It’s Taco Shack guys. $ 5 or so for the Burnett Road burrito is enough to fill me up for most of the day before I go to work: P Their breakfast tacos and breakfast bowls are also pretty good if you aren’t feeling in the mood for a massive burrito.

The place is nice and clean but the prices were a little high for the quality and quantity of the food you can get. I ordered the soft tacos plate that came with rice & beans. Everything seemed kinda bland for a plate of Mexican food and the portions are not what you’d expect for $ 9 a plate. The sauce has no medium heat, it just flares up on your tongue. Gonna pass on this one next time I’m hungry

Like this Taco Shack as it has a drive through which tends to be pretty fast, hardly ever a car or two in line and when there are they move fast. Another thing which is a little cute it that apparently the drive through speaker or outside microphone to be more proper, doesn’t seem to work very good. But that’s okay, this is the United States and a goofy experience where you have to keep repeating yourself in the drive through is part of our cultural experience and underscores a lot about who we are. If you think about it. I’ll never understand why they can’t understand me, I’m a radio DJ and I don’t even have a Texan accent. Anyway, I have mastered the drive through and I believe this is sound advice for anyone, anywhere for any drive through. Do what I did and get ya a long cardboard tube, like one that gift wrap came off of. A good source for these can be found at the grocery store, like the poles they used for signs on end caps. Like Coke and Pepsi displays. Now don’t just take the thing ask the coke or pepsi guy and they will give you one. Keep it in your car. When in said drive through take the tube and place one end over your mouth. Point the tube directly at the speaker(technically a microphone) grill, take a deep breath and then(in this case) in the most clear, deep and resonate, non Texas accented voice you can produce speak«Yes. Hello. I. Would. Like. A. Breakfast. Burrito. With. Eggs. Potatos. And. Bacon. That. Will. Be. All. Thank you!». And you’ll never have a problem again. Don’t use abbreviations. If you don’t like tomatoes say«No. Tomatoes.» Period, not«Tomatahs», and nothing else. It works. The whole ordeal sorta reminds me of one of my favorite quotes; «I couldn’t tell if the guy was drunk, high, mentally challenged or if he just had an Austin accent». And don’t forget to ask them for the green sauce –while you are at the window-. The breakfast burritos are nothing special IMHO, they are what they are. They are filling when you are in a hurry and they are cheap. When exiting drive through make sure you have your seat belt on and have safely stored your cardboard tube before eating while driving. — Your Friendly Neighborhood Taco Monster

This is not a very vegetarian friendly lunch place, but it is close to work, so I thought I would give it another shot. The first time I went to a Taco Shack for breakfast several years ago, I was less than thrilled. The food was just mediocre and I thought overpriced for what you got. Take two, lunch time. I gave my order to the guy at the counter twice because he did not get it the first time. I ordered the burrito with no cheese, no sour cream, but with jalapenos and avocado. What I got was a burrito with loads of cheese and sour cream. This spoiled the entire meal for me. And to add to the blow, although I was told I could substitute the jalapenos and avocado for the cheese and sour cream, I was still charged for it. Maybe it was just a fluke or maybe it’s just not meant to be for me and Taco Shack.

I got the Taco Salad with Fajita Chicken today at lunch. It was the only thing on the menu that included guac. Well, when I got the salad, the chicken was a weird pink color and dry and the shell was stale. It was a complete disappointment and entirely inedible. I think they use the cheapest ingredients they can get. There are so many other inexpensive Mexican food places in the area that actually taste good. Even Taco Cabana would be better than this. Total waste of 5 bucks.

This Taco Shack is kind of hidden in a new strip center neat UPS and the main post office. I go to this location because it is near my work. The Taco shack here is the same as all the others in town. If you like them anywhere else you will like this spot as well. The first time I ate at a Taco Shack was about 10 years ago at the first location near the Medical Center on Medical Parkway. So I have been eating their tacos a long time. I like their build your own breakfast taco, I generally get the egg, sausage and potato taco with juice of some kind, these tacos are big and if I get 2 of them sometimes it is too much. I do like them though. They have a lunch special but I only have tried the breakfast tacos. Every now and then I will order a shack pack to take to work and share with work friends. They like them as well. Most of the time here the drive through is not way backed up as it can get at other locations. The Shack Pack comes with 3 potato and egg breakfast tacos and 3 bacon and egg breakfast tacos for less than $ 10. Would I go back? Yes 2 or 3 times a month.
