So great! P Terry’s, an Austin classic, In a location that is accessible to tourist and locals is a win-win. Came here during a work lunch break, I was enjoying getting some steps and walking to lunch. service was fast, food amazing, the smell of the fries made everyone in the office jealous. There are a lot of places in downtown Austin to eat lunch but hard to find lunch for under $ 10. Plus this place is local, so no feeling guilty! Pro tip: not much seating. We took it back to work to eat.

P Terry’s was advertised to me as a top contender among the national/regional favorites such as In-and-Out, Shake Shack, Culver’s and the like. A burger taste test challenge is always one I’ll accept especially one with proclamations of this magnitude! I was in Austin for a long weekend to attend a wedding and the sit down, reservation options made more sense for our large groups. Luckily with memories of P Terry’s fabulous burgers swirling around in my head our group was headed back from a night out and craving late night eats I remembered there was a restaurant around the corner from our stay. The 5th star may be due to the time of night we enjoyed this meal but I have faith upon a visit during«decent» hours my review will remain the same. I’d definitely place it among the popular options for a quarter pound griddle cheeseburger and from the reviews of my friends that evening and the following morning I’d have to say they felt they same!

i just wanted an order of fries to go i waited and waited and waited while other people who came after me got their order i finally got tired of standing around after about 20 minutes and went to counter and showed lady my ticket for just fries. lo and behold behind her shes got several orders of fries just siitting under hotlamp! she got so irritated with me requesting my order without her calling me number that she flung the fries into the bag dropping some on floor and practically threw the bag at me across the counter! not only that-they werent even that good as too many were cut too thin and were more crispy than potatoe-y. they will never see me again after such rude counter service,

never tried P terry’s before so i decided to come here since i was in downtown. the employees could care less and the food tasted like mcdonald’s. fries were super salty. only good thing was my food came out pretty fast. other than that, i won’t be back, as there are much better places to get burgers.

My late night cheap burger post bars was pretty much as unpleasantly greasy as I’d expected. A real bummer given my friend’s enthusiasm for their main location. Maybe it was just this spot, maybe it was the rush but I couldn’t really find anything to enjoy about it. 2 stars for being open though.

Great burgers and fries every time. Shakes are good too. Quick service and eclectic crowd — college kids, homeless, coat & tie, police officers…

Cheapest place for lunch downtown. It has a different feel than the other p terry because of space restraints but I could care less when my goal is grab and go for lunch. Can’t find anything else in downtown that tastes as good for the price. Been here a few times when the staff self caught poor service and offered a free cookie or shake. Can’t beat that.

Better than In-N-Out. Fries are delicious and burgers are so good. The prices are the best part. The special sauce is the bomb!

I hated this location, but I guess it’s expected to be used for only the downtown business crew. Very little seating. Friendly staff, clean, and good food. Great for a quick lunch. I really enjoyed the fries, and the ability to get your burger wrapped in lettuce.

Not much to ask for its a burger who wants that Lukewarm ? Fries just ok. too .don’t get the fuss?

Terrible. This is the worst one in Austin. They make us wait over 20 mins, give me wrong order, then go get my order from another customer with it all undone and try to give it to me. No thanks. I’ll never come back here again

First stop at this location. Line moves quickly even though it’s crowded, orders come up without too long of a wait at all. A bit more cramped than most of their locations, but food was just as good. Hot fries, hot chicken burger and friendly, fast cashier and good prices.

Walking along 6th Street and stumbled at this Burger Joint on Congress. I must say, I am not a fan. I’ve had great burgers and this just is not on that list. This would probably taste real good to me after a drunken night on 6th but sober, it’s not for me. I don’t care for their string fries, I’m a thick fry kinda gal :) I didn’t try the shake but my in-laws said it was awesome. FYI, do not order their tea. Yes you have to put sugar in it if you like but it still tastes blah. I had to share a soda w/the hubby cause that was not my cup of tea. If you want ketchup, they will provide you ketchup packages. Their«special sauce» was the sauce we all know to mix two condiments together(mayo/ketchup). I was just not a fan of P. Terry’s. The environment was cool but the place was dirty. I had to wipe my own table with a napkin a water to take off the old crusty mustard/ketchup stain. The seating is small but this is not your order and dine type place. I won’t be returning to this place unless I needed something while partying down 6th street.

We’ve had a big meeting a block from this location(75 people RSVP’ed), and the sponsor has ordered P. Terry’s. The food arrived late(at least that is what we were told by the organisers), moreover, it was not properly marked — each bag had only one burger with a sticker of what kind it is. Only one of the first persons taking the burger out of the bag would know for sure what kind it is.(The fact that someone decided to take all the burgers out of the bags didn’t help, either. Few minutes later, we had a bunch of burgers laying on the table half-opened, as people were searching for their choice!) Veg burger had mushrooms within the patty. Eww. Chicken was shaped chicken, not a whole piece, although to P. Terry’s credit it did appear to be white meat only. Fries were too thinly cut and too oily. They didn’t bother to include the tiny ketchup part-bottle-part-container, either, instead providing the cheapo ketchup packets instead, which were nowhere to be emptied to if you wanted to have them with fries. But no labels on the food is really a takedown if you’re having a big event. This just shows how P. Terry’s has absolutely no attention to detail and no QA control, which is moreover evidenced should you visit one of their locations in person and experience their lacklustre customer service firsthand.

I’ve seen to have attended a very different P Terry’s than the one everyone is reviewing. I did not have a good experience at all, maybe is cool or trendy to go there but I was very disappointed. I attended the P Terry’s congress location on Sunday 9⁄20 in the afternoon. First, the location is filthy! Don’t look down when you come into the restaurant, the floor was covered in trash. The long table by the window was also filthy, good thing I carry Clorox wipes, because I would not feel comfortable with my son eating off that table. Second, I ordered a burger with no bun. They offered me to wrap it in lettuce. I repeated my order several times, no bun, just please put it on a plate. Guess what, the burger came with a bun! Ok, maybe is not a usual request so I returned it and requested my burger with no bun. The lady proceeded to open my cheeseburger and started to remove the bun. It is not that complicated, if you have a cheeseburger and you stick a bun on top, the cheese will get stuck to the bun and removing the bun after the fact makes for a messy bread/cheese goop mix on top of the meat. My son has sensitivity to wheat so that is not going to work. The lady was just in a bad mood or something, I had to keep repeating my order, explaining my request and after a long time and another customer having to intervene(yes it was that complicated) they agreed to give me another burger. EXCEPT that they put this new order at the back of the line and I think at the end they plain forgot it because all other customers were served, I finished all my food and my son’s order was still not ready. Really, there was no one else left at the restaurant but me & my son, waiting for a plain meat patty with cheese. Third, I ordered 2 drinks but apparently it was very hard for the same lady to understand that I would like to have my drinks now, even if I had to wait for my burgers & fries. Hot day as usual in Austin, we needed something to drink, do I really need to wait 20 minutes for a cup of ice water and a Diet Coke? Apparently so, when I finally got my drinks, the order was wrong. Fourth, the fries are horrid, thin and tasteless. Want good fries? Go to Moonie’s in Cedar Park, go to any Waterburger, hey, go anywhere but P Terry’s because their fries suck. Really, not sure what all the hoopla is about with this place, the burgers were nothing out of the ordinary, the service was horrid, and the place was pure filth! Oh, and the men’s restroom was out of order, so I won’t comment on the status of the women’s restroom. You’ve been warned, go at your own risk. There is plenty of good burger restaurants in town, many local businesses, no need to suffer P Terry’s!

I was surprised at the price but the burger was not as great as everyone makes it out to be. The service also wasn’t great. Took 20 mins to get my food because the guy messed up and started my fries after my food had been made. They also forgot to give me my shake I ordered so I had to go back in to get that. They did give me a free cookie but I don’t like oatmeal so I gave it away.

Part of what makes Austin a great city. Eat here over any other chain like In N Out. It’s better and it is local. You can help keep Austin a great city by giving your hard earned dollars to only local business.

If you haven’t eaten at a P. Terry’s, stop what you’re doing and go there now. Seriously, don’t read the rest of this review, just go. Still here? Ok, this is my go-to for a great burger and a consistent experience. The only time I’ve ever had any trouble here is when I order off-menu(I love that they tolerate that) and then they can sometimes get a little confused. The front-of-house folks are always welcoming and courteous, and the folks in the back making it happen are on their game. Food comes out hot and consistently satisfying. The shakes are great too, although I wish they’d bring back the peanut butter shake. It was amazing! Great prices! Great food! Great service!

This is the same burger I fell in love with on Lamar. PTerrys continues to amaze me with its consistency everytime I go. There is probably crack cocaine in the burgers because there is no way id be addicted to having a piece of meat between two buns. The burger is so delcious and I love how the sauce drips from between the buns right into my mouth. The ingredients are pri fresh and the right proportions. I suggest not driving because it doesn’t have a drive through. Also there is very limited seating inside. So if you’re not employed downtown good luck finding a place to eat. I got the chocolate shake here last time and it was very good but because I forgot my lactose pills I had to call in sick to work and needed to buy a new toilet. For the rest of you not suffering from lactose intolerance I highly recommend any of the shakes they r delicious.

Austin’s answer to In and Out Burger’s and it is great! It’s just like In and Out with the addition of grilled chicken sandwich’s. All of their products are good quality and local. I recommend trying one of their shakes with a double cheese burger or a grilled chicken and cheese sandwich. Their fries a tasty, crispy, and go perfectly with a side of their secret sauce. Tip: Avoid the crowd at 2AM the quality of food isn’t as great with their late night rush.

So, as much as I dig P. Terry’s, and as excited as I was to learn a location opened downtown within walking distance of my job, I don’t believe I’m going back here again. Here’s why… Odd ordering experience recently. It was a Friday evening around 6:20. I was buying for me and a coworker: hamburger combo for me, with just mayo and ketchup on the burger, and double cheeseburger with everything and fries. The young cashier had a hard time keeping up. No big deal. I even checked with her to make sure everything was straight. She insisted she had it. Then she repeated everything back to me, and it was all kinds of wrong. This exchange happened at least two more times, and you could tell the cashier was growing more and more frustrated. After dealing with this obviously frustrated cashier, she proceeded to give me angry stares as I was sitting waiting for my order. She continued to take orders from customers, but she still managed to make time to give me dirty looks in between. So. Odd. Our exchange, and then that awkward staredown, proceeded to get me riled up as I walked back to work. I know food service jobs must suck, but you shouldn’t make a seemingly patient woman almost want to blow. When I got back to work, I was incredibly shocked that my order was actually right. I would have guessed it was going to be all kinds of wrong. This little place just seems a bit disorganized. I haven’t necessarily had to pay the price for this, but it still creates a level of anxiety. It’s often crowded there, and some of the staff can’t seem to handle this.

I first tried P. Terry’s a while ago and really liked them. It’s basically the Texas equivalent of an In n Out burger, except they offer more choices including their oatmeal chocolate chip cookie made with Mexican vanilla. Seriously, if you go for nothing else go for those. They are the size of a fist, a dollar each, and everyone I’ve ever brought one to loves them. Secondly, they have a veggie burger that ROCKS! I gave them 5 stars because it isn’t easy to create a veggie burger that satisfies the way a beef one does, but they absolutely nail theirs in terms of flavor and texture. I’m not a vegetarian, but they make the patties fresh every morning and they are delicious. I know there are black beans in the patties but can’t tell what else. Personally, I hate mushrooms and I believe they use them, but I couldn’t taste strong mushroom flavor so I loved it. They cook them perfectly too, getting the crisp exterior while keeping the insides soft without being crumbly and falling apart after each bite. So good! This location itself is pretty cool being downtown just off congress. It’s very tiny(they only have about 8 – 10 window seats), but the views while you sit are fun because you can watch the people and cars go by.

WOW, I was so impressed with how fast & efficient everything was moving the first week of business at the newest P. Terry’s in town. Located in the heart of Downtown(on 6th& Congress), this Austin burger chain really knew how to kick-off the opening with a bang! From the second you approach the space, you recognize the brand and the interior matches their casual but fresh persona. With light colors, minimal décor but comforting atmosphere, P. Terry’s always delivers. The employees were friendly, fast & efficient from the ordering process to picking up the food at the end of the line. Burger was delicious & made to order with just the right amount of ‘special sauce’, lettuce and pickles. Fries here aren’t my favorite(I’m a sucker for Whataburger fries… I’m sorry) but these were tasty. Milkshakes are pretty great but definitely gluttonous. If you’re craving something sweet and not in a milkshake mood, take a chance on the banana bread or the chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. Whether you’re running out of the office for a quick bite or stumbling to your taxi after a night on 6th street, I’d recommend stopping by for a classic burger and a milkshake if you’re really in the mood to indulge!

The burgers and fries are delicious and only topped by the awesome shakes. Finally a place downtown where you get actually get a milkshake. One of the most affordable ways to get burger/fries/shakes outside of terrible options like McDonalds. They really move you through the line fast. Welcome to downtown P. Terry’s!
