We wandered in Prelog’s last night and were treated to one of the best dinners I have had in a long time. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgable. We sat in front of the impeccably clean kitchen and watched Chef Florian Prelog work his magic. I felt like I had been invited into his home for a five star meal. We had the beef tartar, ravioli(best I’ve ever had), and the snapper. Every dish was served to perfection! I can’t wait to go back.

I had enjoyed the cocktails prepared by their mixologist Anthony at another restaurant and followed him here. What a gem of a place. It was a business dinner and we decided upon the five course prix fixe menu and it did not disappoint. From the moment the meal began, no one could stop talking about the quality and impeccable detail to each preparation. My guests were able to be seated so they could view the open kitchen and they really enjoyed that. The ending was capped off with the chef coming out to the table for a toast of Anthony’s superb limoncello. We will be back. Absolutely a delicious time.

I would give them 5 stars but the Parking and one dish got them 4… but you HAVE to try Prelog’s! This was the most refreshing meal I have had in Austin in a long time. There are so many new places, fancy places, expensive places… and for the most part my husband and I are rather disappointed but not with Prelog’s! A restaurant friend of ours recommended this place… and he definitely has good taste so we had to try it. We went in on a Sunday which oddly… only had one other couple in the entire restaurant for dinner? The good news is we were waited on like kings and queens by the staff and new Sommelier. Pro’s 1. Fancy type of food(gorgeous plating) but not super tiny tiny portions-we weren’t hungry at the end which is a miracle because my husband is a big Texas man. 2. They make their own bread in house and it is divine and worth all of the calories. We had two orders. It looks sort of think and uninteresting but the flavor was unbelievable! 3. Amuse Bouche was a warm potato salad topped with corned beef foam that was filling and delicious. I am sure it changes but this was yummy! 4. Sunday supper plate last evening was boiled beef or rather a french type pot roast. It was sliced and in a bowl with delicious broth and served with a bowl of salad, crispy potatoes, sauteed fresh spinach, and carrots/celery-all very flavorful and a steal at $ 25 5. The Beet Terrine was super fresh, tiny beets, greens, and an outrageous horseradish ice cream. 6. I did not partake in the beef cheek ravioli but the three others raved about it’s delicate deliciousness. 7. Two at my table had the«other» beef on the menu which was sliced petite tenderloin which was melt in your mouth and served with a side of tortellini for each of them-again to die for! The ambiance, food, and service was outstanding! Con’s 1. There is no Valet Parking. There is parking, if you can find it and don’t have a large truck, in the 360 condo tower in which it resides. Besides that there is the courthouse/county building which you shouldn’t park in and very little street parking. They said they were working on valet… UBER(oh yeah we don’t have that any more) or another ride share would be the best option. 2. Dessert was the only underwhelming dish… we had the chocolate which was basically small squares of a flourless chocolate cake on top of a desk of raspberry gelatin like substance, a bit of ice cream and sauce. It was good but not great compared to the rest of the meal. The others had the apricot fritter with apricot ice cream(ice cream was delicious!). 3. We wanted the Chateaubriand but did not realize that it was 45 minutes and by the time we figured out what we wanted, etc it was going to be late. So I would try it next time but make sure you order it up front if it is available–

An undiscovered gem on the west side of downtown. Even the most discerning palate and hard to please patron will be impressed by this place. It’s not the place to grab a quick meal. It’s an experience. This should be on the list of «must visit» spots in Austin. The location is off the beaten path but well worth finding. Great wine list, wonderful service and the food is in the top 5 restaurants that I’ve experienced in Austin. If you’re a foodie and know what you’re looking for, this is the place to be.

Pleasantly surprised by this place when we stopped in for happy hour. The patio is a little hidden oasis and on a cool evening I can imagine it being a really nice place to hang with some friends. During the day, you’re listening to the construction — no fault of Prelogs but for now it does take away from what is a nice space. The happy hour is good with various drink/food specials. Our food was delicious, although even with the discounted price the portions seemed to fall short of expectations. I’d go back for the patio once the construction does down, just isn’t near the top of my list based on food/drink alone.

Absolute perfection. I’m immediately transported back to Europe and the best of the best eateries. The chocolate mousse is ridiculous, with every spoonful a flavorful gift to the Gods of chocolate. The Swiss salad, simple, but amazing and satisfying. And they carry Stiegl beer, worth an extra star alone. A new downtown favorite for me.

Absolutely fantastic evening– we chose Prelogs as a backup to the cancelled food and wine festivals(boo!), and it was fantastic. I enjoyed the tasting menu paired with a wine tasting, which I thought was an incredible value for all the delicious plates. The sommelier actually served us and talked is into many delicious glasses, but they were fantastic. Overall, our top dishes: 1) pea soup= divine, I don’t even like peas! 2) chard = divine, I don’t even like fish! There was an amazing smoky flavor that really made that fish fantastic. 3) petite tenderloin(omg) and the roulade– eating this plate literally took me back to Europe. 4). Pear dessert, can’t remember what it’s called, but I was sad to see the paired dessert on the tasting menu featured pears, which are my least favorite fruit, but it was killer. I loved the hefeweizen ice cream and the savory brownie like chunks. Tips– The wait staff will really bend over backward to make your experience great. We showed up at 7 and we had our choice of the beautiful outdoor patio or kitchen-overlooking tables(which we chose). There is parking in 4th and nieces, super convenient.

Came here for an after work happy hour last week. Good drinks, good food, cute patio. The patio will be way better once the construction on 5th and bowie is done — they’ve made a little oasis in the city, but the noise was construction was a bit annoying. The fish and chips was really really good — light flaky breading, yum!

My wife and I rated each dish a 6 or 7. The food was prepared well and presented beautifully but the flavor and use of seasoning was simply not there. Would try again, if they kick up the flavor this would be a favorite spot. UPDATE: The last dish, Lamb was great and packed with flavor. Revised review up

This restaurant is amazing. They have both a pre-fix option or a la carte. If you want a great wine pairing, do the pre-fix option as it has wine pairing suggestions. Each course that was brought to our table was well received. The beef tartare was superb with such great flavor. Risotto was rich while still light. The chicken was prepared three different ways with amazing sauces. If you have the chance, recommend sitting outside for the fantastic view. Or try sitting next to the kitchen to watch the preparations from the extremely handsome chef that is hands-on with each plate. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

The food here at Prelog’s is delicious and outside the box of your typical Austin cuisine. As diverse of a culinary scene there is in Austin there are quite a few places that have similar dishes that are so called creative and original. Tell me how many places have variations of Brussel sprouts homemade sausages, ribs, or qual eggs on top of random crap. You won’t find typical here ! So don’t be alarmed if you can’t order a taco, think outside of your comfort zone. I have to say I have no idea why some people are negative about coming here but can only conclude that they are used to eating at places that are typical to what they feel is Austin worthy. Meaning BBQ, Tex mex, breakfast tacos, Brussel sprouts a million ways and hipster wait staff . I actually enjoy going somewhere where my waiter/waitress isn’t stoned and ignores me cause I’m not sporting a handle bar mustache with black framed glasses. Tons of the people that won’t pay $ 40 for an awesome all you can eat short ribs, eggs Benedict and fresh fish brunch will pay that same amount for a pound and a half of brisket at Rudys BBQ! Get out of your plain everyday routine and try something new people! It’s easy to dismiss a quality restaurant like this when you don’t understand the procedures they go through to make some of these dishes. If your familiar certain techniques you’ll know what I mean about the quality. The entire staff is amazing and extremely friendly and the times I’ve been here I always get treated like family. This is me being unbiased and real, if I for one second I had been treated other wise believe me id be all over it like so many other reviews. All the chefs here are from Europe and have extensive culinary training. Chef Prelog is extremely true to proper technique in his preparations and does not compromise on quality. Please give this place a try, I know if you are really trying to enjoy yourself and have a good time you most definitely will get the best experience out of Prelog’s. Going anywhere with a negative attitude will only lead to negative results.

In town for thanksgiving and we decided to give this place a try for their take on the dinner: simply amazing experience. Check out the photos: fixed menu with wine pairing(or not if you’re not a drinker). The appetizer(fish) was amazing, as was the soup, the turkey, the Brussel sprouts side, the cheese board, the dessert, the Egg Nog(with alcohol) and all the wine pairings for each for $ 99 per person. Well satisfied. Parking is a nightmare down here otherwise.

This review is regarding brunch. A difficult one for me because if I’m looking at value, then this review would be 3 stars. At $ 40, plus tax and tip, and not including coffee or mimosas(an extra $ 20 for unlimited or thankfully you can order them a la carte) there are better choices in this price range. For example, Green Pastures, Trio at the Four Seasons, and Vox Table. This may be why at prime brunch time on a Sunday the place was eerily empty. The buffet items offered was a limited selection. Of these, the best things are the prosciutto wrapped melon and the salmon(my companions assured me… since I’m allergic sadly). The way to go here is definitely with the included hot items ordered off the menu; we tried them all and everything was quite good. We couldn’t agree on which were our favorites, two of us said the short rib and polenta was the best and the other two favored the creamy risotto parmesan. But the savory eggs benedict, colorful frittata and the succulent trout in foil weren’t far behind. Pro Tip: read where their parking garage is located on their website — it’s hard to find otherwise and it is much cheaper than the surrounding paid parking lots.

When you write a not-so-great review and the really nice owner private messages you to apologize for any confusion regarding the brunch options and thanks you anyway for taking the time to write said review… well, crap. You just feel like such a jerk. Since my visit two months ago, I have not had the chance to go back to Prelog’s, but the fact that Florian read my review and reached out to me in the kindest way makes me want to bump this review up a star. It’s obvious that Florian and his team take pride in their restaurant and they really do care about the customer experience. I truly wish Prelog’s many successful years in Austin.

I can’t remember the last time I went home feeling like a pregnant sow. Oh dear goddess of good food and service! This restaurant is beyond five stars. We sat opposite the open kitchen and watched the spectacular coordination of food prep, sautéing, roasting and plating by the talented chefs. Immediate delivery to each table was complemented by three adorable bow tie wearing gentlemen and our spot on server, Amber. Our dinner consisted of European ingredient-driven dishes more flavorful and creative than any I’ve enjoyed in recent past. The owners, Chef Florian and his lovely wife, Romana, care deeply about their creation which is obvious from the moment you are seated. We spoke briefly with Romana who created the small wooden bow-ties for the servers to wear from the original flooring of the building that houses Prelog. Charming and so customer oriented as we have found every time we go back. «Cliff Notes» from our amazing first dinner: A French Pinot Noir for me and Smutty Nose Pumpkin Ale for Hubs A lovely plate of gluten free bread, olive oil, olives and chive butter A fantastic amuse bouche featuring a sumptuous pâté with parmesan foam Rich and tasty pumpkin soup Creamy risotto with shredded duck and shaved parmesan Flaky and flavorful Snapper with fennel and veggies «Die Erdnuss», a fabulous chocolate ice cream plate, showered in chopped peanuts, green apple and raspberry drizzle, and small chocolate domes(we ordered this twice; thus the big fat tummy) A very strong delicious Cappuccino A wonderful white chocolate, coconut and lime soft candy presented with the check A long waddle to the car with Hubby praying he did not have to carry me

NEWFAVORITEBRUNCHSPOT. Ok, maybe not quite. We do still love la V. A lot. But Prelog’s is amazingly good. It is a fusion(that word) of Austrian & other European foods with American styles. French preparation, European + American food. Got it? Good. We’ve only been twice and only for brunch, once on a Saturday and once on a Sunday. Sunday’s brunch is buffet style for $ 40(for $ 20 more get bottomless mimosas!) + a la carte options while Saturday is all a la carte. We opted for a la carte both times because quite frankly I could never eat $ 40 worth of food. Hell, I’m not sure I could drink/eat $ 60 worth of mimosas + food. No wait, I could probably do $ 60 worth of mimosas, nvm. The food here is very, very, very good. Expensive? Yes, but well worth it. We’ve sat at the bar both times, but the interior of this place is beautiful and very open. I think no matter where you sit, including the back patio, you will enjoy yourself. Also, don’t forget to drop by the open kitchen once you’re done eating and thank the kitchen staff! They are incredibly friendly and, we’ve been told, appreciate hearing that you enjoyed your meal(s).

Prelogs is a new trendy place with outstanding food/service and great ambiance. My friends and I had dinner here last night and even though we were the last ones to order, they still made everything great. The foie gras: seared perfectly. Beautiful presentation. The taste was good. Risotto with duck: this was one of my favorites here. The risotto was not too soggy and the duck was really good. I think the Parmesan they used made the risotto a bit of a salty taste? Should ask them to put that on the side. The short ribs: tastes like a Caramelized pork belly at the Chinese restaurant. Very tender. The sea scallops: seared perfectly with slices of raw scallop on the side. The beef tartare: not one of my favorites Snapper: perfectly cooked with a great taste to it!

Really love the Happy Hour here. Great specials on food but you will be blown away by the specials on beer & wine especially given the time frame they allow you to save $$$! Happy Hour pricing runs Tue to Sat 4:30 pm — 6:30 pm which is pretty standard but they also honor Happy Hour pricing from 10 pm — 11 pm which makes Prelogs a great late night option. Plus they have an awesome patio!

Ok Austinites, Prelogs is one restaurant you need to immediately add to your«MUSTTRYLIST.» I had been seeing random things on Facebook about this spot and decided it was time for me to give it a whirl. So I made a dinner reservation for Friday night with some of my girlfriends and we were all equally impressed with the quality of service and creative menu. Meredith was our server and she was extremely attentive and answered the many questions we had about the menu. They apparently change the Tasting Menu every night, so she had a lot to remember. Between 5 girls, we tried quite a few things, but here are some of my favorites: * Gazpacho– absolutely amazing. They present you with the vegetables in the bowl first, then pour the soup on top. Super refreshing in this summer heat. * Cured Char– light and beautiful presentation. Great for those trying to eat a bit healthier. * Beef Tartare — one of my favorites with an interesting avocado and egg yolk garnish. * Ravioli– scrumptious. The brown butter jus is the perfect combo for this dish. * Petit Tender– phenomenal!!! Definitely order this one if you are on the hungrier side. * Banana & Hefeweizen– extremely interesting dessert. You have got to try this! After a few bottles of Rosé, and a delicious meal, the girls and I took it upon ourselves to ask if we could take a picture with the chef. Without even batting an eyelash, they welcomed us into their kitchen for a group shot. A super fun way to end the night! Will definitely be back :)
