Went here last night(Saturday) and had a great time! Loved the décor and atmosphere. I didn’t experience the rude service some people are raving about. A-OK place! Only downside is it gets pretty crowded

Cute lounge with more secluded booth/tables. My husband and I came here twice during the night because their patron shots were cheap. It was dead when we went in(during sxsw) but it could have potential.

Meh is all I can really say. The atmosphere is sort of fun. I don’t know if this place is affiliated with the Pure in Las Vegas, but it has a similar décor. You best load up on booze before you get here because the drinks are WEEEEEEAAAAAK. And I say that as a 4’10″ girl who can get pretty tipsy after a couple of beers. I order a round of drinks for my friends and they hand me these tiny disposable plastic cups(not much bigger than dixie cups) that are half ice anyhow. My vodka cranberry was a whole lot of cranberry and ice with just a splash of vodka. Paying $ 5 for juice was certainly a buzzkill. The music isn’t awful, your usual edm + top 40 affair. But in Austin, you can do better.

We were roped in to coming in here by someone standing at the door calling out drink specials(like every other bar on 6th Street). We went in and were literally the only people there. The place LOOKS awesome… all lit up with blue lighting… and there’s loud music as if you’re in a club. The bartenders were friendly and while they were standing around with nothing to do(as there were still no people in the place) they practiced flare bartending tricks. and dropped a lot of things. I’m sure that if we came here later in the night it would have been a better turnout, but my experience there was nothing short of lame.

When I went to this place, I had an amazing time! I think it’s because it was my birthday and I didn’t have to pay for drinks… so I’m being biased here. but you know, it’s mah birthday and i ca do what i want! So I went here because I wanted to dance. and dance I did. Not everyone is down for the whole electronic/techno fad, but as a long-time 90’s techno fan, I was enjoying it. The best part of the night was when I started going crazy when the DJ started playing Avicii that the FLOORCLEAREDOUT until it was only me and one mysterious guy in a red shirt and black vest left. and we basically were performing for the entire club. It was quite entertaining to say the least. Great music, fun venue. I can understand if it gets hot, packed, and sweaty on weekends. But hey, if you’re a good dancer, you might be able to clear the floor out.(not trying to be pretentious or anything…) However, other Unilocalers are saying many things about this place being racist and denying people based on the color of their skin and that is NOT ok. So 3 stars instead of 4. Not that it’s gonna help their 2 star rating

The only thing«Hollywood» about this place is the black lights — makes me wonder how GRIMY it is when the sun is up. But that didn’t stop me from drinking a ton of cherry bombs here. They were all cherry, no bomb. They were okay — overpriced to match the«Hollywood style» they’re trying to imitate. Pleeeeeeeeeeease. Austin is WAY better than L.A. nightlife in so many ways! That’s coming from a girl who lives and parties in Hollywood. Austin is so much more REAL. People are completely hammered, friendly and they’re down to earth(and not knocking over shit and puking all over like Hollywood hos). Keep it real, Austin. (Stay out of Pure.)

I’ll start off by saying that I’ve only been to Pure twice. The first time was for the Austin Bar Crawl, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself there. The lighting is cool — I like how it’s bright blue downstairs and then red upstairs. Cool lighting is definitely cool. My only gripe that knocked my review down to two stars is the customer service, which of course is a big deal to most customers. The second time I went, the Friday of Halloween weekend, the bouncer was incredibly rude to me. Why? He thought my ID was fake. Um, it wasn’t. So my friends got to go into the club and I was pushed aside and yelled at for supposed fraud. Way to make me feel like an idiot in public!

This review is coming from a first timer to ATX(the best city in the world after NYC)! My NYC gal and I were looking for a more upscale loungey place on 6th amongst all the bro bars there and our friends took us to Pure! The first thing we saw when we walked in — a bunch of dudes wearing mullet wigs — where ARE we? haha but still very awesome. I think the drinks were pretty on par with the rest of 6th St — $ 5 mixed drinks? The décor is very futuristic as you can tell from the pics, very blue and icey ;) There are a lot of bathrooms! Definitely a plus. The dance floor upstairs is large and packed the two nights I was there(yes, I liked it so much I went back!). All in all, nothing compared to NYC clubs but very sufficient for ATX :)

This place is racist. I was behind my friend(they are black) about to be let into the bar/club and he was denied entry due to his shoes. He was wearing an express shirt, nice shorts, and black mid top shoes. So we walked away but noticed a white guy wearing basically the same clothes. He had a blue express shirt, long khaki pants, and blue low cut converse. So we waited to see if he would be let in. And guess what? HEWAS. straight up the rudest bouncers and most racist group I’ve ever witnessed at a club. I’ve also seen other people get denied entry that we wearing better clothes then white people… This place is pathetic Never going here again

I went to Austin for a weekend to celebrate my roommate’s birthday last week. We decided to go to Pure to dance because my roommate wanted to get his dance on while making the rest of the party feel comfortable. A few of the people in our party got there before us(2 White women and 1 Hispanic guy– I don’t normally specify the race of my friends but trust me, this matters). When my roommate(a Black guy), his Mexican friend, and I arrived we tried to get in. The bouncer at the door stopped my roommate telling him he couldn’t get in because of his athletic shoes. We were used to this being that the clubs in Houston are like this. So I politely asked if I could go get ther rest of our friends who were already in the club. The bouncer let me in to do so. When I went in, I noticed that our Hispanic friend also had on athletic shoes and was allowed into the club. I went back to the bouncer and told him that our other friend had on athletic shoes so why couldn’t my roommate get in. The bouncer changed his story and then said it was because of the red shoe laces that were in my roommate’s shoes(he bought the shoes like that BTW). I asked him would be okay if he took them out. The bouncer said no. So we decided that we would just leave because the bouncer wasn’t going to let my roommate in. As we stood in front of Pure, we noticed that a group of white men were let in with flip flops, torn shorts and Vans. We also started to notice that groups of people with Black males were getting turned away. One black male actually made it in the club because he walked pass the bouncer but was asked to leave. We are not sure why but he was nicely dressed for being on 6th street and so was his girlfriend. We couldn’t help but think that the bouncer of this club was being racist. I couldn’t believe that this was even happening in Austin. The city that’s supposed to be the land of the weird and accepting of all. Pure had about 10 people in the 3-level building and groups of people were being turned away. Needless to say they may have lost a lot of business from this but my group of friends to boycott every establishment owned by the same owners of Pure for the weekend. On a scale of 1 – 10 I’ll have to rate this club a 0 – we should be pass the acts of racism. Maybe they should reevaluate the people they hire or for that matter their own values.

Now, I’m not saying that these guys are racist, but a non-white guy following two white guys in our party was denied entry in essentially the same jeans/ed hardy style tshirt/nice shoes. Maybe they didn’t like they way he looked? Either way, it was kinda sketch. I don’t hate on places that have a dress code, but I do blink twice when they don’t allow those fitting dress code in the door. The music is top-40 and soso. Expensive shots($ 6 at least) with little alcohol. Stick to the $ 1 beers on special nights.

This bar is racist. I’m not making this up or exaggerating what I experienced here in any way. My white friends were able to gain access into the club wearing merely flip flops and shorts whereas I was denied entry being a dark colored person with a button down t-shirt, jeans, and nice shoes. I was not the only one that was discriminated here as I witnessed many other non-white Austinites being denied access into the club while several white people were able to get in without any objections. This was not just a one time occurrence as I have witnessed this many times before and I have to say that it angers me very much. I have no problem if this establishment would be more consistent in their dress code policy for everyone, however that is not the case and as such I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I would ask you to please carry your nighttime activites to any of the other amazing Austin bars here in downtown that are more open minded.

We ended up here on a Tuesday night while in Austin for one night. There was not a soul in the joint and… we had SO much fun. I was walking down the street with four of my friends, and the«bouncer» stopped my friend Ashley and I and asked us if we wanted to come in for a drink. We went in and stayed for hours. The bartender(not sure of his name because we were calling him Mustache all night) was extremely fun, nice and chatty. We drank Dos Equis for most of the night and I think we had a few shots but honestly don’t remember. The décor is awesome. It looks like an ice bar(which, to be honest, I was disappointed when I found out it wasn’t). It’s all glowing white, and there is a large TV above the bar. The bathrooms are all individual rooms and there are booths all set up into little nooks, making them more private. I’d like to see this place during the weekend to see what it’s really like, club wise, with people in it. As for a Tuesday night, it was a great place to go hang out and have a good time, with a great staff.

An upscale club on Dirty 6th? A place that looks at your shoes? Yeah…it’s the dbag joint on 6th but yet I still rate it high? Well coming back to Austin, I had forgot how dirty and nasty 6th can be, I dressed up a bit, since being used to going out in Houston. The normal bars are great for just getting drinks and gettin F’ed up, but what else is there to it? I guess when you’re just turning 21, that’s all you need. But when you’re a bit older you wanna at least dance. Well the best thing about this place is the drinks are still dirt cheap like other spots yet you get a upscale vibe.

Pure, damn your overpriced drinks, your belligerent college crowds, and your awful mash-ups of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. No matter how many times I remind myself of your flaws, I can’t stay away from those multi-story color themed rooms. Those stairs get me every time– I keep believing that if I drink enough and climb those stairs, something magical will greet me on the next floor. Then, in the haze of all-blue lighting or all-pink lighting, or whatever-lighting-inspires-your-drunken-color-wheel-today, I realize that this is nothing special. So to cope, I will buy your overpriced drinks and dance along to your Bad Romance mash-up. And then later, I will wonder why I didn’t just go to Thirsty Nickel.

The bar staff are some of the rudest bartenders I’ve had to deal with. Don’t give me a dirty look when I tip jack shit since you treated me like a dog. The drinks are also wayyyyyyy overpriced for being so weak.

Crowd: Ranks somewhere around typical but can get to downright sleazy before the night ends Dancing: Dance floor too small. people banging into each other Drinks: Abysmally expensive $$ Music: Decent, but there are better play lists in other clubs. Attitude of staff: The absolute worst. To be fair there are a couple of decent bartenders and the Vietnamese security guy is a good man. But that’s more than I can say about the rest. My favorite in that bunch is the greasy haired doorman at the exit door. That towering douche-bag is mean even to the girls. I understand that trying to look bad-ass while standing up a sum total of 5 feet and 3 inches must be hard, but if you think that licenses you to talk shit to people, you got another think coming. He is the very worst example of the wrong people given the power to crowd-control and thinks its his right to use it as he pleases. This, children, is an example of Gestalt Retardation, where the whole is greater than the sum of the individual retards. The retardation adds up and you will feel it very palpably by the end of your night, or your second time there.

Beat the Texas heat by going to PURE! As you enter this retro looking club you cant help but feel comforted by the room temperature compared to the sweltering Texas heat outside’ I like the fact that they have a dance floor, DJ and a pretty cool set up! Price of drinks during the weekdays is great and on the weekends your drink goes from being a buck to $ 5!!! Be aware!

*shudder I loathe this place. Every once in a while I’m drawn in by one of the street walker people that offers a free round to come inside. good things: the bar is clean and looks awesome, variety(3 floors, each w/a different vibe), places to sit down bad things: gag! the crowd. the top floor is buzzing with creepy guys just watching and drooling over all over the hammered and sloppy girls. this place is just a big hot mess… minus the hot. avoid at all costs – if you go in, make sure you’re getting a free drink out of it. If you’re a girl and you’re going in — make sure you have guys with you to be «blockers» or spot a decent looking guy(if you can find any) to dance with in case the creepers make a move.

Why do I always end up at Pure? I think it has something to do with the massive amount of consumed alcohol by 1:30 am, because coming here sober is a headache. There used to be $ 1/$ 2 you call its on Thursdays, but since I’m on a weekend visitor pass now, that ship’s long since sailed. Pure is everything 6th street isn’t about, so how it’s managed to survive this long perplexes me. They’ve rejected us multiple times with the«no tennis shoes» policy, kicked us out of the seating areas with the«bottle service only» line, and made us pay extra despite the specials, since«sorry, beer not included.» I’d totally give this place one star, but one night, we ran into a 3rd floor party being hosted by TJ Ford, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Royal Ivey. So you know, I guess that’s worth a 1 star bump. Whatever.
