The coffee is always spot-on and I can usually find a place to sit. The baristas are friendly even when I bring my little 3 year old nephew in. Granted, he’s a pretty quiet sweet little guy so we’re not tearing up the place, but still it’s nice. He likes the bagels.

I use to frequent this establishment quite a bit. However ever single time I came here the employees attitudes make me regret my decision. They seem to judge anything you order that is outside of espresso shots. In addition they tend to be annoyed when you ask them any questions. I’m typically a decent tipper($ 1 per coffee), but their attitude left me not tipping them except for my change(cash gives you a 10% discount). When I did this the guy sarcastically said«thanks for the tip»… This establishment is now on my banned list. The only pros are that their seems to be seating(probably due to their attitude pushing people out) and the cash discount on drinks.

Meh. I drink a lot of espresso and the two we had here(post-taco espresso time) both were hyper-bitter-burnt. Hopefully burnt is not the style their going for. I’m sure this is a nice place and we may have just had a grumpy coffee guy(he was grumpy). Interior has a bit sparse, drab, and honestly, kind of depressing vibe.

Having become a bit of coffee snob as of late, I was eager to try out some local coffee joints while on a roadtrip. This place fit the bill while in Austin. A good, lowkey place to grab your morning fix with an awesome back porch. My friend and I each had an iced coffee which was good enough to drink black.

nothing fancy here. just a good old fashioned reliable & unpretentious coffee joint. the baristas are consistently bringing their A game. & there’s none of that new breed hipster espresso that tastes like stale lemon rinds. once over hits the mark for me.

Once Over employees have always been EQUALOPPORTUNITYJERKS. Their owner seems to be somewhat swell, but his staff treat all who walk in, save a select few, as if they are intruding ignoramuses. Their ability to pull a shot lured me for a couple of months, but their intense navel-gazing self-righteous disrespect of people just turns that coffee to mud.

They made good iced lattes. I always forget that they don’t have caramel flavor for the latte. They have good choice of beers :)

I love this place! The coffee is good. The baristas are friendly, and the atmosphere is excellent. Once Over Coffee is located in a great spot on S. First. Parking is a little limited, but I always find a spot on neighboring streets. When you first step inside, the space looks at little small, but don’t be fooled, there’s an enchanting patio space out back with excellent views.

This coffee shop has excellent coffee and atmosphere! The only thing that was a struggle was parking… Took me forever to find somewhere to park. Besides that though this little coffee shop is worth trying out!

Had a good iced latte here just to pass the time after eating tacos at El Primo and before I was to head to the airport for my flight. They have all sorts of newspapers for you to read or to fill in the crossword/Sudoko/jumble. They play good music(not too loudly), and there’s just the standard clicking and clacking of young people on their laptops. Lots of seating as well as booze available. Not much more you could ask for. Also, 10% off if you pay with cash!

My brother in law took us to this coffee shop on a Saturday afternoon. It was such a perfect place to have a before dinner pick me up and enjoy the lovely weather. The Patio is probably the best part, it is in a high traffic area, but the back patio feels secluded and relaxing. My Husband had the regular black coffee, I had a Chai latte and my brother in law had a cappuccino. All three drinks were different and delicious! I really wish they had more snacks, but honestly the coffee was enough to keep me coming back! Plus, the location was a huge win. All the food trucks nearby was a lovely surprise.

Parking is skimp, but luckily there are some side streets surrounding the coffee bar that you can park for free at. The staff is really friendly. They seemed to enjoy their job and each other which is always refreshing vs the standard coffee house grind. I grabbed a iced chai to combat the heat that Texas forgot to get rid of. It was spicy as a good chai should be. They have some small amount of seating inside of the café, a few table options out front but the back deck is where it is at. If you sit with your back to the café you can watch the slowly babbling water stream of Bouldin Creek that rolls behind the deck in the wooded area. It was relaxing and comforting. All in all I was impressed by this little gem hidden away on South 1st. Next time you need your caffeine fixing consider Once Over Coffee Bar.

For out-of-towners like me, Once Over Coffee bar feels like a bit of old, pre-gentrification Austin. Small, craftsy, a bit hippy-ish. A nice spot on South st.

As far as coffee shops go, this one did not meet my expectations. Pros: Plenty of seating The patio looked beautiful Cons: The guy who served me didn’t seem happy to be there, and I felt uncomfortable ordering The iced coffee wasn’t great. I prefer the cold brew method where it’s made with a bit of foresight. Whereas they brew it on the spot and put it over ice. My iced latte was just that, coffee over ice with milk poured in. It tasted more like a very mildly coffee flavored chocolate milk without the chocolate. With that said, I have not tried any of the hot coffees which could possibly change my mind. If I find myself there again, I’ll update my review.

The service was okay, not as friendly as other coffee shops I’ve gone to. My friend ordered the iced latte, which I didn’t get to try, and I got the iced mocha. I’m notorious for liking my coffee too sweet(8 bags of sugar into black coffee…) and ALWAYS adding cream and sugar. I thought I’d have to add a little more sugar to the iced mocha, that there’d be some residual bitterness the mocha wouldn’t mask, but nope. Flavor was perfect. Perfectly sweet for me.

Cool coffee shop on South First! Delicious hot, iced, and frozen coffees! There’s some seating in the front and some inside, but the best seating is on their back patio which faces a small creek. Gorgeous place to sit and enjoy some coffee!

They give you a discount if you pay cash. I think that might be the only good thing I have to say about this place. I guess that isn’t a complement but its not a compliant. There espresso was horrible. Maybe the worst I ever had. Luckily it was an espresso so it was only a few sips. I will never go back here and would suggest if you want coffee look elsewhere.

This was our first time here, and we came for lunch. It’s a convenient location with plenty of outdoor seating. Plus, it’s got a taco truck as a neighbor. The ambiance is cool, and the drinks are pretty good too. They also offer alcohol and some snacks, like breads and such. But, we wanted the tacos outside and just got two Iced Chais. They were a little on the sweet side, but should go well with spicy tacos. The guys behind the counter were nice and quick, so no complaints. If you’re in the area looking for coffee, this is a great choice, especially on a beautiful day.

Visited this shop per the recommendation of a local, since it’s my first visit to Austin. I must have been super tired and the iced blended vanilla latte sounded good, so that’s what I had. If you like sweet, you might enjoy this. It was a little too much for me, so I can’t say I’d recommend it. Should have tried one of their ice lattes(my usual) instead. They do have the smallest dog park around though! Very cute.

I’ve been here several more times since my last review and the experiences have been less than satisfactory. The biggest thing for me is the staff — they just aren’t friendly. The feel of the place is «I hate my job. Can I help whose next?» Additionally, there is often long waits and the staff doesn’t seem to move faster to get things going or even aware of the mound of customers waiting. Today I went in with my sister to grab drinks and food on the way to the airport. The person working was putting cream cheese on a bagel, but there were no other customers present. He took our order, slowly prepared it, and never made eye contact with us once. When I got to the car, my chai latte was cold! I’m sorry but if you can’t give me a hot drink, there’s plenty of other coffee shops that I can go to. Don’t waste your time here.
