if you want anything other than exactly what you’d expect from a taco truck(in what used to be the hood), go elsewhere, asap. food is good taco truck food… that’s it. nothing more, nothing less. pay inside if you’re paying with a card, cash only outside.

It’s a damn shame that nobody reads random taco truck Unilocal reviews. Let me be clear, this place Sucks. I only dish out hate when it’s called for, and this place truly sucks. I’ve ate here about 7 – 8 times, primarily out of laziness because I’d have to cross manor road to eat at the taco truck across the street. I also by far prefer the shell station right next to this truck over the gulf station across the street anyways. So the only reason I’ve really continued to get food from this place is out 100% pure convenience. I’ll give this place some credit though, 3 out of 7 – 8 times I’ve been here it’s been delicious. That’s still a poor ratio. I probably would still continue to give this place a shot if the pudgy taco lady tonight had been more professional. One can only expect so much professionalism out of a taco truck lady, but tonight I waited for nearly 2 minutes before she acknowledged me because she was on the phone. She then opened the window and started wiping her nose WHILE making eye contact with me. It was ridiculous. She continued to stay on the phone, and was half listening while I made my order. She asked me like 3 times what I ordered while she continued her phone convo. I used to run a full service restaurant and behavior like this just disgusts me. I would fire someone over one of those things mentioned above. Did she wash her hands after getting snot on them? Hell no. The quality has always been pretty subpar, but I feel like the several interactions I’ve had with this lady in particular… she just doesn’t give a f***. I’m pretty sure there are 2 other employees and with one of them it’s typically the same story. I refuse to come back to this truck after tonight because I’m not going to play games and only come whenever this lady isn’t working, I’m not keeping tabs on taco ladies. Taqueria mi trailita across the street has been Awesome every time I’ve been, it’s more sanitary, and they actually make their tortillas, unlike this place that claims to. The customer service has always been spot on too. Very warm. I’m pretty sure the guys who own/run the shell own/run this taco truck. They run a good store and I’m sure they care about this truck so hopefully there will be some changes. This place is unsanitary. I’m considering calling the health department. Unless you love habaneros, stay away from the salsa too. It’s always been extremely way too spicy. I love spicy foods too. To rewind a second though, what really set me off was her wiping and picking her nose in front of me, while making eye contact… it was seriously like she was looking at me and non verbally telling me that she couldn’t give a f***. Wow. P. s. …NOBODY ever gets fried chicken here. This place should be called Sams shitty tacos…

Long overdue for taco truck stalking, I drove late one night in search of Tacos La Reina — a truck noted for handmade tortillas and tasty meats. Unfortunately, I missed my chance at La Reina, and had to settle for her replacement, Sam’s Fried Chicken(and tacos!). I was confronted by a dilemma: Get fried chicken or tacos? I, of course, asked for a fried chicken taco. But the lady wasn’t having any of that, so I had to go with traditional tacos. When I asked if the tortillas are handmade, she offered me a choice: If you want it fast, you get something out of a package; If you can wait, it’ll be handmade. Quality over speed, all night long. These handmade corn tortillas are definitely worth the wait. Check out my photo and appreciate their quality. They’re pillowy and delicate, made by expert hands for sure. And the lengua was as flavorful as can be, verging on barbacoa territory. The strength of the tongue is in its tenderness. The carnitas made me smile in gratitude for all the lone taco trucks out there waiting to be discovered. And I forgot about La Reina, if only for a moment.
