Southpark Meadows Playscape

While it’s great, it’s huge. You can easily lose your kids amongst the other. If your kids wander a lot, it’s going to be scary because it’s not fenced in, leaving your kids to disappear. It was nearly impossible for us to sit and watch our kids. We wanted to relax and eat and we couldn’t. We had to scarf our food down or leave it sitting and then go out and follow the kids around.
Tip: Eat first, away from the playground so your kids don’t flip out by seeing the slides and refuse to eat. Then, follow them around.
If they would include a fence where older kids can escape but little ones can’t, a door that shuts on its own but doesn’t hurt little fingers, this might help. Also, having seperate areas fenced off for the smaller children help so the big kids don’t knock down the babies. I tend to go to other playgrounds where I can see my kids and the big kids don’t climb all over them.

DISGUSTING GERM INFESTED PARK! EVERY time we have taken my children there within 24 – 48 hours they get very sick! We are clean people and I make my kids wash their hands before, during and after playing. Last week my son begged me to take him there to play with his baby brother so I agreed b/​c we haven’t been there in a very long time. AGAIN 24 hours later he was very sick… fever, headache, sore throat, chills, stomach pain. That was the last straw… I never write reviews but people need to know about this! NEVER will I take my children to this germ infested park ever again! I’m trying to figure out who I need to talk to so that I can tell them about this and see that this park is cleaned! I think they can afford it! This has happened SO many times and we have given this park numerous second chances… never again. Our friends kids have also gotten sick so we are not the only ones! I would highly recommend NOT letting your children play on this nasty playground. Yes it looks like a very nice and FUN playground… and it is nice and fun «LOOKING» but it’s microscopically disgusting! Thousands of kids play here and I don’t think it has ever been cleaned!

The Southpark Meadows play area is pretty entertaining for the kids, my two boys have a blast while we are there. It’s conviently located in the middle of numerous restaraunts/​bars/​food joints like Waterloo, Amy’s Ice Cream, Third Base, Jason’s, Mama Fu’s etc. It’s nice to be able to take the kids to grab ice cream and let them run off the sugar at the playground. There is one major downside and my reason for 3 stars is the mulch; or the lack there-​of. Due to rain and weather the mulch has shifted so the slide has practically a 2-​ft drop and the playground itself is at a huge slant, which is difficult for the little guys to not eat it when they’re running around. For whatever reason they designed with mulch, they should have accounted for the up-​keep which they aren’t actively participating in. It’s difficult for a toddler much less a 6 year old to get up the stairs due to the huge gap from mulch to the first step.
Another positive: check it out during the holiday season (s) there’s usually something festive going on, (meet and great with Santa) on the stage as well they have a in-​ground sprinkler for a little water fun in the scorching sun.

I do like Southpark Meadows Playscape ok. It is surrounded by restaurants like Mama Fu’s, Austin Java, Waterloo Ice house, Jason’s Deli, ect. I think this is my favourite part thought. It is nice to be able to have lunch and then let the kids play. There is a toddler part of the playscape and a bigger kid side that is nice for all ages. But, what I do not like is that is is all mostly on a slope so for younger toddlers they fall alot. Plus they have mulch ground covering. It is not the safest ground covering they could of used, plus it scratches the younger toddlers up from falling alot. My daughter had such a hard time walking around on a sloped playground anyway and the mulch made it sooo much harder. I am a personal fan of the small gravel ground covering that Zilker has. That ground covering is better if they fall of the playscape and it drains sooo much better after a rain. There is a nice amount of shade though which is nice. It would of got a better ratting though if my child was older and the ground covering was different and was not on a slope.
