Over two years ago, I worked with Rock Solid on the staining of a fraternity floor. Why wait so long to review them? I wanted to give the floor of their new«pavilion» a long enough time to endure basketball games, beer, parties, beer, foam parties, beer, dancing and, did I mention beer? I was not surprised to see some wear to the floor stain. Our design team realized going in that the fraternity would need to apply a new stain every two or three years. It is a basketball court aka: party room. You get my drift. Imagine hosting a party for 300 or 400 college students every weekend. Working with Rock Solid was a dream. They are professional, reliable and provided us with color samples on site over and over until we found the perfect match to all the interior finishes. Most of their work is commercial but I have known them to also work with residential clients.

My husband and I have been remodeling a house for the past 6 months, and we decided on stained concrete floors for the entryway, dining area, living room, and kitchen. After speaking with and emailing multiple contractors, I determined that Rock Solid seemed the most reliable and cost effective choice. Rob Case, the owner, spoke to me directly on many occasions and was willing to answer all my questions about the cost, processes, color, and just what to expect from a decorative concrete floor. Since much of his work is commercial, I was actually able to see his references instead of just talking to his clients on the phone. This definitely increased my confidence in his quality of work. Since we had a remodel job and were dealing with the aftermath of foundation repair, Rob(and all the other contractors I had communicated with) recommended we go with an overlay, which we would then color with a polymer stain. The overlay covered inconsistencies and damage in the slab, and the polymer stain gave us much more control of our colors. The process worked perfectly. The floor looks exactly as I had hoped, and it only took about 4 days. The cost was less than if we’d done tile ourselves, and this flooring is more of a permanent, environmentally friendly solution. There’s basically no manufacturing pollution, it shouldn’t wear out, and it won’t need to be disposed of later like carpet, linoleum, or laminate might. The only reason I’m going with 4 stars instead of 5 is for the quality control during the staining process. I came home when they were«done» and noticed that the border around the bar and fireplace was not sharp like it was int he rest of the room. I called Fredo(the English speaking foreman who had been on site) and let him know my concerns, so he was back to the house in about 15 minutes. He explained that the wind had been blowing so they hadn’t sprayed as sharp of a line there. He indicated he could fix it. Well, that was a relief, and he did fix it the next day, but seriously, if you knew it was flawed, why would you just leave like you were finished? I shouldn’t have to request that something be done correctly; correct should be the default. Nevertheless, my floor looks awesome, and I’d definitely recommend this company. They have competitive prices; they communicate well; they show up when they say they will; and they do quality work. Just make sure you speak up if things aren’t going as you’d like.
