Excellent, quick service. I’m going back to get a new watch band this week.

I had a watch sitting at home for awhile because the battery died.
Finally decided to get it back to running again and due to Rees’ positive reviews and the location, I decided on Rees’.
The location is easy to find and there’s is a sign on the side of his home for his business.
I walked in, said hello and what I needed. He got to work right away. He tested my battery to make sure that the battery was the problem and I walked out in literally 10 minutes with a working watch, out $ 12.99, after tax.
I have paid $ 7 at other locations just to have links taken out of the band.
This was a great deal.
I half expected to have had my watch dropped off and picked up in a few days or so but this was done painlessly and during my lunch window.
Small home-​shop that’s been around since the 50’s. Old gentleman who is experienced and knowledgeable who gets right to business.
I highly recommend Rees’ for battery replacement and I am sure he would be an excellent choice for other works that need to be for your watch.

Brought my watch here because my battery died. Mr. Rees worked quickly and knowledgeably to test my battery and confirmed it need replacement. Quaint little home. When you enter you will see his work area immediately. Very reasonably priced. I would certainly recommend.

Rees Watch Repair is a hidden jewel of Austin. I walked in without and appointment and Mr. Rees was able to perfectly and quickly take the links out of my fancy metal link watch and now it fits perfectly! Great customer service from a «kind» man. He works out of his home but has a special entrance right into his workshop. 5 stars!

I was a little creeped out that this business was run out of a residential home, but after reading the previous Unilocal reviews, I gave him a try. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes, and paid practically nothing to have a couple of links taken out of my watch (I have freakishly small wrists, so I’ve had my fair share of shady jewelers). Don’t be deterred… just give him a ring before coming and he’ll let you know if he’s available.

Great service, speedy repair. Highly recommended. Will definitely come back to put batteries in the rest of my watches.

I am so delighted to find someone who can replace the battery in my watch. None of the jewelry stores around here sell Philip Stein watches anymore, and I didn’t know where to go

I feel a little bit sad leaving this review but I think you should be aware that if you have a very old watch, all mechanical moving parts, high value and no battery, be prepared for a very, very, very, very, long wait. I asked Mr. Rees to inspect the watch to determine what was wrong and recommend a course to fix. After determining the problem and stating he could fix it and that it would take awhile, I agreed to leave it with him. I did follow up about once a month at first, then every two months. After about six months, I decided to pick it up unrepaired. Of course, he is very nice and upfront, but I was hoping to find someone to repair a watch locally and not sending it somewhere, who-​knows-​where, and possibly never seeing it again.

Rees provided fabulous service at a very reasonable price. We will be using his services again.

This guy is the best. Very inexpensive, fast and efficient. I’ve been to him twice and will be going back a third time. He fixed my watch and gave me a brand new battery for my key fob on my first visit. I’m sure you can imagine how much a battery would be for a key fob that does a remote start. I love this guy and may God bless him for years to come. A forever customer right here.

Thanks to these people I got 2 watches repaired and ready to wear while I waited. With GPS you can find this gentlemen very easily.

As many other reviewers have noted, a routine cleaning and lubrication of a mechanical watch can take many weeks. I brought my Hamilton 992B railroad grade pocket watch in to be repaired; it took many weeks with me being advised to call back next week many times. Finally it was ready. It worked for a few weeks then the mainspring let go. After the length of time it took to do the original repair I was in no mood to bring it in again. While the 992B was working I brought in a second watch which I finally gave up on; I came and asked to have it back. The result: Nice person to talk with, no watches fixed here. Also, he did not have a working vibrograph.

This gentleman is a shining example of why you should support your local small businesses. I had two watches that needed the battery replaced. Based on reviews and the close proximity of my work, I went on my lunch break. It took maybe 10 minutes and was under $ 15.00. I had looked at some other places that were 3x’s plus. I will definitely be visiting Mr. Rees again and referring anyone I know who needs watch repair.

Of course, I’ll be coming back!
Mr. Rees replaced the mineral crystal on my Wenger Aerograph and I could not be any happier. How fast? I dropped the watch Saturday morning and he was calling me Monday morning saying the watch ready. How much? It was very affordable and you’ll be so pleased of helping a hard working man right on your ‘hood.

No words for how awesome Rees is. I’ve already visited him 3 times and have another visit pending for a new battery replacement.
Watch adjustments, batteries, you name it.
All those other watch repair shops are for the birds.
Go see Rees. He’s sweet and just doing what he genuinely enjoys out of his home.

Based on some helpful bad Unilocal reviews on other jewelers, I went to Rees to get a battery replaced on my michelle watch. Hes an old skool guy that works out of his house. He only charged me $ 12 to replace the battery while I waited.
Had I not seen some Unilocal reviews on OTHER places, I wouldn’t have know about him.
I’m very happy to not have to leave my prized posession somewhere where it might have vanished.

I had a watch that stopped working and was pretty sure that it was a battery that needed replacing. Initially walked into a mall and was advised to check out the jewelry repair shops. But then found Rees on Unilocal.Thanks to the other reviewers and I was able to find the place quickly.
I think repair men like Mr Rees are a dying breed and wish there were more people like him in the malls of today. But guess his level of exemplary service ($ 6.50 for a battery replacement. in under 10mins) alone will not help pay the mall rent.
If you want your watch fixed quick — take it to Mr Rees. I would call before you go. If you are looking at fancier watches — I would stick with the jeweler at the mall.

So… Mr. Reese did do a great job fixing my watch, but he was SLOW — like insanely, bizarrely, sadistically slow.
My watch had stopped, and I brought it in for repair, which I was told would take «two or three weeks.» After 3 weeks, I had heard nothing so I called and was told he was running behind, and needed a week more — fair enough. So I called a week later and was told… one more week. The week following I called, and (you guessed it) «I haven’t had a chance to look at that watch yet, it’s going to be about a week…»
As the weeks went, with me calling weekly, by it all got more and more Monty Python.
Eventually I called (week 8 I believe) and he said, «well, I can fix that watch but it’s going to cost you (!!!)» Fortunately, I had calculated payment for the repair as a potential liability and told him that I was happy to pay him for the repair… He then told me that it would take about a week.
Eventually — NINETEEN (I kid you not) NINETEEN WEEKS LATER — I called and told him that I would be coming by to pick up the watch, repaired or not. He told me that we was working on it (at last), and that I could come pick it up… in a week.
In spite of my HORROR at hearing that phrase uttered in his kindly old country doctor voice, I gave it one more shot.
One week later I called and he said — «almost done, you can pick it up tomorrow (!)»
I arrived the following day and there was my long lost watch, repaired and only seventeen weeks behind.
Yeah, Mr. Rees is good at repairing watches, but (ironically) really, really bad at estimating time.
Two or three weeks meant 20 weeks, so presumably «I have to order a part from Switzerland, so it might be a couple of months» could really mean «Out of hewn stone, craft a time capsule for your great-​great-​grandson, and in it, leave my receipt, as your watch should be ready in the year 3012»
In the end, my watch works, and I have an amusing anecdote, but it was a genuinely maddening experience and I will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEEEEEVER bring another watch to Mr. Rees.
