Dr. Stefano is an excellent doctor, if I were reviewing her, I’d give her a four or a five star. The Seton Topfer Community Health Clinic on the other hand needs some improvement. I came from the Seton Quarry Lake Hospital, and the staff there are very professional and made you feel taken care of, which is important when you are sick. The staff at Seton Topfer can act like you are bothering them or are a little bit suspect, and they aren’t as good with your records as at Seton Quarry Lake, so you end up having to do some of their job for them. I don’t know what the difference between a community clinic and a hospital is, and I know that this is in a lower income neighborhood than Quarry Lake, but that shouldn’t impact whether or not you are treated with respect. Also there was a dead cockroach in the lighting panel. Ewww.

I’m actually not entirely sure how to review a community clinic on Unilocal… Sometimes it’s difficult to think about a medical facility as a business, but more and more of them are clearly being run as businesses, so I might as well! How’s about I just tell you about my experience? Yeah, that sounds good: P So, Obamacare. Also, freckles that are not the right color. Therefore, clinic. I called to make an appointment and also to answer a few questions about how to navigate the world of copays and referrals. The friendly lady on the phone was patient(ha! get it?) and forthcoming; she told me how it was going to work. She told me to arrive about 30 minutes before my actual appointment time so that I could fill out paperwork. I was only 15 minutes early, but was still seen within 5 minutes of my «appointment time.» That’s actually pretty impressive now that I’m thinking about it. The physician’s assistant saw me and answered all of my questions, took my vitals, examined a couple of my freckles and moles, and then left to prepare a specialist’s referral. I was then led to a referral coordinator person’s office to complete the process, but she wasn’t in. I was told that she was to lunch and that I should expect a phone call with more information. Sounded good to me. I’m writing this review exactly one week after my visit and I still have not received that phone call. After three days, I called and left a voicemail with all of the info that they ask for on the answering machine. Still nothing. So the process is stalled at this step currently. And that concludes my story; I hope it’s helpful ;)
