I used to love their turkey but they recently changed it to a slimy, thick sliced Oscar Meyer type. I bought a turkey sub yesterday and instead of the thinly sliced turkey meat that they have always used(it was similar to Boar’s Head meat that you would get at a deli) they now have those thick, circular turkey slices with the fatty crust around the edges. It was exactly like the gross Oscar Meyer meat you can buy at the supermarket. After I got home and opened my sub and saw the new turkey I called the shop. The employee confirmed that they were using a new type of turkey. I wish I took a photo so I could illustrate how disgusting the meat was. Won’t be back.

I was very worried about eating here because the girl behind the counter did not know anything about gluten allergies. If you offer gluten free bread your staff should be trained to know if your items on your menu are gluten free. I asked her if all of the condiments were gluten free specifically the mayo and she said she did not know. She made no effort to find out. I asked her if she could ask someone and she said there wasn’t anyone to ask so I asked her to look on the container for the ingredients. Which she did. The sandwich on gluten free bread was good but I have to admit I was really worried if I was really eating gluten free. This was my first visit time at Planet Subs so I am trusting staff to guide me through the menu and don’t feel I was getting any assurance from her. My point… if you offer gluten free bread shouldn’t your staff be informed about what gluten allergies mean.

It was alright. Not anything to write home about, but pretty good. I like that they toasted it, but it was still quite moist. Really nice service though. :)

First off– I LOVE sandwiches. Like I actually dream about sandwiches. But not these :(I will say, sandwiches are completely subjective, and I have no beef with the service or the business itself, I just don’t like the sandwiches here. Like, at all. I have given planet sub two chances, and usually my policy is three strikes you’re out– but I just love sandwiches too much to go here again. I don’t like the bread, I don’t like that they toast it with the veggies inside so they are warm and soggy. And I HATED the ranch. Ranch is king for me and if the sandwich isn’t strong enough to stand on its own, at least have a good ranch to drench it in. I feel mean for writing this review, I hate writing bad reviews. But again, no problem with the business or the peeps, just hate the sammies. Not my jam.

The service was great and the very young woman behind the counter was attentive and helpful. I wasn’t happy with the quality of the sandwich especially for the price. Almost six dollars after tax for a six inch turkey with basic and very light amounts of veggies. I had a basic turkey sandwich and there wasn’t cheese, that was my mistake I guess. It didn’t look like the pictures I see. The bread was too toasted and the turkey was honestly the driest meat I ever remember having. I’d rather one sheet of paper on the sandwich or in a basket instead of tin foil. Good attempt but I won’t be back. Also, kinda hipster-wannabe.

I very much enjoy the large vegetarian section! I always get one of the wraps… They also have Tempe. Which is a giant plus.

Always fast. Always right. Always delicious. This place is consistently clean. It’s in a great location. You are greeted as you come in and out. Great establishment!

Based on quality and price, this is a 2-star restaurant. I just ordered the worst chicken parmesan sandwich in the history of this planet — Planet Sub. The chicken was absolutely tasteless. The sauce was bland. I couldn’t even taste the parmesan because the hearty bread overpowered it. Three strikes with one sandwich. I won’t be back.

This place has really gone down hill. The last two times my husband and I ate here we both got sick within 30 minutes of eating the food. The food use to be so delicious, and honestly some of the best subs I’ve ever had, I’m not sure if the people working there are not washing their hands or keeping the food at the right temperature, but I will never be back. The first time we got sick we thought maybe it was something else we ate, so we went back a few weeks later, and again sick within 30 minutes of eating, I will spare you the details but let’s just say it was enough to make me NEVER go back. :(I would give it negative stars if I could.

This place is awesome! How have I not been here before? They have romain wraps too for an awesome no carb option, #win Not a run of the mill sub, interesting combos and always a specialty sub as well to keep it fresh. Their bread is a white wheat blend but not to worry they have a gluten free option too! All in awesome experience!

Unbelievable sandwiches and cookies! My favorite sandwich is the Experience… cream cheese with jalapeños, pepperoni, bacon, and chipotle mayo. Don’t forget about the Super Hero and so many others!!!

Cream cheese on my sandwich — yes please! I had never had cream cheese on a normal savory lunch sandwich, but OMG — it was amazing! I had been curious about this sandwich shop close to my work so I decided to check it out one day and I was impressed. All the ingredients here seemed to be fresh and a little different than some of other basic chain spots. I ended up ordering the Green Turkey on a 12 inch, which is oven roasted turkey, bacon, cream cheese, guacamole, onions, sprouts, tomato and salsa. First of all the 12 inch sandwich was way way HUGE… next time I will just get the 6 inch. It ended up being 2 meals for me. The 12 inch subs here are bigger then the typical Subway 12 inch subs. The turkey, guacamole, cream cheese and bacon were all the perfect combination then you got a hit of a little spiciness from the salsa … it was really unlike any sub I had ever had and so good I will be back soon. They also had other sandwiches with cream cheese on them I am super excited to try like the Creamy Club and Beefeater. They also do classic sandwiches made how you want it, veggie sandwiches, lettuce wraps, tortilla wraps and salads. If you are looking for a hearty, filling, tasty sandwich for lunch or dinner this is definitely a spot to check out!

My gf and I came here after seeing them on Unilocal and decided to give them a try. I ordered the beefeater and a side salad and was greatly disappointed. Immediately after I ate my salad I started to feel sick. I checked for an expiration date on the dressing but there was none. I tried to eat my beefeater and was saddened by the lack of flavor. I could only take a few bites as the nausea after the salad was to much to handle. My girlfriend felt the same way but was able to finish her meal. We left right after she finished and when we got home felt even more sick. I’ve heard that if the lettuce isn’t washed right it could cause issues. I’m not saying they didn’t do their job but it is weird that both of us would get sick at the same time. All in all we will probably not be back. If your looking for a sandwich go somewhere else unless you like no flavor and getting sick.

Ahh sadly wasn’t impressed. This sandwich shop won’t pull me away from freebirds again. I ordered the green turkey. No options on the type of bread and wasn’t asked if i wanted it toasted.(Which it was when I got it). It was just a sandwich. Nothing more. Slightly better than Subway, but at almost $ 10 for the sub, I expected something special… like a song and dance as you hand me my over-priced sandwich.

I originally wasn’t going to write a review because I got sick immediately after eating here, and didn’t want to blast them because you never know the circumstance. But once I saw other reviews said the same I thought it would be best to post my experience. Anyone who personally knows me knows I LOVE sandwiches and usually end up at a sandwich place when I’m out and about. We were in the area and found Planet Sub on Unilocal and thought we’d give them a try. My boyfriend and I stopped in around 1pm today for lunch and were already surprised that there was no line and only 2 other people in the restaurant. Multiple restaurants in the same parking lot were still pretty packed from the lunch rush, maybe that should have been a sign. I ordered a small roast beef/au jus with a small salad with ranch. My boyfriend had a large Beefeater with a small salad with ranch. We both walked in starving and excited to receive our food. I was already a little bummed when we received our salads with Kraft ranch, it tasted like miracle whip. My boyfriend ate his salad and then 3 bites of his sandwich before complaining of of stomach pain and nausea. I thought it was a little odd because he can normally eat 2 large sandwiches without any issue and he didn’t even get through a few bites. I got about ½ way through my small sub before experiencing severe pain in my abdomen. We checked the ranch packets for an expiration date and saw none :/After leaving the restaurant we continued to have pain for several hours and spent the entire day in bed. It was most definitely a very unpleasant experience and we will not be coming back. If we continue to feel ill in the morning we will be heading to the doctor and calling the restaurant.

I was really looking forward to a good sub but was very disappointed after my experience. First, I was very shocked that they didn’t offer white bread. I understand that many people like to stay away from white bread but being a sandwich shop it is a crime not to offer both white and wheat bread options. Second, I asked them not to toast my sandwiches and they did. Not the worse thing that could happen but it was definitely not a positive. Lastly, the food was not good. I was sick after eating my sandwich and so was the other person I was with who had a completely different sandwich. I will absolutely never eat at another Planet Sub.

Who doesn’t love cream cheese in basically EVERY sub? This little gem opened like a year ago and it’s one of my frequent stops when I crave a sub. The sub can be a little heavy so make sure you’re hungry if you’re visiting. My favorite sub is the green turkey or the crab-californian. They are amazing. Parking is easy, they have wi-fi, and their bread is baked daily.

I had no idea we had planet subs here in Austin, but I am happy to say that this one maintains the quality levels of the original ones up in Lawrence(with the exception of not carrying the caesar salad, which is sad). Either way, the place is great. The meat they use seems to be of much higher quality than others, and their bread is just top notch. I noticed they do catering /delivery as well so if you need that then it’s a possibility. Gluten free bread /lettuce wraps are available. If you haven’t been yet you’re doing yourself a disservice. Go there and get one of the best Subs in Austin

Planet Sub is pretty good. They are what Quiznos strives for. I have had the Planet Sub, and their version of a chicken club. The planet sub(the original) was tasty. I liked that the bread had a crisp crust but the inside was soft and does not cut up the roof of your mouth by the time you complete the sandwich. I wouldn’t put it in a category with Jimmy John’s or Thundercloud after one visit but I would take it over Subway, Quiznos, or Schlotzky’s any day.

Planet sub(at least the brodie oaks location) carries gluten free rolls baked fresh from a local bakery. I had an italian sub on it, and it was delicious. All their sandwiches are warm, which is great. Be warned that the roll is smaller and rounder more like a bun rather than the GF bun at other places. I enjoyed sitting outside. The staff was very friendly. This will be a new lunch spot for me!
