Six has a nice rooftop bar overlooking Austin’s city skyline. Service was really good but the cocktails were really watered down. Great music with plenty of room to dance. Definitely worth stopping in!

Ignored by FIVE bartenders upstairs… all looked like they were pretending to be busy doing something better than tending bar. Finally was able to order my drink, but wasn’t anything spectacular. The good part about this place was the view from the rooftop. :) Lauren approached the table and delivered GREAT service… too bad her peers weren’t as awesome.

I want to start off that I have worked in this industry one thing I took pride in and still do is cleanliness/hygine, last week me and my gf went there for a drink it was a beautiful night the upstairs patio was open they had a nice lady performing it was very laid back no big crowds. We sat and immedetly waited on he was a very attentive bar teander no complaints about service, but here is my issue as we are sitting the bar tender is standing about 5 feet away looking out over 5th street he preceeds to snort snotts out of his nose and hocks a few flem wads out onto the street below after that he walks back to the bar wiping his nose with his fingers and makes a drink for a dude then he uses his bar towel to finish cleaning his nose and continues to use the towel I waited to see him wash his hands I could see him very clear he never washed his hands. To say the least I was completely grossed out I had already finished my GT at that point I got a little sick to my stomach, it wasn’t busy there were bathrooms right there at the least go to the bathroom or wash your hands if he had washed his hand properly I wouldn’t have cared much. The three stars I’m giving is for the establishment itself I never had any problems here I like this bar, as a customer I would like manegment to know it might be time to retrain your people on hygine etiquette it’s important to your buisness and to the bar tenders. I will be back bc I really do enjoy this bar.

Came here with a girlfriend from class to check out the Austin nightlife. We started at The Elephant Room since we were looking for a relaxing atmosphere to just hang out in. After finding out that it wasn’t quite our kind if place(smelled old, musty and the décor was icky) we Unilocaled around for another place and actually was headed to Hangar Lounge when we saw that this place was way less packed. We were lured in with Beyonce but once we got in, it was mostly 80’s music… but we decided to make the most of it and just start people watching; after all there was no cover and we had comfy couches to sit on without having to pay for bottle service. As the night progressed the music got better… this place may be hit or miss for music but I think the rooftop bar and free couches make up for it.

I enjoyed myself at the Six Lounge, The music was fun. I liked that they had a few levels to choose from. They also have the tap room next door as well. Donna Alvarez is one of my favorite bar tenders. She is on it, and fun to talk with! The staff in general is great!

This place has an awesome rooftop bar! Great view and wonderful if the weather is nice. They also have a great happy hour and prices were very reasonable. I had to go to the bar to order new drinks, but I’ve been in the industry and that doesn’t bother me. However, opening and closing my tab every single time I ordered a drink during happy hour was a bit frustrating. They have live music(at least they did on this particular Friday) and if I was into rockabilly country, that would totally be a pro. Regardless, I was able to have a nice conversation with my friend and enjoy a great view with cold drinks. Great experience!

Still cool even when packed. Great music and enough space to dance. Waitresses were helpful and bartenders were quick. Even with the fight that broke out, the bouncers and i assumed the manager had it pretty much in control quickly.

This bar is variable from fantastically fun nights on the rooftop to not so many people inside at all. Lance Armstrong is involved in this operation and I’ve been to parties here when he and other celebrities are out enjoying themselves. I can’t say I’ve ever had the exact same experience here even after many visits so I guess that makes it always interesting. You won’t know if it will be a good night or not here until you visit so you might want to put it on your rotation to check out. This bar does seem to have an above average number of cougars on the hunt in a very serious way.

Six Lounge. Cool joint. Early(9PM) on a Friday — looking for a place outside of the nutso 6th Street, and stumbled upon this place. Cool interior — but headed right up to the rooftop bar. Sat for 3 hours and watched Jonny Grey play a set — great singer. Atmosphere was good, except towards the end with it getting pretty busy. Our waitress was attentive and speedy with our drinks. A little pricey, but if you wanted cheap, go to 6th Street. Overall, not a bad joint. We’ll be back.

Worst bar I’ve ever been to. Expensive/uninspired drinks, rude management. Great place for those who used to regular Spaghetti Warehouse.

It’s been a while since I’ve been downtown for any particular reason. Although I live pretty close, I usually find myself clinging to the East Side. This past Saturday was an exception though, and I found myself walking into Six Lounge. After thinking that it would actually be on Sixth street(why else would it be called«six») my wife and I strolled down to fourth street and walked in. Very lounge-y place, which is right up my alley. The downstairs bar was nice, and the décor was done very well, but the rooftop is where the action was. And this is where I found myself for the next few hours. A great view of downtown Austin, and plenty of heaters to keep you warm on a chilly night. Drink prices were decent for being downtown, and all the bartenders were very helpful. I’ll certainly find myself coming back here.

Perfect bar if you are a thug and a poser. CAUTION! This bar draws a sketchy clientele. We started on the bottom level and then made our way to the middle level and eventually the rooftop bar. Music was WAY too loud throughout all parts of the bar. Experienced the low class macho dudes on the rooftop level. Overall — there are much better options in Austin. I recommend you avoid this establishment. Hopefully the owners will take the necessary steps to create a less threatening environment.

Douchey rooftop scene, whatevs. I would have given this place 3 stars BUT… I only bought two drinks on special($ 6 total), and the bartender told me not to worry about it since they have a $ 10 minimum. Thanks! I said, and gave her a big tip. So nice right? The next time I checked my bank statement I notice a $ 25 charge from this place. What? Not only did they run my card unauthorized, with no signature, but they also charged me for way more than $ 6, or even $ 10. So I call them and get their customer service person’s voicemail and leave a message asking for my money back. No response yet, several days later, and nothing to help me rest assured that this place isn’t hoarding credit card numbers. Instead, I check my bank statement later and the $ 25 charge has been reduced to $ 8.50. What??? Where did that come from? Why are these people charging arbitrary amounts to my check card? How are they able to do this? Please, if anyone can hear me, please stop doing what you wish with my money. It pisses me off. Even better, call me and apologize. I don’t trust this place and won’t ever be back.

I only go here when Dej M. makes me. Thanks, Dej M., for not making me go in over a year! xoxo! I remember the last time I was here. I dropped my Zack Morris phone there(my fault) and completely lost it in .01 second. No one cared to help me look for it. HOWDARETHEY?! Yeah, I know it was my fault. It was just the cherry on top of my hatred for this place. Yeah, hate is a strong word. I just said it. Why bother having a DJ if there is absolutely NOWHERE to dance? Nowhere to stand, sit, drink, chew gum, blink your eyes, or, oh yeah… breathe. I gave it two stars because I think the building itself and rooftop are nice. Too bad it is always too stifling inside to enjoy.

Quintessential stop. Always go to the rooftop unless you have to be downstairs due to crowds. Spent lots of time here during and post college. The patrons are more my speed. Guess what, there are outlets on along the patio railings… perfect for a SXSW recharge stop with a view…

I’m not going to lie the only time I have been to Six is to attend some of the monthly Internet Marketing Party gatherings that are held here. This is a mingling of internet marketing guru’s who are mostly in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s who come to trade tips and tricks and meet fellow marketers… and then some.(Side note: if you are a young, hot chick they would love for you to stop by as the ratio of men to women at these events is 10 to 1.) This particular event is private and Six has always managed to host a good time. The lay-out of Six is very impressive. To get inside you have to climb a long flight of stairs up to the 2nd level. There is the main bar area, an upstairs loft above this, and stairs from this loft leading up to the top floor which is an outdoor patio with a bar. This is the best thing about Six is the outdoor, upstairs patio. I would love to come back for a visit just to feel the breeze on this patio. Six is also connected to The Taproom. This will be your saving grace as Six doesn’t have great beer selection but the Taproom does. The Taproom has local Austin beers on draft. You get to it by going downstairs from the side door entrance. Six also has flat screen TV’s, food and a stage so if you want to host events it is a great place to rent out for the evening. Supposedly Lance Armstrong has some sort of ownership in this bar so I’ve heard a lot of bicyclists hang out here. I will be back someday to check out the vibe on a regular night.

For the last month I have been growing a moustache for the charity Movember. As humiliating as it has been, at least I can say that the $ 270 I raised went to a good cause(men’s cancers). Last night was the big Movember Gala Parte. I got to show off my Mo’ at Six Lounge. Unfortunately, many people thought my facial hair growing skillz were sub-par. So many that I was nominated for the«Lame Mo» and came away the winner. Yep, I can now say that I grew the lamest Mo in Austin. I grew that sucker out for 35 days. I sang to it, combed, and spread Miracle Grow on it daily and still got the«Lamest Mo» award. Probably didn’t help that my nose hair trimmers accidentally chewed up a few of the hairs on the left side of my Mo, haha. Anyways, I’ve gotten sidetracked. Six Lounge is a pretty neat bar. It’s well designed and I think you can even get food their(although I never have eaten there). The happy hour is excellent and the patio boasts one of the best views of downtown Austin. Six Lounge is apparently owned by Lance Armstrong who opened it after winning his«Sixth» Tour De France Medal(get it??). The bartenders are good and the prices are very reasonable during happy hour. The DJ is fairly phenomenal — he was playing some really good tuneskis — most of them were classic funk/hip-hop/r&b songs. People were getting pretty crazy on the dance floor during the Movember Gala Parte. The place can be a little pricey for my britches when it’s not happy hour, but regardless you should give it a shot!

Hubby: So where are we going? Me: To Six on 4th Hubby: Who’s on 4th? Me: No, Who’s on 1st. We’re going to Six on 4th… I don’t know why, but I am always surprised by how good a time I have every time I come to this bar. I don’t really think of it as a «dance club» but I always end up shakin my groove thang like a maniac! I think it’s cause the DJ is always playing my kinda music. I can’t help but drop it to «Let me clear my throat(ahem, ahem, a… a-HEM)» or get freaky with hubby to «P**** Control». I know it’s «old school» but old school schooled em on the FUNK ya’ll! I’ve always kinda just danced where I stood before but I discovered a secret last nite… those elevated areas on either side of the DJ booth have nice slippery wood flooring that’s great for sliiidin to left and sliiidin to the right or just doin a little softshoe! The barstaff is nice if inconsistent. The first bartender served my sweet tea vodka and water in a short glass, but the second served my grrl hers in a tall glass. Same price($ 6). So, I just switched bartenders. Good to pay attention! Gotta keep Six on my dance radar… or just keep stumbling in and being surprised by it!

Spent our Halloween adventure here. After last year’s wall-to-wall madness on East Sixth, our now«grown-up» host(25 instead of 24; hooray for lowered insurance!) voted for spending the night in the Warehouse District. So we went to «Sixth» after all… it just happened to be on 4th St. Like a Kenny Powers mullet(spotted right outside the bar!), Six was business in the front, party in the back. There was a long line waiting at the front entrance, where admittance was free. A friend and I saw a group paying the bouncer to get in the back exit, so we casually slipped behind them(my friends grand idea, not mine). Me: Let’s just give him a $ 20. Friend: Put that away! Bouncer: Are you with them? Me: Uhh… yes. Bouncer: Ok, go on. Friend: Sweet! Me: Super sweet! We spent the night on the rooftop bar, which is still cool. There’s an awesome shot of Frost Tower if you tilt your head high enough. Bartenders were friendly and quick to serve. The music was decent, and their best selection of the night lead to everyone hollering out«Livin’ on a Prayer» in their best drunk warbling. All in all, another successful Halloween in Austin.

People get their panties in a twist about where to dance in Austin and good vs bad bars. Here’s an easy break-down for Six. Setting: nice. You can dance downstairs, by the DJ, up on the landing, and up on the roof. I mean, if that’s your priority. The roof has a nice view and a decent-sized bar. Drinks: pretty good, though I suspect a certain waitress wants in my pants. Otherwise, why would she serve the drink ¾ vodka and sprinkle it with soda? I had to order another one to be sure, and at $ 4 each I was pretty sure. Music: it depends on the DJ. This is where people like to start crying, but all you have to do is make sure your favorite DJ is present. I know DJ Mike is going to do it right and is in attendance most Saturdays, so that’s when I go. That was easy.
