Secretary of State

This review is for their website for online processing of files, payments, requests and other such things. Problem is, I can’t really tell you what the website does because it is the most horrid, useless space on the Web. I was trying to file a very simple assumed name (DBA) and after nearly 2 hours of searching and reading the instructions for filing document 503 for the DBA on their site, I cannot find where to actually file the form anywhere! There is nothing clear on this site at all. What they do very well is charge you for the searches you think will lead to where you need to be, but nope, you are wrong and are now charged a fee for a search using a computer. What is the fee for exactly? Is the computer collecting a salary? After wasting time and money I will likely now print out to archaic paper form and drive to the office to file the stupid form. First I will try calling tomorrow and see if anyone can walk me through the horrible site to some resolution. Most un-​user friendly site ever made!

I came here to get apostille done my power of attorney. Everything was so smooth, I walked in, signed in, got a visitor badge, took the elevator to B-​05, sit down, fill out the credit card form, had a 5 mins conversation with Hope, roughly 10 mins later I was out of door and on my way home.
I wish every government office is efficient like that.

I’ve been to the SOS three times now, and all I can say is WOW! these folks are efficient! Seriously, even during tax time. I can’t believe they are a government agency. Taxpayers would all be so lucky if all agencies worked as quickly as the SOS in Texas.
Warning: Parking stinks and is limited, so bring coins for the meter or parking garage… just in case!

I dig crude people sometimes, but this is another story. Don’t be looking on facebook or texting, and make me dig out of you the next grunt and finger point. You can be a dick, but you need to at least be pro-​actively doing your job.

Such a tiny office… old…is the state out of money? Wait no this is supposed to be the charming historic look! Anyway the staff upfront is interestingly detached from the folks walking in there. I know you hate your job, but thank you for making it painfully obvious and shoving it in my face yo!
They made a bunch of mistakes on our LLC papers, set us back a week but after many trips to their office they fixed it. These 3 stars are to remind you that we pay out taxes, you have a good job and job security but if you piss enough people off… that may change.
