I somehow came across something about the Scrumptious Chef pop-up at Tamale House and it piqued my interest. It was a Wild Foods of Texas theme, featuring wild harvested meat from Broken Arrow Ranch hosted at Tamale House East. They had teamed up with Jester King to provide the beer. It started at 6 and we arrived around 7:30. Next time I will definitely arrive earlier, as they were out of all but 2 things-antelope chili and braised wild boar. Menu items they were out of included longhorn beef boudin, alligator queso, and chocolate bread pudding. Prices ranged from $ 4-$ 25. I chose the boar, served with mashed potatoes and green beans, and my companion had the chili, served frito pie style. A couple things I didn’t like, but will forgive-meal was served on paper plates and bowls, which I understand since it is a pop up after all, and food came out at separate times. We both enjoyed our meals and like to support local foods. This is definitely something I would try again!
