Awesome beignets and coffee. Lots of different types of beignets. They bake their own bread and make the beignets. Great friendly service. A bit slow but that’s European. Good food takes time.

This bakery is well in almost any travel guide. It is situated on the road from the Cable Car Station Hyde Pier 39. In addition to the well-known soup in bread, there are other delights. I enjoyed the chicken salad in the special bread. Very tasty. About the tables for ‘Fast Food processing’ pull over with baskets full of bread. I think the bread is a sample value and you can also watch a little in the dough. Very interested can participate in a guided tour. For consumer you get for a discount of $ 1, — to the museum entrance. Recommended as it is on the way anyway.

What wonderful people! Their menu is delicious; we often get beignets from here and they are amazing! They sometimes thrown in an extra(«there’s four instead of three so you two don’t have to fight over the third…»).

I love supporting the neighborhood and have the biggest sweet tooth in the world so DH and I were so excited to spot this trailer in the neighborhood. We came on a slow Saturday morning and despite being the only ones there, they managed to get every aspect of our order wrong. When it finally came out(after having to order again and pay again and wait again) we were disappointed. They were chewy and cold. I’m hoping it was just an off day, maybe my expectations were too high given all the other glowing reviews, I just wish I’d had the same Experience everyone else seems to have had. In the meantime, I’ll stick to the beignets across the street at epicerie.

Amazing owners… so friendly. Delicious lattes and giant, sugary, fluffy beignets … What more could you ask for? This place is so close to my apartment this could be a problem! I can’t wait to go back and try their sandwiches. Location is right off Hancock. Nice shady area with tables if you would like to dine there which is convenient.

Best beignets you can buy in Austin! I haven’t had a chance to go to the new location, but the food was nothing short of fantastic the last time I was there. You definitely need to take your friends/family here to try it out.

I was already a fan of Sugar Addict Bakery and then they moved to Hancock which is a wayyyyy better location. The area is shaded with excellent parking before noon(which is before Pat’s Games opens). The service is top notch and friendly owners. I especially love the creamy sauce on the breakfast beignets. Don’t miss the nutella beignets! Mmmmmm… if you just want a sweet bite, go for the New Orleans style beignets. They are about 4 inch squares covered in sugar and not as puffy as Café Du Monde but still yummy. They also offer a variety of sandwiches so come hungry. Look for them in the orange trailer parked in front of Pat’s Games.

Decent place with friendly owners. But nothing special. I don’t get why this place is so beloved. While I love me some fluffy fried dough, their dough just isn’t fluffy enough. Its actually more dense than I like my beignets to be. And they load up on the powdered sugar as many others have said… way too much. But it’s still good. How can you NOT like fried dough and powdered sugar? Epecerie off of Hancock has the best beignets I’ve tried in Austin. But overall this place isn’t too shabby.

Austin has a place that actually serves delicious authentic beignets. Each beignet was perfectly delicious. The only thing I didn’t like was the mound of powder sugar they place on the freshly fried delicate dough. You have to emphasize that you do not want but a tiny amount of sugar on your beignets or they still will give you a quarter pound. We love coming here for the coffee and beignets, and the coffee is much better than Café Du Monde, yeah I said it. Café Du Monde’s coffee has too much chicory. Fortunately, Sugar Addicts doesn’t use chicory and that in itself deserves 5 stars. Everything is made to order so we sit outside the trailer anxiously waiting for our scrumptious treats. My tip for you, eat them there when they are very hot, because everyone knows beignets are awful(rubber rock) when reheated at home. The owners are adorable and love to share stories about their culture. I haven’t tried any of their sandwiches, but who has time for that when hot beignets are waiting for your feasting.

Let’s call them the anti-beignets. Because, in my limited experience, beignets are tiny morsels of deliciousness that you’ll pay anywhere from $ 3 to $ 5 for. Therefore, what the Sugar Addict Bakery offers is the anti-beignet — a giant, fist-sized pastryliciousness completely covered in powdered sugar that makes you do a double-take(«am i about to eat this?»), all for ~$ 1.15 each($ 3.50 for 3). True, I’m used to Northeast prices, but still. The breakfast and lunch sandwiches, served on a flat beignet(?) were absolutely delicious, for two reasons: — any sandwich served on fried dough is automatically delicious — any lunch sandwich to which an egg is added is automatically delicious So, mathematically speaking, if a lunch sandwich is served on fried dough AND has an egg in it, the deliciousness is squared. Which makes you wonder if you’ve won some sort of food lottery. To top off the food and the friendly service, our visit was on a warm December Sunday and there wasn’t a crowd at the small tables that are set up outside the truck. We downed the beignets, labored on the sandwiches, and i washed everything down with an Americano(not on the menu, i don’t think). Great experience, we may just stop by every single time we visit Central Market. Go and eat their food. Go now.

The beignets are very good, but the bigger surprise is that the sandwiches, which are basically wrapped in a puff pastry. Warm, doughy, and a bit crisp on the outside — definitely a nice sandwich if that’s your thing. I asked the owners, two very nice Bulgarians, why would two Bulgarians who used to live in Germany sell beignets, and they said that while the French are the most known for their beignets, Bulgarians make quite a few themselves. After trying theirs, it’s hard to disagree.

My sister made me stop here one day after seeing a sigh for beignets. I have never had a beignet before and now I want them everyday. These were light, fluffy, & delicious. And messy. We were covered in powdered sugar but it was so worth it. I got a good iced coffee to go with it. It was a perfect little breakfast treat. The shaded outdoor area was nice but I can’t imagine sitting out there on a hot day. I will be back for their savory options and to try the banana nutella versions. Yummy!

The food here is really good quality, and the people that run it are super nice. I went for the first time with my friend and she let us try the house lemonade and some desserts for free after we ordered some food. I also had a chance to chat with them after the meal and they are good people! The beignets are freshly made, and taste so good. Worth a visit, especially when it isn’t too hot. I heard the coffee is good here, and I’ll try it next time.

This food here is so yummy! The beignets are all so yummy! Everything about it is so yummy… …if it were ever open! I’m serious — I drive by this place ALL the time, because it’s on my way to work, and it’s always closed. Even during its business hours. I’m bitter, and in need of a beignet. (Still giving it 5 Stars, though)

I have to admit that I held abysmally low expectations going into my late breakfast here, at this oddly-located bright orange trailer, situated right in the Shell Gas parking lot. How could a beignet or espresso possibly be good? Out of a trailer, no less?! Oh, wicked am I for placing food trucks in a box of mediocrity, the lowest of quality, and one dimension. Even as I listened to the owner’s spiel on espresso and how the short shot of coffee will determine the quality of an establishment’s caffeine potential, I tuned out and awaited an opportunity to hate the beignets. First, the espresso knocked me off of my feet, and not in a bouncing-off-the-walls way. Rather, it boasted the lightest acidity and deepest of ‘spro flavor. It came a little taller than most, to boot. Fine. You do good coffee. How about your fried pieces of dough, of which you may only locate the best quality in the wonderful Big Easy, Louisiana? Again, my pride and former visits to New Orleans crumbled under my feet. These puppies are fluffy and crispy, not too sweet nor oily. Snobbery kills. Sugar Addict Bakery absolutely deserves a visit, whether for a quick joe or an extended breakfast with imminent sugar crash. If you simply tap your beignets here, it will look as if you took drugs on their tables. But the fried goodness here might as well be a drug, for how much potential it has to make you eat – darn the perfectly airy consistency!

If you’re jones-ing for Café du Monde, don’t count on Sugar Addict to fill that craving. The beignets are decent, but cannot be compared to what you will find in NOLA. Kind of like if you want an authentic ball-park hot dog, one of those Hebrew National or Nathan’s but you end up settling for oscar meyer… sure, you get your hot dog but it doesn’t quite hit the spot. The beignets I drive 8 hours for are light, fluffy, and have a flavor that obviously can’t be duplicated. These beignets were crunchy and very hollow. I was expecting to bite into a goodness of dough but instead got full air. The lady there is super nice and I did get sugar all over myself, so that was an experience. I will probably go there again, encourage others, but will have different expectations.

WOWWW. My mouth was so happy, dancing in fried dough goodness from this little food trailer. The owners are so nice and sweet(just like the beignets they serve!), I’m glad I was able to have a short conversation with the husband, Dmitri! He even gave my friend and me free samples of their classic powdered sugar beignets. Superb! Puffy, crispy, but soft on the inside, and a GENEROUS heaping of powdered sugar on top. Larger than I expected, too! Three would be a steal for $ 3.50. They also do 6 for $ 5 and 12 for $ 9. YUM! Will be bringing friends back to get some. They also offer other toppings for their specialty sweet beignets($ 2.99 ea.) — nutella and strawberry, nutella and banana, and honey almond(which I will be going back to try sometime in the near future!). They have breakfast egg beignets as well, $ 2.99 for 1 or $ 3.99 for 2. Challah bread, too! And cupcakes! Oh my goodness, I want to go back and eat everything. My friend ordered the pastrami and I ordered the chicken breast lunch beignets. I was not expecting a savory beignet to be so delicious! This is not just a fried piece of dough with meat stuffed on the inside, but it is like… a fried gourmet sandwich. The beignet is a large square and the meat, spring mix, havarti cheese, are put inside and the beignet is folded over into a triangle(like a beignet taco?). There is a crazy delicious white sauce poured over everything inside, making this a little messy to eat, but SOYUMMY! I asked Dmitri what the sauce was made of, and he merely replied, «A special sauce. A special sauce for special people.» So there ya go. Come try this trailer so you can be special too! Especially if you’re a UT student! This is so close to campus! They are open every day from 9 – 5 except for Sunday and Monday, I believe. Check their Facebook page just to be certain. Tip: If you’re feeling thirsty, but aren’t up for their coffee, water, or limonata, you can walk to the Shell gas station right next to the trailer and buy a cold drink!

A great beignet in Austin is like true love — it may be out there, I just haven’t found it yet. The trouble is I did my first beignet and Au Lait where the Almighty intended us to — at the Decatur St. Du Monde — and everything else seems silly by comparison. This is why He moves in mysterious ways. What’s odd here is we’re essentially talking fried dough with milk in chicory coffee — how hard can that be? With Austin’s zillion coffee houses and doughnut joints? Yeah, NOLA’s cool and all that and hanging out in Jackson Square at 3am with a buzz on is part of the charm, but the bottom line is CdM always bats out a superb plate of beignets & coffee in under three minutes, while we’re sweating it out from one trailer to the next not knowing what we’re going to get. Okay, at least we have better BBQ. Yes, Sugar Addict has a decent beignet, it just didn’t blow me away, and yes I’m probably biased. I’m first to acknowledge the Unilocalers I admire who rave about the sandwiches and cupcakes here, but that doesn’t interest me, and a cappuccino in any other language is still not an Au Lait. Incidentally, I’m mildly curious where everyone parks when they come here, and if you get beignets to go, don’t eat them in your car. I was going to do two stars simply because I’ve had better, but that doesn’t feel right by me: It is a nice couple working this trailer, I admire people who believe in what they do, and they obviously have a dedicated Unilocal following. Very cool, and I’m happy for them. In the meantime, late at night when all the world is sleeping, I’m still here in my room, dreaming of the Great Austin Beignet. And maybe true love.

Run by a very sweet couple, Sugar Addict Bakery is not only a place to get your sugar addict fix, but they also have awesome sandwiches. I’ve had the Pastrami sandwich twice now and I would have it every day if my budget would allow it, and if I always had cash on me!(Or maybe that’s a good thing?!) The sandwich is filled with fresh greens and meat, and the bread was absolutely delicious. For dessert, you should also get the beignets. I recently experienced the famous ones from Café du Monde AFTER I tried the ones here and I actually prefer the ones from Sugar Addict Bakery. Their beignets are huge and thicker. The only thing I was disappointed with was the cupcakes. I tried the red velvet and chocolate, but they were both dry and plain. I’m hoping they’ll be better when I return, but until then, the Pastrami sandwich has got me hooked!
