if it wasn’t before! Nothing wrong with this place, bed nice, bathroom nice and functional, staff knowledgeable and helpful. Sparce? yes. Noisy due to lack of padding in rooms? yes. Cheap, for sure! Let’s get real here, clean, sparce, and inexpensive. That’s why you choose Motel 6. Expect the unexpected and you’ll be on target here.

After checking in and getting ready for bed I pulled down the covers to see a cockroach scurrying away IN the bed. This is not ok. While they did give a refund as we checked out be for warned.

Driving through Austin, unfortunately happened to be when sxsw was going on so hotels were few and far between and the prices hiked like crazy. Was able to book this thankfully without completely breaking the bank, and without being terribly far from downtown.
Rooms look nice, definitely don’t look like motel 6 rooms but that’s where the excitement ends. Cold showers that are a trickle, all towels were stained/​dirty. Even when we asked for more to be sent up, and the bed extremely uncomfortable. Motel 6 may not usually be the most appealing to the eye but its a decent priced place to sleep and shower. At this point I think I would rather the sketchy looking rooms to the nice modern ones, in hopes of a better bed, clean towels and a hot shower.

It is currently 3:39am. I booked this room because everything else around is full (SXSW), and being that I am a college student I am on a budget. Nevertheless, I had the money for something better just couldn’t find it. I have been awaken by some people outside downstairs fighting. Literally yelling at the top of their lungs cussing. Then, a loud megaphone comes on which was difficult to understand, but the fighting stopped. After, people are still outside of their rooms having long, drunk conversations. Might I add, sketchy area. Pulling up I saw two crack head looking people walking out of the woods near bye. I will not be surprised if gunshots go off, although I will drop to the ground. Oh wait, another fight is breaking out. Sounds like a guy yelling at some girl. I think I’ll be safer sleeping in my car in some McDonalds parking lot. Never again. It is now 3:48am. I think I’ll stay up, alert just to be prepared for a bullet to fly through my window. Wait, better idea, I’ll go sleep in the bathroom. On a brighter note, the room isn’t bad. Pretty modern. I swear to everyone reading this, I am not lying when I say there is some more yelling. My girlfriend is freaked out.

This hotel is sketchy in ways i’ve never seen a hotel be sketchy.
I was in line to check in behind a guy in a really nice suit.
While he was arguing with the clerk for cheaper rates, I noticed he had a real Rolex on.
Why would someone that can afford a Rolex be arguing for cheaper rates at a cheap hotel?
As I got my room keys, I notice him leading 3 girls carrying giant bags into their room.
My wife pointed out to me that they were definitely hookers and he was their pimp.
Ok, so that’s shady as hell.
Onto the room!
The first room smelled like foot odor and cigarette smoke had sex in a humid car.
The room did look renovated, but it was beaten all to hell.
There were cigarette burns all over the floors and the sink was stopped up and filled with a mystery liquid that wasn’t all water.
It was so potent, I couldn’t bring my kid in the room.
I go back to the office and request a new room, the guy at the front desk was ultra helpful and got me a room near by.
I go to the next room and it smells just slightly better.
Sort of like the old room except with added cleaner smell.
It was a no smoking room but there were cigarette burns even on the comforters which were also stained all to hell.
The final problem happened as I was holding the door open trying to air the room out.
Have you ever stopped at the light at 183 and 35?
I’m sure you noticed the group of people that harass everyone while trying to clean windshields.
They were our neighbors.
One of the guys just hovered around our car.
At this point, we decided we had to leave.
The front desk guy was really really awesome and understanding.
He totally gave us a refund.
I understand that the motel 6 isn’t a 5 star hotel.
All I expected was a clean room and clean beds.
It might be best to avoid this hotel.

Great location. Great price. Nice room. Reminds me of something out of an Austin Powers movie. Not what I was expecting in a motel 6. But pleasantly surprised! Bed was comfy too.

Before heading to Dallas for my big bro’s wedding I spent 16 hours alone in Austin, including five hours of sleep in this Motel 6. Looks pretty good for $ 39.99, right? Remodeled and everything. But outside the room there were nice guys with shag haircuts who were bbq’ing and smoking weed. I also saw a few smiling women with bloodshot eyes who really seemed to like the truck drivers. In short, the neighborhood is suspect, but the hotel is well worth the money and makes for interesting people watching.

There are no condoms in the Motel 6 gift shop.
When you frequent the Craigslist hookups section like I do, you need a cheap motel you can depend on. It used to be I could arrange a rendezvous on Sixth Street, take a $ 20 taxi to the Motel 6, make a quick trip to the gift shop, and get on with my business. Ok, so the Hyatt Regency it wasn’t. And sure, maybe some guy was shooting up in the next room. I didn’t care and most of the time my companion didn’t either. When you’re only using a room for an hour, you can dispense with the amenities.
And then, God help me, they remodeled the motel. There’s a freaking 32″ flat-​screen TV. There’s a semi-​platform bed. What was wrong with the old bed? There’s a fake hardwood floor. They replaced the bathroom sink! My last companion said it was some kind of European look. I guess some people like that kind of thing. Maybe the management’s looking for more «upscale» customers.
They even remodeled the gift shop! It used to be you could hit the gift shop for a pack of cigarettes and some inexpensive magazines suitable to the interests of the clientele. Now it’s hoity-​toity coffee table books and paperbacks endorsed by Oprah freaking Winfrey and works of art made by local artists. La-​de-​dah. Works of art in the gift shop! Who do they think they are, the freaking Lourve? And worse of all, for God’s sake, there’s no condoms!
Thanks a lot, Motel 6. If I want to book a room for my momma, I’m sure your nice little motel will be perfect. But I’m taking my personal business elsewhere.

This was my first experience staying at a Motel 6, and I must say it was pretty great!
The rooms had been remodeled and it reminded my girlfriend and I of IKEA. There were yellow and orange pastel colours on the walls, sheets, etc. It made the room feel warm and cosy.
The bed was comfy and located right next to the heater/​air-​conditioner and the window.
A (faux?) leather booth-​style corner seat with a table and separate chair was a nice touch. It was comfortable enough for two people to eat a meal.
There was a fairly large flat panel TV on the wall. Below it there were RCA plugs for composite video/​audio (I.e., yellow, red, white), VGA, and HDMI. Thus, you have the option of plugging in your own device to the television. Very awesome!
The sink and large mirror were basically part of the room and the toilet and shower were separated by a door. The toilet is crammed right up against the shower/​tub; a quite confined space.
They provide high-​speed Wi-​Fi for $ 3 per 24 hours. That’s not bad considering some hotels charge $ 5 to $ 15 per day for the amenity. That said, Wi-​Fi should really be free for all guests.
There’s a pool available for anyone in the hotel to use. We were only there one night, so we didn’t get a chance to see what the pool was like. Thus, I’m not sure if it was heated or not — probably not.
They charge $ 6 for a second person to stay in the room. Weird.
From the outside of the hotel you wouldn’t think that the rooms would be so awesome; it just looks like any old Motel 6 from the highway.
Speaking of highway, it’s right off I-​35 South — which is convenient. The entrance to the parking lot is just over a hill, so exiting the Motel (in a car) can be tricky when fast drivers come screaming over the hill/​crest.
This Motel 6 is only a couple miles from the Highland Mall, and there are many restaurants nearby too!
There are several Motel 6s along Interstate 35. The nightly rate goes up the closer you get to downtown Austin. At some of them the nightly rate even fluctuates day by day.
Also, Motel 6’s website is awesome and has heaps of photos of the rooms, and even a video tour!
All in all a very good experience for the price.
