We’ve had some recent crime in our very quiet neighborhood so I decided it would be a good idea to get some security cameras installed. I did a google search and came across this company. Their website has an option to request a «free quote» or says to call them. Three weeks ago, I called and spoke with the owner, King. He seemed nice and asked what I was looking for. I told him 4 HD cameras, dvr, ability to view from my phone, etc. He asked me for my home address so he could look it up on google and get a better idea of the outside of our house. I was reluctant, but figured if it would help get an accurate quote, then ok. He said no problem, he would get me a quote by the end of the week. The end of the week came around and I had not received a quote.
So, I sent an email reminding them about the quote. I received a phone call from a female who stated she worked for the business and she apologized for not getting the quote to me. Again, she asked me for all the same information that King did, and I gave it to her. She said he was on a big job and it might take a few days to get a quote, but he would email one to me. Ok, no problem. A week and a half later, still no quote. At this point, I should have just taken the hint and moved on because my business was obviously not important to them. But I decided to give it one more try.
For my third attempt, I used the «Request a free quote in 1 minute of your time» option on the website. I explained my two previous attempts and asked when I would be hearing from them. I received an email from King stating his business is a one man operation and he has been busy, but I could call or text him to discuss. I was at work and unable to call so I sent him a text reminding him who I was and asking if he needed any more information from me. I told him I live in Buda, which I told him the first time we spoke over the phone and it did not seem to be a problem. His response was «I’ll come see you for $ 100.» I’m not asking for you to come see me… I’m asking for the damn quote I requested three weeks ago! I asked him what happened to «free quote?» He responded, «They started costing me money.»
At this point, I decided I’m done with this dude. So I told him I’m not sure what changed between now and three weeks ago when you were going to email me a quote, but no thanks. Here’s where he showed his true colors…“The industry is on fire. Everyone is overbooked. Try ADT. There’s big money going around. No [one] wants to bother with nickels and dimes.“
Well, Mr. King, I’m sorry us common folk can’t mingle and do business with you. Sure, I don’t live in a mansion, but it’s no f’ing shack. I may not be requesting a «big money» job, but I have no problem paying for a high dollar camera system, which is exactly what I was looking for. Money was not the issue here for me. There are also a lot of other families looking for good security camera systems in my neighborhood as well. Had he cared even the slightest bit to get my business, this could have generated a pretty good amount of business for him in several neighborhoods. But apparently our business is beneath him. I will be spreading this on our neighborhood facebook page as well as neighboring communities. I’ve had a lot of bad business experiences, but it takes a lot for me to write a review like this and actually take the time to care. But the fact that he had the audacity to respond to me the way he did, shows that I need to warn people so they know what they’re getting into.
If he had been up front and said he needs to come to my house and charge $ 100 for a quote, I would have been fine with that. If he would have been honest from the beginning and said, «I don’t work on single-​family residences,» then cool, I would have moved on. However, he was not honest. I am not interested in being jerked around for weeks and then all of a sudden being told I need to pay for a quote and he doesn’t have time for my «nickel and dime» job. If you feel the same way, and have no interest in attempting to do business with an arrogant asshole, don’t even waste your time with this guy.
