Sorry but got food poisoning from the cabrito soup. It tasted a little«stanky», so good thing I didn’t eat too much. It’s a small space and staff doesn’t speak much English. Tacos are ok but +1 for the sauces.

Salsa is delicious and not too spicy. I got the agua de sandia to drink and it is beyond delicious.

Yum yum yum. I’ve lived in Austin for 6 years now and was pretty underwhelmed by the taco game until Taco More. When I say underwhelmed by Austin tacos, I’m talking about authentic street style, bare bones(meat & cilantro) tacos — not fusion or modern or unique tacos… so don’t judge me too harshly. Taco More is seriously one of if not the best taco spot in Austin. My personal faves are the carnitas and pastor. They do have a self serve salsa station which is more generous than a lot of taco places honestly. They have like four different salsas, limes, grilled jalapenos, different styles of onion, beets, and other fixins to add to your taco to your liking. Very affordable at $ 2 per taco(very very big portions). Only real improvement would be is if the aguas frescas were fresh… I suspect they are concentrate

Great food, service is a hit or miss. The first time I came here I was so happy to have found Mexican food similar to where I was born. But the second time around the service was not good at all. The waiter was very young, and maybe a bit ignorant. He took our order of tacos out to the patio for some reason. But on his way to a table he dropped one taco, he set the plate on top of the trash can picked up the meat on the ground and threw it in the trash can. But with his dirty hands he grabbed meat from the other two tacos and filled the third taco with meat. Then he tried serving them to a table outside. When they denied the order he approached our table and asked if we had ordered the tacos. We said yes and much to our surprise he proceeded to try and serve them to us. But once he was called out he said that he was just trying to figure out if we had ordered them so that he could place a new order. We said ok and he took them to the kitchen. Luckily for us we can see everything that is going on in the kitchen and saw that they just filled the same tacos with more meat, wrapped them neatly and still tried to give them to us. This set my husband off. This was just so horrible. But the waiter saw nothing wrong with what he had done. The manager came to our table and apologized but the waiter was there arguing the fact that he tried to serve us nasty tacos. Anyways we got a different person to wait on us and ever time our previous waiter passed us, he would give both my husband and I dirty looks. We ended up leaving. This is the worst time I’ve had in a restaurant in a long while.

Sopa de cabrito, sopa de menudo — Taco More makes me want to move to Texas. But I won’t… Austin-ites are tired of my Los Angeles kind, so I’ll just stick to visiting. ;-) You’re welcome… but you bet I’ll be back, Austin. Te amo, Taco More.

WARNING !!! WARNING!! DISGUSTING !!! This place did a 180 on is this time around and it’s too bad cause the food is good but it makes you wonder after you read this… We order 3 tacos to munch on before our other food came out and the guy bringing them thought they belonged to another table out on the patio! This is where it takes a turn for the worst! As he opens the door he drops one whole taco on the sidewalk by the entrance. Thinking the table he is about to serve them too can’t see, he picks it up and puts it back on the plate with his dirty hands moves the meat over from the other two tacos to make it unnoticeable and proceeds to take it to the table to serve !!! Then when they tell him they didn’t order the tacos he walks around confused and finally realizes they are for us, he asks did you guys order these? After confirming they where ours he tried to hand them to me !! This is when I lost it !!! I said wtf is your problem you just dropped these on the floor out side ! Yeah we where watching you the whole time, people pay good money and idiots like you are making good restaurants look bad ! We want new tacos ! At first he was dumbfounded but then instead of apologizing he says«I was gonna take them back and get you new ones I just wanted to know if they where yours.» WOW such a lier he would have let us eat them up like nothing if I wouldn’t have spoke up. As he walked to the kitchen I can hear him talking crap about me to the staff saying I was being picky and was making a big deal out of food he dropped but didn’t tell them all the details of his mistake, making it seem like he just spilled a little meat off the plate! I asked him out rite if he at least acknowledged dropping the taco and why it was so gross to put it back and try to serve it. He admitted to dropping it but didn’t really care I was upset. He took the questions as me just making him look bad instead learning from the mistake. Two minutes go buy and the whole kitchen staff is basically staring at us and debating over making new tacos or throwing more meat on top of the old ones that he dropped and contaminated. Clearly they had no idea I understand Spanish and they literary sent out the same dirty tacos. I stood by the kitchen and literally watched them sprinkle extra meat on the top and throw it back on the flat top. Which is even more disgusting! As he brought them back he had a smirk and said” here’s your new food hope they are ok”. I immediately told him in Spanish to throw them out and make me new ones or don’t bring me any at all. Stunned and now knowing I understood the gossip in the kitchen the manager came out and apologized about the conduct of the waiter and made sure we where happy . While she spoke to us this waiter came up I guess out of fear I was saying something about him & said«you didn’t see me drop anything, all I did was throw something away now your making up stories!» WOW really!!! GUILTY! Your boss is literally trying to remedy the situation and out of ignorance you come back to argue with me. I stood up and said why is there still meat all over the side walk by the front door learn how to treat a costumer! I asked, how would you like me to throw some food on the floor rite now then tell you to eat it and then pay for it? Learn some manners and cleanliness. Meanwhile the manager is completely stunned and tells him to go do his job and continues to apologize. This kind of mentality should not ever ever be allowed around a kitchen. I feel sorry cause this idiot was training two other new staff members and all they will learn is it is ok to act like a jackass. Meanwhile as we finished up our already ruined meal he walked passed us trying to stare me down various times. This was all while telling the other staff members I was the one who started the argument loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear. At the end of our meal and after I payed I walked up to him and said if there is anything you want to say to me man up and say it to my face otherwise do your job and shut the hell up. Man oh man I feel so bad cause the manager even gave us free arroz con leche and asked us to please come back assuring she would take care of us next time. Sadly as good as the food is it will be a while before I pay to argue with a ignorant employee or risk having my food contaminated! Years of working with food I have never thought it was ok to put something off the floor out to serve to save a buck or time but unfortunately not everyone has a good conscience!!!

Stale chips, and definitely not the best pastor in town. Also had the cabrito, which was pretty good, and the lengua which was not. Tortillas are purchased and not made in-house. All in all, the realities of this place did not live up to the reviews. Not bad, but not really as good as its reviews suggest. Try it and see what you think. Or don’t. That would be my suggestion.

I’m in Austin for a business trip and thought I’d try some authentic Tex-mex for dinner. This one looked good so I let the GPS guide me. Folks, this is in a rough neighborhood and I would not recommend going there at night by yourself. However. The Tacos El Pastor with cilantro and onions on corn tortillas were DELICIOUS! I asked them to recommend their special and they pointed me to the Flautas Pollo Special. The chicken in the flautas was kind of dry but the cojita cheese, fresh avocado, garlicy rice and beans were all very good. If I come back here I’ll order 3 – 4 tacos with a side of rice and beans. UPDATE: I visited another highly rated taco dive tonight and had the Pastor tacos with onions and cilantro and it really was not up to standard. I came back to this review and gave Taco More one more star because their Pastor tacos are well worth the trip even at night but bring a big friend!

Did I eat at the same place as everybody else who reviewed?! This was so disappointing. We tried every salsa they had — only 2 had flavor. The same for the tacos — everything was incredibly bland. We tried the chicken, chicken fajita, goat, cow face, marinated pork and one other that I literally forgot. This place wasn’t even memorable enough for me to get home and write the review. The ceviche was mediocre, and for $ 9, I could easily get better in Austin. Not only that, but now both my fiancé and I are having tummy issues — not sure what didn’t agree with us, but it was definitely from Taco More. We won’t be back.

Too bad I can’t give a 4.5. This place is amazing!! i love the seafood soup. So worth it! I could never be satisfy with a tex-mex anymore after having such authentic Mexican food. I discovered it through my boyfriend last week ago and already eat here 3 times. And still craving it each day. The green and red salsa are amazing. I love the unlimited salsa bar. The spicy level is perfect. I’m Thai and Thai food are very spicy. This place will satisfy you if you love spicy food. One of my new favorite restaurants in Austin for sure.

My life is complete. I have found the place in North Austin that satisfies my ravenous hunger for Tex-Mex. When you walk into a place and you forget you’re in Austin and think you have somehow teleported to South Texas, you can be sure it will be a good time. The tacos are cheap. I am talking the cheapest in town. But they are also amazing, flavorful, stupendous, damn they are just so good. I like my tacos on flour tortillas but the corn ones are also very good. The chips and salsa was spicy, but that is exactly how I like it. One of my friends got Horchata and man it made me feel like I was at my grandma’s in San Antonio again. Writing this post is making me hungry. The service is awesome and a few times we have gone, a mariachi band is in there jammin out. I love Taco More, and am embarrassed to say how many times I have gone in the last 2 weeks. Oh well. :)

The tacos I had at Taco More today rocked my world. They were simply made with just amazingly cooked meats and fresh cilantro and onions. This is in stark contrast to the complexly marinated and spiced tacos at a lot of the popular taco chains that dot the city. I’m not saying I’ve disavowed the Torchy’s and Taco Deli’s of the world, but these Taco More tacos give me a new appreciation for the meaty filling in authentic tacos. The meat on each of my three tacos were on display and they were all out of this world good. I savored each bite of my Pastor(marinated pork), Lingua(tongue), and Cabeza(head beef). None of them were over marinated and the meat was tender and juicy in all three. The chunks of lingua were like diced beef tenderloin and the cabeza meat was as good as any barbacoa I’ve had before. At $ 2 per taco, this place is a total bargain.

Come here if you’re sick of Tex-Mex! Let’s just start by saying that I’m not a fan of breakfast or tex-mex tacos. It’s like eating orange chicken and calling it Chinese food or hot dogs and calling it American food. You know a taco place is good when you have Latino families dressed up in their Sunday best eating there. There also has to be a TV somewhere broadcasting a futbol match or telenovela. After I moved to Austin from LA, I’ve been craving real tacos and this place definitely hits the spot. Yes, the tortilla isn’t hand made but the meats and salsa are really good. Prices are very reasonable as well. Try their * Al pastor(marinated pork) * Lengua(beef tongue) * Chorizo(pork sausage) * Cabeza(pork neck meat) By the way, the cucumber and beets from the salad bar are for cleaning your palette in between your different tacos. Grab a Mexican rice pudding for dessert on your way out.

I went here for an impromptu lunch at work today and it was overall very good. I decided to sit down since their were some empty tables inside and the food came out within 5 minutes or less. The detached patio had a much nicer vibe so if I were meeting friends and having drinks i would definitely want to eat out there. I might have been the only person in a pretty busy page that wasn’t Mexican so I always take that as a good sign. I had a potato egg and bean breakfast taco and the tortilla was the best part for sure. Soft warm and floury. I also ordered a soup with shredded meat and chickpeas I’m a light broth. It had a much more complex and unique flavor than the taco contents. The salsa came warm and was good but not my favorite salsa ever or anything. Came out to only $ 6.50 which I think was a great deal. Next time I would want to try some of their different salsas and condiments from the salsa bar that felt more like it was for to go orders to me. The waitress was nice and attentive but I saw the guy next to me pay at the table but then she didn’t bring me the check. I eventually got up and paid at the cashier and figured he was the exception. I was impressed with their cleanliness efforts(consistently swept floors and washed windows) and that they had a hand washing sink outside of the restrooms for staff and customers alike. There were some evil biting flies inside but I got the impression they were making efforts to contain them.

Maybe my favorite salsa accompanying chips in town. It has a stewed tomato depth in the flavor of it that I was a big big fan of. I also tried all their other salsas which were plenty. I love the generosity of the open salsa bar loaded with cucumbers, radishes, jalapeños, grilled onions, and more. For tacos I went with their Cabrito, Cabeza, Carnitas, Lengua, Chicharron. All 5 were great in their own way with my favorites most likely being the Carnitas and Cabrito. Plus with all 5, my bill was less than $ 12 before tip. Service was excellent too. In fact, they were packed when I was here yet had a really efficient system. I’ll definitely be back.

A Mexican restaurant with no enchiladas. What? Sigh. Ok … Came here for my enchilada fix and left unfixed. At least they have a Cuban sandwich/panini thing. Weird, but I’ll give it a try. Well. Turns out, it’s a toasted sandwich with chunks of hotdog sprinkled in. Ooookaaay. They bring chips while you’re waiting for your order. The salsa they serve with it is hot, though. Not hot as in the kind of hot you want. But HEATED. WHY, Taco More? WHY? But look! There’s a salsa bar! I filled two or three ramekins, hopeful. A green one. An orange one. A red one. …aaaand they were all gross. Now, I LOVE salsa the way drunk college boys like pizza. Like, for me they’re on a scale of «pretty good» to «amazing,» with nothing really falling below the«pretty good» rating. Taco More salsa somehow manages to fall below even my admittedly low standards. I don’t get it. I’m pretty sure I got tacos here once. I don’t remember them. I’m guessing they were okay. I’ll stick with food items actually in the name of the restaurant when I go back. More«tacos.» Less«more.» Or I’ll just go to Vazquez Restaurant over on Braker Lane next time. A Mexican restaurant that actually serves cheese-smothered stuff with beans on the side. And, you know, enchiladas.

Another really great street taco place. Life is good here. 2 dollar tacos, extensive salsa bar and large menu. There are already tons of review on this place so I’ll keep to the highlights of my order. Order: Goat-good, nothing unique indicated it was goat Cabeza-excellent! Greasy and generous Lengua-just ok, I thought it had a strange taste. I’ve had this at many other places and maybe the meat wasn’t super fresh here? Can’t say for sure. Watermelon Agua Fresca — Awesome! refreshing and perfect sweetness. For $ 2 a taco, on average, I thought they were larger than other places. Taco More does have a few things I haven’t seen in other taco places like goat. The salsa bar was extensive. I really like the grilled jalapeño but wasn’t a huge fan of any of the other salsas. 5 stars because the food and drinks were good and the prices were cheap. I need to try the soups and some other items on the menu. As it stands this is definitely a place I will frequent.
