Primrose School of Southwest Austin

We love this school. The teachers are really what make this place great. Each class we move from we are sad to leave our current teacher but find great pleasure in getting to know another creative caring teacher. Not badly priced. Clean! That is huge for me. No clutter, very organized. Fresh meals prepared daily by chef robin. The owners are great listeners and love to hear us parents out on ways to improve or make our child’s experience the best it can be. Coming from MA it’s nice that the price of child are is cheaper, with that said ratios in TX are higher. At primrose I feel the class size is manageable and the teachers team it up well.

This update is in response to management’s comments to our Feb 18, 2013 review. We wrote this review on Primrose when our child was still attending this daycare and did not want management or the teachers to lash out at our child for what we said about them online. We were not asked to leave. We left on our own accord. And we spoke to a number of other parents in the same classroom who felt the same way we did.
We also believe discipline starts at home, but when there are problems in the classroom the parent cannot control (i.e. behavior problems from other children), then we believe it’s the teachers’ responsibility to show the kids how to treat others. A parent shouldn’t have to instruct the teacher how to do this, which is what we ended up having to do.
We attempted to partner with this daycare to resolve the classroom problems but ultimately decided to dis-​enroll our child to keep her safe and happy.
Since I wrote my 1^st review, we moved our child to a Montessori school and she has blossomed into an independent, curious child who has a TRUE JOY for learning! We are no longer worried about our daughter getting hurt or being ignored. I stand behind what I wrote. My comments were truthful.

Everyone’s experience can be different, but after reading Bruno M’s review and as a Primrose Southwest Austin parent, I felt compelled to post. Our experience is 180 degrees different – for the better. Our 3 ½ year old loves Primrose, his teachers, the classroom activities and his friends there. Having opted to move our child from a corporate-​owned preschool nearby, I can say that we’ve never once regretted the move. The curriculum is far superior. The facilities are exceptional – clean, modern and safe (e.g., a local fire department official told me that the safety standards in terms of fire safety alarms, monitors, etc. far exceeds required codes and is state of the art). His lead teachers and most part-​time staff we’ve experienced are among the most thoughtful, kind and talented teachers. Compared to our previous school, I can also say that they hire a higher caliber staff than most preschools/​daycares — there are plenty of college-​aged full/​part-​time students, but lots of staff with CDAs or Associate’s Degrees and more Bachelor’s and certified teachers than I noted at any of the other 5 southwest or downtown facilities I’ve visited. The owners are approachable and accountable, and I appreciate that fact greatly, too.

I LOVE this school! My daughter has been attending since May. She is one year old and loves going to school. Even the separation anxiety only lasted a few days. They have a great atmosphere and the classrooms cater to the developmental stage she is in. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It is a little more pricey than other schools but totally worth it in my opinion. The peace of mind I have when I drop her off is priceless.
