Raven did my hair and makeup for my wedding and she is AMAZING.
First of all, my hair and make up looked gorgeous and was exactly what I wanted even though I didn’t actually know what it was that I wanted and my description was really vague. Secondly, IT STAYED PUT. All day. All freaking day. That has never happened to me in the history of ever. My hair and make up both look awesome in ALL of my pictures, even the ones later in the reception — it was absolutely amazing.
Raven also did hair for my mother and mother-​in-​law who both love the way their hair turned out. I’m looking through the photos from the wedding and its just amazing how good their hair looks from all angles. She also did makeup for my sister who never wears make up and she looked absolutely radiant.
I love working with Raven — she is truly an artist. Her work shows real inspiration and talent. She is extremely impressive.

Katherine is great with curly hair — she does a great job working with me to get the look I want and provides advice and a creative eye in finding the best style. She has done hair and make up for wedding parties for us and it is always fantastic.

I won a gift card to Sirens Salon at a silent action earlier this year. I called to make an appointment at the salon but unfortunately they couldn’t book me with anyone for 30 days. The receptionist was clear to point out that the service was «complimentary.» I was by no means complimentary. I made a substantial donation in exchange for and in excess of the value of services for this gift card. Quite dismissive of a potential new client.

I see Lauren Black for ALL my styling needs — cuts, color, waxing and even blow outs/​make up for special events — and am amazed at her work every time! She’s gotten my hair in the best condition it’s ever been and I couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend making an appointment today!

This place is great! It’s a very cute salon, as soon as I walked in I felt right at home. I was warmly welcomed, offered a beverage then had a seat on the cute cozy couch. It’s not pretentious, like a lot of salons in this area can be, it’s warm and inviting.
Not only is the salon itself awesome but the stylists are great as well. I had my haircut by the amazing Lauren. I have very fine, limp, damaged and difficult hair. But after leaving the salon it looked and felt amazing! It has movement and body, even after being out in the rain it still looked pretty good! I’ll definitely be back!

My previous review was taken down but I seriously implore you to avoid this place! I spent hundreds of dollars on an ombré that was sub par and nothing like the picture I showed them. When I went back to have my hair fixed, as I spent around $ 250 total, she fried my hair beyond belief overcompensating this time. Clearly she is blind because I had a photograph and I wasn’t going for ridiculous fried blonde next to a starkly darker brown with no transition. My hair is still not 100% better and she really damaged it. I called to speak to a manager and was issued no refund and although I was promised a call back I guess I wasn’t important enough to contact because they ignored me, took down my review and acted like I didn’t exist.
DO NOT GO HERE!

I love Sirens! I have been getting my hair cut and colored by Robin for around two and a half years (before she started at Sirens, actually). She’s fantastic! I’ve been growing my hair out and adding blonde, and her technique and care for my hair are excellent. My color is added in such a way that if I can’t come back to the salon every six weeks, I don’t look like a mess! She has been a hairstylist for years, and you can really tell. My layers can grow out a bit, and I don’t get any weird bulk to my cut or «triangle-​head.» For being long, colored hair, it’s very low-​maintenence, which I really appreciate.
I also trust her ideas with my hair. Sometimes when I go in, I’m not 100% sure if I want to keep the blonde, how much I need to take off on the bottom, or if I want to try something different. She’s always honest with me about what would look good and is able to give good suggestions while respecting my wishes (I’m trying to grow my hair out, and some stylists really like to «chop»).
The salon itself is decorated nicely and is very open and spacious. It’s clean and more modern-​looking than some places. The location is also great — right in the middle of the city, but still on a quiet street. I’ve never worked with any of the other stylists, but whenever I’m in the salon they all seem very professional, knowledgeable, and personable! All in all, a great experience, and I always leave feeling like I look fantastic. Also — I feel like Robin’s prices are very reasonable, given what I currently get done to my hair (FULL head of blonde highlights and a cut that, even when just a «trim,» takes some time as I have a LOT of hair on my head). All in all, Sirens definitely deserves five full stars.

I love visiting Sirens Salon whenever I am in town. Karla is incredibly funny and personable! She cuts and does color like no other. In the past she’s simply cut [layers] and a blow out — which always looks amazing. The curls she blows in have lasted me THREE days [I have very thick hair that doesn’t need to be washed every day — don’t judge me!]. Recently I asked her for some color and she gave me the most beautiful ombré. Worth every penny. Karla is my fave.
The salon is in an old house and is pretty small — which I love. It creates a very at-​home atmosphere. Everyone I have interacted with has been super nice and makes sure I am comfortable.

This is an amazing place! The salon is super professional. It’s clean, organized, prompt, friendly (even making my appointment was great!). Robin did a fantastic job on my hair. I love it. I’d recommend this place and Robin (although I’m sure the others do a great job on hair, too) to anyone. I’m so glad I found you! Thank you for making me look beautiful.

After trying a few salons in town and leaving dissatisfied, i finally settled on Sirens Salon, now 3 years ago. Karla cuts AND colors my hair and i get so many compliments on my hair! i love it! Sometimes i think i just can’t communicate what i want when it comes to hair because i know nothing about hair, but Karla is always patient with me and strives to make it work. And yes, the hand massage while under the dryers is lovely. Plus she’s fun to talk to! :) Also, Susan (makes appointments, answers phone, etc) is super sweet; well, all the girls there are sweet and never snobby or rude. I think everyone that works there has fun; plus i recently attended a party they had at the Salon – fun! Hope to go to more soirée’s there in the future! ;) ALSO, the Unite products they use are yummy haha

I have been going to this salon for a couple years now. I came in as a walk-​in when Electra was still open. Lauren Hoy took me right in and gave me the best haircut I have ever had. Lauren is simply amazing. She listens to what you want and also gives awesome suggestions. She now also sees my sister and mother. The atmosphere of the salon is welcoming and you don’t feel out of place. It almost feels like home — a place to relax, unwind, and enjoy your next new look. I love this place!

Robin cut/​colored my hair and was fabulous! I’ve had some bad hair cuts and colors so I have became very picky on where I go. I just moved down to austin and I was referred to her by a friend. I’m so excited to have a new hair stylist here that I absolutely love! I went with a completely new hair style and she gave me exactly what I wanted and better! Can’t go wrong by going to siren salon and seeing Robin. She’s even very sweet :)

I’m pretty sure I got my hair cut here about five years ago-​which is also the last time I got my hair cut by someone who wasn’t me, in my bathroom, with a dull pair of sewing scissors, in the middle of the day, half naked.
I remember they washed my hair, and the girl was talking about Iron & Wine, and I kept going ‘Uh huh. Oh. Yeah. Right. Uh huh. What? No, I totally don’t cut my own hair. That’s just how it grows. Yeah. Uh huh.“
Come to think of it, I’m not sure why I would go get my hair cut at a salon. That sounds like the most unsettling, invasive, traumatizing thing ever. I’ll never do that again. Even though I don’t actually remember it being all that bad.
And I liked what she did to my hair.
But god. Never again. I am the sort of person who gets nervous about telling the burrito girl what I want at Chipotle.
Also, I learned this week that shampoo is basically evil, and makes your hair fall out.
So stop using shampoo. I did.

I had a great first experience at Sirens. It’s cute and it’s friendly, but there are two things of note:
1. Robin. She is a fantastic colorist and all-​around nice gal. I have never had such a comprehensive consultation. She took the time to give me a color that would cover my gray, highlight my curls, and minimize damage to my ends. Truly perfection.
2. There was a lot of great hair walking out of that place. I saw an updo, a senior style, a short cut, a long cut, ombré… a lot of range. Everyone looked great. To me, that’s exceptional.
Being between salons/​stylists for over a year now I’m glad I found my new home!

Lauren Hoy has been doing my hair for years and to be 100% honest, I have NEVER been disappointed. She knows exactly what I want, especially when I want to «keep my length». She even explains to me how to blow dry and style my hair at home, so I know how to recreate the look!
When I’m put under the dryer she gives me a hand massage and I always get offered champagne or coffee.
Everyone at Sirens is friendly, and I really appreciate that they call me the day before my appointment to remind me! I HIGHLY recommend this salon to everyone!

I would never go anywhere else! I’ve been going to Sirens since I moved to Austin in 2009. I found them by asking a ramdom stranger where she got her hair done because it looked really nice, the cut, color and everything about it, I just couldn’t pass her up. Especially since I come from California and my entire family is in the beauty industry. My family calls me miss picky pants, because I am so particular about the way my hair is done. Remember this is an everyday accessory… and you want it complementing you and saying something about your personality. So upon coming there, I had a few pictures of hair color, styles, and cut I wanted. Lauren Hoy was my stylist, and from looking at what I wanted and my hair texture and face shape, she just knew exactly what would look right on me. It turned out even better than I imagined it to be. I was hooked and they’ve never let me down since! Lauren makes notes on what dyes my hair does well/​not well with, what products work well/​not well with my hair, and really gives me a custom experience every time.
All the ladies are so nice and every single person that has walked out of there from and stylists seats look fabulous!
Also the owner really knows how to treat her clients and maintain a beautiful salon! I feel welcome like it’s my home… they greet you genuinely, with a complimentary drink, and really focus on what your wants are. They will not let you leave unsatisfied, so if you are looking for a reliable stylist you can call your own and never let you down, go to Sirens!

I hate to write a bad review for a business or person who really tries hard to please. But, I rely on Unilocal for honest direction to excellent places and services, so I can’t keep silent about my experiences at Sirens.
I had a very good haircut several months ago from Karla. So, I returned and had her do a cut and a color. The cut was very good and she listened to me when I told her what I wanted.
However, the color was far too dark. I called immediately when I got home and very gingerly explained that I just didn’t like the color… that it was too dark for me. She replied that she stood by her work and it looked great. I then spoke with the manager, who told me there was nothing she could do to help me. She suggested shampooing 9 or 10 times with a clarifying shampoo, but there was nothing else that could be done.
That weekend, I went to a family reunion, and my aunts, like aunts can be, all told me that my hair was too dark. (Nothing like family to tell it like it is!) But, still there was nothing I could do.
Finally, when my roots had grown out, I went to another salon and had the color corrected — of course, at my own cost — and now I think the color is perfect. (Don’t know about the aunts — will have to wait until next year’s reunion!)
Wanting to not leave Karla on a bad note, I went back last week for a haircut. We had a nice conversation and we just didn’t mention the color incident. As I said, I really liked her and the two previous cuts.
Unfortunately, it’s not a good haircut. Have you ever spent days with manicure scissors trimming off pieces that were randomly sticking out? I finally evened out my bangs and have equalled up the two sides on the length.
I am just so disappointed because I liked Karla and liked the other personnel at the salon. It was easy to get to and had good parking. But because of my last experience trying to get something corrected, I know it’s not worth my time to call.
Off to somewhere new…

I usually have poor experiences at new salons when I move, but this was the exception. My first salon experience in Austin and I was really happy with the cut and service. Karla cut my hair perfectly. I’m usually not a fan of chatty hairdressers, but Karla was nice to talk and listen to. I didn’t feel like she was preoccupied with something else and not paying attention to my hair, which happens way too many times at hairdressers these days!
They also use sulfate and paraben free hair care, which is a great bonus for me. Even gave me a free sample without me asking for one! The price was pretty reasonable too.
Oh, I also got an amazing massage while having my hair cleaned! I think it was from a newer staff member. Definitely will be returning to Sirens!
EDIT — I’m taking off a star because the people who answer the phone are always rude. I tried to get an appointment on a Tuesday, but was told they close early that day, even though it says they are open until 7 on their website. If they got some better receptionists the customer service here would be better.

I used to see a stylist at Electra, and then Electra and Sirens Salon merged. I planned to follow my stylist there, but two days before my appointment, the owner of the salon called to say she’d gotten hired out in California and would no longer be available. Since I’d planned to go to Sirens anyway, I rescheduled with someone else at their salon.
I arrive in time for my 5:30 appointment, and I have to wait 25 minutes before I get anywhere near a salon chair. I realize that sometimes people run behind schedule, and that this is a very popular salon, but I made an appointment for 5:30 — not 6. Definitely not the way to start things off with a brand-​new client.
My stylist was friendly and helpful, and gave me a cute style after my cut and color. But then, when I showered and my hair was hanging normally, I discovered three areas of hair where I still have visible roots. That’s right. I paid $ 115 for a cut and color, and I still have visible roots. That’s just not acceptable.
If it had been just the lateness, I probably would give Sirens Salon a second chance. But I do not pay that much money to have roots still visible, even in small patches. If I want uneven color, I might as well pay $ 20 for a home bleach kit and do it myself.

I had my first cut with Barbara yesterday and it was fantastic! As a curly girl with very thick long hair, I am very particular about who I go to. Barbara was highly recommended to me by a friend with one of the cutest curly cuts I’ve seen. She has been going to her for 7 years.
Barbara did a free consultation with me during which we talked about possible styles and tips for easy up dos in the summer. I wanted to get my hair cut that day, but had already put in product and had styled it. She cuts hair dry in the Deva Curl method and so it is best to come in with unstyled dry hair in order to see where the curls fall. She did me a huge favor by washing my hair allowing me to come back later that afternoon with dry hair for the cut.
I have gotten nothing but compliments today! I would highly recommend her to people with curly hair!
