North Oaks Country Child Development Center

Mark and Nikki are the great owners of North Oaks, and I love them! I pulled my 2 y/​o from a corporate daycare and moved him here– it’s the best decision we made. Not only is the price fantastic, but I know that my child is being loved and cared for while I’m working. You can’t put a prices on that!
The things my son has learned in his almost 6 months blow me away on a weekly basis. He knows his abcs, can count to ten, and can generally id colors. He constantly is saying or singing something, and I can’t believe he knows about it! Most recently, he pointed to a heart on one of my tshirts, said «heart, mommy!» and then beat on how chest and said «bump, bump… bump, bump!». He is learning concepts that I would not be teaching him if I were at home with him. It’s great to know that he’s identifying letters and numbers so early!
In addition, I get great support on parenting from Mark and Nikki. Their own kids are there, and they have a great background for supporting parents. I know that if I have questions, I can ask, and they are great about giving suggestions about things I wouldn’t have thought of.
We get regular updates about what they are learning, so that I can reinforce at home what he’s learning at school. It’s been such a breath of fresh air since coming from a more corporate daycare. They are competent and capable, while still allowing my son to have the flexibility to let my son be a kid.
Can’t say enough great things about North Oaks!

Mark and Nikki are great! They are local folks who care about the neighborhood and the children. My daughters loved going there. My youngest still does. My older girls had this last summer there and they were sad to go back to regular school.
They have plenty of activities the kids enjoy. My 3 yr old is excited to go every day.
The daily email updates help me to know what she was up to that day and it’s helpful to know what supplies she may need in advance.
They don’t serve lunch so you must pack lunches daily. I’m actually ok with this, I prefer to pack a lunch for her. They do provide snacks.
The kids are well supervised and I’m never worried that my kids will be found wandering down the road.

This daycare is the best ever. The owners are great. Staff is friendly and the kids seem to love them. My kids never want to leave when I pick them up. Something that can’t be ignored is how awesome the email updates are with photos and info about their days. Love this place.

My daughter has been here a week and I’m happy to report she is having a great time. The staff is super friendly. I’m definitely a germaphobe and I was pleased to see the wipe down everything. The staff keeps me updated on how my daughter does day to day. They email pictures as well as text them to me. The owners are also great and very friendly.

My grand-​daughter attended North Oaks Country Daycare for nearly two years. I remember the beginning was a hard transition for her, at age 2. It wasn’t until week two that they told my son that she could take a teddy bear with her to comfort her.
At the younger age group, the teachers seemed to stay around, however, when she got old enough to be in the 4 year old group, she went through three teachers in four months. This was very hard on my granddaughter.
Although my son and his wife have more details, from what I saw, the teachers were generally nice. My daughter told me they dropped the pre-​k program because they didn’t have enough kids — this is the program that is to help the kids get into kinder level at the public schools.
They decided to pull her after the supervision became more of a television environment and free-​for-​all. We started noticing more destructive behavior from such a sweet little girl.
It is a fairly inexpensive school and tucked away with lots of trees, but that doesn’t make the supervision and curriculum any better. I wish I had more specifics, but overall, I would just make sure you read up on any school/​daycare to get an idea of treatment of the kids. It’s not a top notch educational facility, therefore the lower cost.
