Placed an order at 9:30, they waited until midnight to tell me that the order had been canceled. They should have let me know up front that it couldn’t be done so I could make other plans. A lot of people are disappointed by this crappy way to treat customers.

Very cool place. Sadly, I think I had it bookmarked for 3 years now lol Anyway, Quack’s is located in the very charming Hyde Park neighborhood with lots of other great local shops around. It was quite busy for a Saturday morning, as you can imagine, and I was overwhelmed by all the options. They seem to have everything here, and is heaven for a sugar addict. I opted for the pumpkin bread(because I love pumpkin everything) and an iced coffee with almond milk in it. Both were too sweet for me but I’m not knocking the place… it IS a place for sweets ;) I really wish I would have tried the salted oak or the nutella tea cookies which were mentioned in others reviews. Also, the cupcakes looked enticing… and the cookies a work of art although many of the reviews say they are just for looks. Oh well, next time ;)

This place is unreal! My husband and I have come in several times to indulge in the awesome pies. When I found out that we were expecting a baby girl, I went in looking for some type of pink dessert that I could surprise him with. When they didn’t have anything available, I asked the guy at the register if they had anything pink in the back(I told him what it was for) and he told me to wait just a moment. He came back and said that they did not, but instead he went in the back and got a fresh cupcake and they topped it with pink icing just for me! I was able to surprise my hubs with a delicious cupcake to reveal the babys gender. Such a great customer experience.

Always high quality great desserts. Have been over 30 times and am never disappointed. Have been for breakfast and desserts. Recommend their coconut cream pie, black and white cupcakes, salted oatmeal cookie and ginger cookie. Funny super nice characters work behind the counter.

Personally, I like Quack’s more than Upper Crust, but I am unsure if I enjoy it more than Sweetish Hill. Anyhoo, Quack’s gets kudos for offering a range of delightful treats ranging from the chocolate-y vegan to the buttery deliciousness of chocolate almond croissants. Personally I ‘d one of the best biscuits I Have had everywhere this year from them — ginger chocolate.

I love Quack’s! I used to live in Austin and any time I come back, I have to get Quack’s! The customer service is always the same, which is to say it’s great! It’s instantly like being at home. The key lime pie. This pie here. Oh my goodness! It’s so succulent. It’s the perfect balance of sweet, tart and crust. The crust! It actually holds the pie together and it’s just as delicious as the filling. I have to take an entire pie with me anytime I go. I pack a cooler just to bring back Quack’s key lime pie! Austin is a terrific city and I would recommend any one move here if to do nothing but eat Quack’s everyday.

I really enjoy this neighborhood bakery. It’s totally got a bit of that hipster feel, but don’t let that scare you away. The first time I was here, I did have a couple slices of pie(key lime and strawberry rhubarb) and I was initially disappointed. It was kept too cold and the pie crust was tough to break and wasn’t great. I decided to come back again and the pies were much better. No problems with the crust. I think I might have just been an off day, or the pies just came right out into the display and didn’t have enough time to come to room temp. Their pastries, cookies, and other sweet treats have always been delicious, and they have the prettiest cookies. Their coffee is good too. This is a nice little neighborhood bakery to get your morning or afternoon pick-me-up! Love it!

They serve sandwiches from Fricano’s, and I got the Turkey Special. Quack’s serves them with a pickle(optional) and with a bag of chips(get the sweet potato ones if you’re into sweet potato). Got a 20 oz iced caramel latte with it and everything came out to a little over $ 11. Which I am totally OK with since the sandwich was packed with ingredients and got a medium coffee. Service was great, superb even. The manager started to take my order, but seemed distracted and politely asked another employee to help me since he couldn’t focus on me(due to another issue he had to deal with that the new person serving me relayed to me). Everyone that works here seems to be so genuinely nice and it really ups the atmosphere. Plenty of outlets, plenty of tables for such a small space, and the big windows make it a great place to study or work at during the day. Lots of natural lighting. Wi-fi errs on the faster side compared to all the coffeeshops/cafes I’ve been to. They have a huge selection of desserts: pies, cookies, croissants, cakes, cupcakes. You name it, they probably got it. Can’t tell if it’s in a neighborhood or on the edge of one; either way, the location makes it feel, for lack of a better word, homey… or I guess, neighborly? I can’t see how anyone could have a problem with this place, but then again, everyone has different experiences. Maybe I got lucky with a having a great one here.

Dependable pastries, good coffee: those are the two reliables. The cakes and pies can be a strange consistency, especially the cakes. The cakes seem to have an odd texture but with a greasy icing. Not sure what kind of taste they are aiming for. If you are going for breakfast pastries, you are good to go! If their cakes and cupcakes were better they would get 4 stars-but they’re not. (As a caveat: their buttercream is very unusual to me-more«wet», and their cakes are of a sponge dough, coarser texture, than a fine texture. Cake is my favorite dessert!)

Everything I’ve had is always great and the coffee is nice and rich. Great pie crusts, buttercream cake frosting, and tasty almond bars: there’s something for everyone here. 2 for 1 morning pastries after 6:30 and super duper nice staff. I’ve done some work here a couple times and the wifi is good. Seating is typically small tables, so I’m usually here just for the treats.

This is my first time coming to the bakery! Wow! Where has this been my whole life! I love their croissants and how MANY pastries and treats they have in their cases. Very cool to see a store with so much variety! They also have sandwiches and so many coffee and tea selections. It was almost overwhelming how many options they have! I ordered the asiago croissant and an iced latte. Not the best latte in the world, but damn good and that croissant was the perfect small lunch! Overall I will be back here again and again! Trying all that they have to offer! What a fun bakery and the staff was very kind and helpful!

If you like thick crust pie(cause you know its the best part!), then this is your sweet shop of choice. The pie crust here is so thick, you’ll need a pretty sharp knife to cut through the confectionaries and they are mind bogglingly good. I highly recommend the key lime pie. Tart, sweet fresh bursting lime flavor in a gelled custard with thick crust. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm I tried some apple pie too but it sadly wasn’t that great. A bit too mushy. But hey, find a pie you like and have at it. No regrets for the weight you gain.

I really want to give Quack’s 5 stars, but it’s not quite there. That being said, I have had many more positive experiences lately at Quack’s — the service has definitely been more positive — they make an effort to ask how I’m doing and whatnot, and the place has in general been a lot cleaner. I will say that I always receive a warm latte, which quickly cools down — kind of disappointing. I wish they would make them a little bit hotter! Quack’s is still probably #1 for pastries in the neighborhood, but in terms of coffee & interior, it’s lacking.

Great bakery — cupcakes & pies oh my! Got the latte it was delicious. The family loaded up on desserts, peanut butter cupcake, lemon cupcake, mint truffles, and strawberry rhubarb pie. Thumbs up for all!

Wanted to say a big thank you to Quack’s for making delicious and very pretty pink cupcakes for my friend’s baby shower today. I ordered the cakes in advance, and it was very easy to deal with the friendly cake guy(sorrry, I forgot your name!) We loved the variety of flavors, I insist the carrot with your oh-so-scrumptious buttery icing is the best cupcake in the world. Everyone loved them!

Gosh I was really hoping their stuff would be good since my wife and I had been searching for a cute date spot to get goodies every now and then. The ambience is pretty cute and the location is in a spunky part of town but the baked goods were just not that yummy. The lighting out side is terrible so it is hard to find this place at night. As for the baked goods … where should I start? Well we got a nutella cookie, boston cream cupcake, and a chocolate cream pie. The nutella cookie was super dry and the«nutella» part of it is just a glob of nutella sitting on top. The boston cream cupcake was dry and a bit under-sweetened, it almost tasted like a muffin. The worst of them all was the chocolate cream pie which we ended up throwing away after a handful of bites. Every bite had egg shells in the crust. — Every. single. bite. I just cannot stand biting into a moist pie crust(expecting a little bit of heaven to tickle my tastebuds) and then getting pieces of eggshell instead of a smooth finish! It’s like going to an oyster bar and getting sand/shell/etc in every oyster. The shuckers are supposed to be pros so that should never happen right? I guess I will never be able to forget the experience I had with the pie. I do not know if I will be going back but I really hope I could brave the eggshells sooner than later to give these guys another try. If it weren’t for the cute ambience and funky part of town they are in, I would have given them a 1-star rating. Minimal parking so be ready to wander around to find parking on busy days.

My wife and I started a tradition on our honeymoon of buying cookies at local bakeries and bringing them back to the hotel room to have dessert for later in the evening. We landed late in Austin and after grabbing dinner and checking out Formula 1’s downtown FanFest — it was after 10. Most bakeries are closed at that time. Luckily for us, Quack’s was open! The service was great. Very patient with us as we scanned each display case for which treat we wanted. We finally went with a chocolate caramel brownie(delicious), pumpkin sugar cookie(really good), salty oats cookie(my wife was obsessed) and they gave us a free chocolate cat cookie(my wife was also obsessed). Overall, we enjoyed the treats, the service was great and we were happy with the late hours. Check them out!

This is my go to place in Austin for desserts. I’m a big fan of their nutella tea cookies, and my honey loves their cherry pie. They have a large assortment of traditional cookies, cakes and pies, so this place can easily fulfill every sweet tooth. Great place to study, hang out or just grab your favorite thing. For real, though: Get the nutella tea cookies!

The quintessential stomping grounds of Hyde Park residents when they need a place to enjoy a cup of coffee, dessert, enjoy home away from home or just to get some work, reading or socializing done. I personally love the consistently unique designs of their cookies! There’s always a new design to represent a holiday. For April Fool’s they had designed a cup cake to look like mash potatoes(see my picture of this foolish delight!) I personally love their lattes and the staff is friendly. Tables are a bit small but large enough to place your lap top and still have some room for your coffee. It can get fairly busy so there are times when you might not find a table available inside. However, there is seating outside and normally tables are available. If you plan to have a group meeting and have multiple laptops open you may have some limited space issues. Aside from that Quack’s is a great place to relax, unwind, work and take on the Austin coffee shop scenery!

I love me some quacks. No trip to Austin is complete without a stop here. My absolute favorite is the coconut cream pie. Its got huge shreds of coconut and topped with a heaping serving of whipped cream. The coconut cream also has a nice light flavor. Its not very heavy like most cream pies. The cupcakes are hit or miss, I’ve had moist ones, and some are probably not as fresh. The snickerdoodle cookie was pretty good. Loosing one star because on my last visit there was a fly in the cookie case, and they didn’t do much to remove it after I informed them of the intruder.
