Love this place. They have been around helping kids for decades. My youngest is in the boxing program and is treated like a man who is responsible for his actions and decisions… awesome!

This Center has been a place for kids to connect with their culture and heritage. Boxing, Karate. Great place for Chicano or Mexican kids to explore who they are. And the stage is cool. Art done by our one and only Raul Valdez

City of Austin summer camp programs at rec centers can be a gamble — you have to meet the program director to really get a sense of things. Pan Am under Davin is fantastic! The kids are kept busy, go swimming at Deep Eddy, do cool field trips, and are generally happy campers. There can be some behavioral issues from some of the kids, so keep an open communication with your kid to address anything that may crop up.

The center is in pretty good condition — it still looks new! I love the location — central, yet hidden away in a quiet neighborhood. My boyfriend’s daughters attended summer day camp here. I like that they kept them active with daily activities, including crafts, studio time, and computer time. Also, they took weekly field trips to museums in Austin, and on Fridays they went to Deep Eddy’s. A warm lunch was provided to all students free of charge at the elementary school next door. One complaint that I do have is the amount of yelling from a couple of the instructors. Even when I went to pick up the girls on their first day, the instructor that I went to ask about their whereabouts was shouting at a boy across the gym — and I was standing right next to her. The girls also commented that this instructor shouted at their group all day. I’m not saying rambunctious kids shouldn’t be reprimanded; however, constantly yelling at them usually won’t solve anything. The price of the camp is very reasonable.
