Adam runs a very friendly, courteous, fun Mexitrip in the vanborghini. The accommodations in tandem with Adam’s monitoring of the quality of service made the trip very comfortable. Adam’s intimate knowledge of the climbing area, the people, and the process of getting there was excellent. Strongly recommend this trip!

This review was pending for too long now. I was always fascinated with rock climbing till I came across Rock-​About. This was my first attempt and it was a fantastic experience. Adam and his team were really good at explaining the techniques involved and demonstrating how to climb. I have enjoyed all the rocks they have set up and never did I feel intrigued. I saw people of all age groups and physiques being able to climb, so if you have any reservations about being able to climb, set them aside and just have the fun. I would definitely do it again.

This is a fantastic climbing outfit. I’ve worked as a guide and been a climber a long time, and there’s no one I’d recommend more highly than Adam and his crew of guides. Highly competent, knowledgeable, safe, fun.

This adventure was well worth the money and an absolute blast! I’ve climbed before when I was much younger so it had been a while and Adam did a fabulous job making sure I was comfortable and safe. He also did a fabulous job encouraging me as it was rather difficult. I can’t wait to go back and would recommend this to anyone!

This was by far one of our all time favorite day-​camp experiences. Adam is a true climbing professional who is passionate about sharing his love for the sport and teaching REAL skills to kids who want to learn. The kids got to experience parts of Austin and the Hill Country (Enchanted Rock!) in ways they’d never done before in small groups with one-​on-​one attention. They came home excited and exhausted every day — and that’s impressive for two boys 10 and 12 yrs old who are used to years of sleep away camp and adventure travel. We’re already looking forward to next year!

I took my 11 year old daughter and her friend for a weekend of climbing at Enchanted Rock and Reimer’s. It was an amazing adventure. Mike Klein was our guide and he is an awesome guide, both extremely knowledgeable as well as very patient as the girls were learning. I would definitely do it again and recommend Rock-​About.

My 13 year old son had a great time during one of the weeklong summer camps. They went to different places to climb, so every day was a new experience.

Last Sunday, my 16 year old son and I spent the day with Adam from Rock-​About. We’ve both had minimal experience at indoor rock gyms and have enjoyed hiking in Central and West Texas and in Colorado. I wanted to take our outdoor adventures to another level and Rock-​About was just what we need to get started. Adam is super personable and made learning the ropes (sorry for the pun) very enjoyable. The mix of instruction and demonstration had us moving up the cliffs along the Barton Creek Greenbelt in no time.
We were stepping out of our comfort zone but safety was always a priority. Adam helped us to learn good climbing habits from the beggining. We are looking forward to taking Rock-About’s advanced sport climbing class.
Oh, and don’t forget Macy the trail dog! She’s a great pup.

My girlfriend and I did two full days of private instruction on trad-​leading and anchors with Rock About. Our guide, Adam, was very knowledgeable, safe, professional, and tailored the course to our specific needs. After the two days of instruction my girlfriend and I felt more than qualified to lead trad routes on our own, set up anchors, and even practice multi-​pitch techniques safely. I would definitely recommend this guide service to anyone who’s looking for an AMGA certified instructor with years of experience & know-​how to share.

I have been to the Enchanted Rock and Reimers Ranch locations and really enjoyed my self. The kids loved it and so I highly rec as a familly activity and plan on dong some corporate team building with my Business. Top notch instructors, and unique, healthy outdoor adventure! Highly rec!

Fantastic day at Reimer’s Ranch for my first day of climbing! I highly recommend Rock-​About. We had several levels of climbers and I felt informed and coached when needed. Even though there was a larger group, there was several climbs set-​up and I never had to wait longer than one climber. Great humor and fun the whole time. Can’t wait for my next adventure. I’m hooked!

My wife and I have been rock climbing a couple of times in NY and decided when we moved to Austin to finally pick it up as a sport. We went climbing with Adam and we had such an amazing time! He was incredibly knowledgeable and had great advice. We already scheduled another trip with them to learn Trad climbing skills. I would highly recommend Rock-​about to anyone who wants to give rock climbing a try or even for experienced climbers looking to reinforce their skills.

My family and I took the basic rock climbing course at Reimers Ranch with Scotty, Jacob and Tyler as guides. There was a pretty large group in the class, but the guides took the time to explain everything to us before we started, and then had time to work with everyone individually throughout the day. They made sure we were safe and coached us along when we’d get stuck and needed help figuring out where to move to next. They were all very experienced and very helpful. It was a great experience for a bunch of first time climbers. We will definitely be back to try the more advanced classes. I would definitely recommend Rock-​About to anyone interested in trying out rock climbing.

I purchased a Groupon for Rock-About’s Beginner Climbing class and loved it. I felt like it covered a range of levels and experiences. Although I’ve done some indoor climbing, this was my first time climbing outside and it was a very smooth transition. Carlos, Scotty, and Tyler were great about ensuring that everyone knew safety procedures and protocol, and they managed to make learning the ropes interesting and entertaining. Once everyone felt comfortable and confident, we headed to the climbs. Although we had a pretty good amount of people in our group, I never felt like I was waiting too long for a climb and I always knew that a guide was nearby if I got in a snag.
The guides are truly the heart of the company, they seem to really enjoy seeing people succeed. All guys seemed to know when to give advice and tips and when to back off and let the climber take on a challenge. Carlos was great about chalking out routes and encouraging us to the top of each climb. Scotty had a good approach to leading safety explanations, I felt confident that he would know what to do if anyone had an accident. Tyler had an enormous amount of good information on local outdoor climbing and hiking, it’s easy to tell that he was doing something he was passionate about. For all of the guides, they gave the impression that there was nothing they would rather be doing than spending the day at Reimer’s Ranch with a group of new climbers.
This class was perfect for anyone, of any age, looking to spend a fun day in the sunshine, challenging themselves, and learning more about outdoor climbing. I went with friends but would’ve been fine flying solo too. One of the guides mentioned that in the summer, they make time to jump in the river– can’t complain about that! I heard so many people asking questions and looking for more info on how to continue climbing on a regular basis. For me, that was the ultimate sign that the class was successful. I can’t wait to find more outdoor climbs and will definitely plan on going with Rock-​About again!

My kids just returned from an adventure with Rock About at Reimers Ranch. Since they were kids my husband accompanied them. The program was well run. The instruction was good. There was plenty of opportunity for all to climb as much as they wanted. The guides were patient. My only wish is that the website was easier to use in trying to figure out when adventures are run. My family would love to go again!

I have climbed with Adam and Rock About twice. The first time was back in January (2012) at Enchanted Rock through one of his groupon promotions. It was a great trip. The scenery was gorgeous, and while the weather was a little chilly in the morning, it warmed up nicely in the afternoon.
There were about 7 of us there for the groupon, and a large group a boy scouts that Rock-​About was also taking on for the day. They did a good job keeping us separated, so we didn’t have to deal with the noise and everything else that goes along with a group of 20 obnoxious (sorry parents) kids.
Adam and his guiding staff were extremely professional. For all of us there for the groupon it was our first time climbing outside, and we went through a comprehensive belay/​safety instruction in the morning. There was plenty of time for actual climbing, too. The staff had set up top-​ropes on several routes, and after the ~40 minute hike to the climbing area, we got to it. The routes were of appropriate difficulty for beginners, and the one wall we were on kept us occupied the whole day, and we each got in 4 – 5 routes. The guides were always on hand to supervise and give us help when we needed it. I had a fantastic time, and was immediately addicted to the solitude and focus involved in climbing outside.
The second time I climbed with Adam was at Reimers Ranch two months later. My brother was in town visiting, and we had decided we wanted to get more serious about climbing, so we asked Adam to show us how to improve. This session was much more technically focused than the groupon one. The day was spent on slightly more difficult climbs, and Adam was great about giving us pointers and tips. He also taught us how to rappel. I’d definitely recommend Rock-About’s guiding service to anyone looking to get into climbing, or just wanting to spend a great day outdoors doing something fun and exciting! It was a big help to me and my brother and I; we progressed very fast, and have been climbing and leading outside independently for ~6 months now.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Austin for the first time last March and among food trucks, music venues and bar hopping downtown we wanted something unique to round out our visit… enter Rock-​About. Neither of us had ever climbed before (save for a trip with girl-​scouts at age 10) so we were a little anxious to start with an all day outdoor excursion. Luckily we had an amazing instructor ‘Bird Dog’ who took us through safety training, led us up Enchanted rock with his comedic relief and had an incredible day of climbing in the sun.
We opted for 101 Basic Rock Climbing which was perfect — there are 5 – 6 different rocks to climb depending on where you end up on the dome, all with varying levels of difficulty from easy to moderate. I really like to push myself physically and ended up with the moderate climbs which were perfect for my first day and felt like I got the most out of it.
I strongly recommend this to locals and visitors alike — it’s an incredible experience (even if you’re not the most outdoorsy/​adventurous type) you will not be disappointed.

Adam, the owner, was very helpful prior to my husband and I’s rock climbing adventure. He answered all of my questions, even the ‘silly’ ones.
Tyler, our guide/​leader/​motivator, was stupendous! He taught us how to do it all, and was a very good teacher. He helped us up the rock, giving his guidance and motivation — even during my stubbornness and frustration. lol
Overall, it was an awesome adventure. One that I KNOW my husband and I will do again. :)

We experienced an INCREDIBLE rock climbing class on Saturday out at Enchanted Rock! We NEVER thought that we’d get to do such RAD climbing as beginners, but Rock-About’s spot-​on teaching and coaching took us to new heights — literally! We loved every bit of the class and the challenges it presented. We also liked the fact that our instructor, Adam, took the time to explain everything in detail, especially the safety aspects of climbing.
Before we took this class we were thinking that we’d rock climb once to check it out, but didn’t think we’d be interested enough to spend more time/​money on it, but after our class with Rock-​About we are confident we will do it again.

I had a blast in Basic Climbing at Reimer’s Ranch. Because it was August, I expected the worst in terms of heat, but we climbed a well-​shaded wall that didn’t get hot until we were getting tired. The instructors were great, the time we spent learning what to do was well planned and clear, and we were able to get out there and climb very quickly. The instructors were very helpful once we were out on the rocks. I never felt «like a girl,» in fact, I felt like we all kicked ass, young and old, men and women alike. A lot of that, I think, had to do with having great guides. Can’t wait to go again!
